If I could give negative stars, I would. Unless you can afford 250 dollars to still be in the same condition I would go somewhere else. In the situation the individual worked two hrs on the plugged kitchen sink before giving up. He gave the a option to send us someone else who could possibly try to unclog it. If they could t unclog it it would be no additional cost but if they could it would cost an additional fee depending on outcome! I'm out 250 dollars. I had Johnson plumbing come out to my house because my dishwasher was getting backed up with water. They checked under the sink and the dishwasher. He said the lines were fine and that I needed a new dish washer. I had only lived in my house 2 yrs and I know the dishwasher was less than 4 yrs old. The dish washer always worked and that wasn't the problem it was the back up of water that would cause concern for me. When I ran the dishwasher the water would drain out. I figured that it was the air gap I didn't have( thank god for Google) instead of going out and spending $800 for a new dishwasher they suggested. I had another person look at it and he changed the hose with a new one and added an air gap I didn't have. I'm so glad I had enough common sense not to go out and buy a new dishwasher. I would of had the same problem with the new one since it wasn't the dishwasher at all, I just needed a air gap. I'm thankful I didn't get a new dishwasher and have to pay someone to install it. That would of been a huge expense on my part. So disappointed that they had no brains at all to figure out but I did. Another good experience with Johnson Plumbing. I have a small rental house built in 1926, so everything is old. The tenants are fantastic, and I try to keep them happy. I have been using Johnson for various plumbing repairs for many years. Today it was a moderate leak at the shut-off valve for the service supply line. I emailed Johnson last night after closing, and this morning when I woke up, I found a technician was already in route to the house. The problem was repaired within an hour. They replaced the buried shut-off valve by extending the pipes to keep the valve above ground, so it is accessible and functional, and not subject to corrosion from being in the dirt. It's so refreshing to deal with a competent, reliable company. Always friendly, easy to communicate with, and quick to respond. They invoice me via email and take my payment online. I called three times to request a repair for the same bathroom. The first time they charged me a little over $100 and it worked for about a week or so the next time they came for the same bathroom it worked for a couple of weeks but I paid a little over $100 they came today and he worked for a couple of hours and now it's $400 but it's the same bathroom And they're telling me that each time they worked on it it's a little different problem but it's the same bathroom. It seems like they would've found that problem when they first came. I understand that I need to pay for the work but I don't think they understand how that makes me feel like they're taking advantage of me, maybe other people have had been results but I haven't read more

I've never used a plumber in my 75 years. These guys did a great job. Diagnosed my shower leak to the shower head extension tube. Replaced it and leak tested it and the shower pan. They also recommended a guy to replace the soggy drywall. Who also did a great job. read more

Exorbitant price of 1000+ dollars to do basic handyman work of changing angle stop and supply lines. Didn't fix the original problem for which they have been hired where it needs real professional plumbing experience. Charged 100+ for giving estimate and they don't give credit if you get the job done through them as well. Please avoid unless you have a large budget to spend on plumbing job and look for better options if you can. Not friendly and cooperative to work and get job done Next update: Problem is job quoted was not completed, and price charged was more than quoted price without fixing the problem where it needs plumber experience. Basic small things were taken care and were charged beyond the quoted prices. They charged a hourly rate of 118 dollars to look around for a part by driving to Lowes. Mother recently passed and I took over her home. Had some serious plumbing issues and saw she contacted Johnson Plumbing before. They came out one evening and did quick work. They returned to give me a better idea and quote on fixing the issue(s). What a waste of time. I don't live in Merced and it was such a hassle trying to get any questions answered about what the real issue was. Quoted me over $8,000-$15,000 to replace a pipe. So of course I called another company for another quote. My mom had been using Johnson Plumbing for who knows how long. In 1 week, the other company gave me a quote and got the work completely done, for 1/3 of the price Johnson Plumbing quoted. I give some stars because they were available to come out during an emergency, but took stars away because it was too much of a hassle to try to get to the root of the situation. No wonder my mom called them often, they had a long term customer in her because they never really took care of the issues. In Merced, there are other plumbers available, get a 2nd quote/opinion and you'll see other companies want to help fix your issue not just keep you as a forever customer. read more

I Called Johnson Plumbing because the sprayer hose on my kitchen sink had started leaking. I told them exactly what I needed. The plumber shows up, looks at the leak and says he can't repair it and doesn't have any parts. I was informed if I got the part they would return and replace it. The charge for the original visit was $106.00. A second charge of $106.00 would be required for the second visit for a total of $212.00 to replace a hose. I would have replaced it myself except I'm too old and stiff to crawl under the kitchen sink. I called Johnson Plumbing's office and got a quite snarky customer contact guy who said the first visit was to "diagnose" the problem "just like at an Auto Repair Shop" and the charge was required and non-negotiable. He said it with a smile you could hear. I got Lowe's to finish the project. I've included a picture of the "hose requiring diagnosis". It cost $106 to be told there was water leaking out of my sprayer hose. This company might be good for major plumbing jobs but for a small job - Forget it. If you're a senior citizen with a small plumbing job, I would suggest you utilize another company. read more

I had Johnson Plumbing come out to my house just because the faucet was leaking, and review seems to be ok. The faucet was not too old, so I was hoping that we only need to replace the cartridge. Of course, they did not recommend that, and suggested to replace the faucet. It was ok, and we paid $429.67 to replace the faucet to save the trouble. I did not realize the true trouble came after that, they started to send second bill of $128.50 for trouble shooting the issue. I told them I did not need them to trouble shoot a leaking faucet. Then, they keep sending this diagnostics bill and threaten to send the bill to collection. read more

I have used Johnson Plumbing 2 or 3 times in the past. Up until the last time, I was satisfied with their service. In early August of 2022, I called them to fix a leak near an outside faucet on my rental house. When the job was finished, I met with the repair man and paid him the amount he requested. Never was I told that the amount requested was only a portion of the total repair bill. Logically, I assumed the repair was paid in full. More than four months later, just before Christmas, I was contacted and told that I owed an additional $280. Had I been told the total price of the repair when it was completed, I would have paid the bill at that time. However, receiving an unexpected bill from a job completed over 4 months ago, it not only seems unprofessional, but suspicious as well. Will I use them ever again? I think not! read more
