one of the best bakeries in duluth! the glazed raised donut and the cherry turnover is my favorite

Took a wrong turn and stumbled across this hidden gem of a bakery! My friend and I walked in and were greeted by a friendly fun lady by the name of Barb (aka: the owner). She had us smiling. We stopped in for a donut but ended up leaving with a dozen and two sugar cookies. The raised maple donut was a favorite of ours. However, all were tasty. The bakery appears to have been around for sometime. Small little clean bakery. Also, cannot beat the incredible prices. Will visit again when I'm back in the area.

Still great donuts and they still run out early. But we try nearly every time we get to Duluth.

Brought a half dozen 8 hours back to Chicago, my family demolished them in 10 seconds flat. Crème weighed down the middle of these beauties. Long John was so delicious too.

I think it's been over two years since I wrote a Yelp review, but Today Johnson's Bakery served me what may have been the single finest donut I've ever put in my mouth. Sweet, but not too sweet, both flaky and soft, and just all around what a body hope for in a donut.

A small selection of what they offer - it's all amazing

This place is excellent and very inexpensive. If I wouldn't die an obese diabetes ridden man I would eat there every day.

The best Bakery in Minnesota! I use to stop at Tobies on my way home from the cities until I remembered Johnson's was 10× better!

I saw they have frozen pretzels- which is perfect because I didn't want to eat it right now. I got two of those to go. I also got a blueberry danish for my husband- he approved! And two loaves of bread- the cheese curd and the rosemary onion in the one pound option. (They have a two pound and it's huge!) We enjoyed the bread toasted with butter and for avocado toast during the week. They offered to slice the rosemary onion bread but not the cheese curd- there's something about the cheese curd that they said they don't slice it. I can't remember. But it's fine/ we sliced our own. The pecan rolls and the cinnamon rolls looked amazing but I'm more of a savory gal. The shop was super cute. They have a sourdough class coming up. They have coffees and couches. Bathrooms for customers. Some merchandise for sale. They even have a monthly club where you can pick up or have your items delivered to you! Wow! I wish I lived in the area just for this bakery. I enjoyed reading about the business on their website/ two brothers!

My husband had a drip coffee, too, and really enjoyed it. This place really lived up to the hype.

Best donuts ever…read more Stopped by just after 11 on a Saturday and there were a good number of donuts left, including their banana split donut! Get that. It's unique, it's amazing, and I happen to love bananas. The counter lady told us they have the best cream cheese frosting anywhere. We vote it second best, and that's a really high compliment from my crew. Everything was SO good. Everything. I think I tried 4 types of pastries.

So I got the Apple fritter also as my back up . I asked for a coffee, but they only had drip so I was like yeah this is a special day. No thanks to the coffee. So we weren't feeling too good about what we got from the bakery . We could tell that she really was more of a commercial baker so I really wasn't sure what we're going to get. So I tore a chunk of the apple fritter off, and I was blown away . It was the best apple fritter I've ever had in my entire life. Later that night, I decided to try the maple long John despite the fact that there's custard inside it . It was the best efffing donut I've ever had . I hate custard - but this custard was light and creamy and zero greasy after taste. I will think of these donuts for the rest of my life and all others will fall short.
