This is a hidden gem of a pharmacy with very attentive, friendly, and professional service. I first discovered this place when trying to schedule my 2nd COVID vaccine. Unlike so many other grocery stores and chain pharmacies, John's had plenty of vaccine on hand and told me to come on over without an appointment. When I arrived everyone was very welcoming. I waited just a couple of minutes before John himself gave me my most painless shot ever. He checked on me a few times during the 30-minute waiting period. I was also able to stock up on masks AND waterless hand cleaner before I left, which were scarce at other stores at the time. They are a small pharmacy but have more than enough reasonably-priced first aid, OTC medicines, and medical supplies to stock your house. I was so impressed by that experience that we've returned to John's for our family's other COVID and flu vaccines. We've received the same excellent service every time. Our autistic son hates getting shots and John was super friendly, empathetic, and compassionate throughout the whole process. He explained what he was doing at each step and genuinely strived to make the experience as positive as possible. This is an excellent pharmacy, far better than any Walgreens, CVS, or chain store you find in Albuquerque. We'll be returning here again and again. read more

I made a random stop here to pick up some OTC stuff and decided to ask if they accepted my insurance to get my flu shot out of possible convenience. John, the Pharmacist was very nice, informative, and professional. The pharmacy was busy but they were able to accommodate us. We didn't have to wait long, maybe a few minutes to get our flu shot. John also asked if we needed our booster since we told him we were healthcare workers. John had the moderna booster in stock, and that's what the BF got, but the BF didn't want to get his booster and chance feeling sick while we were here on vacation (but yet he got his flu shot). I unfortunately received mine from work prior to coming here. Not only did I get all my medication questions answered, I received great service from a very personable Pharmacist who really put in that extra effort to make sure we got everything answered and were taken care of. Too bad I don't live in town. I highly recommend this place over CVS or Walgreens any day! read more

I didn't even know this place existed until they were LITERALLY the only place in town to get the new Omicron booster in record time. I had an event and thought there was no way I could get my shot before I needed it (much less that it would be available in NM any time soon after approval). I was really hoping I would be able to since i would feel so much more comfortable if I could and I can't believe how I lucked out. To my surprise, this little place was the only one to have it on 9/3 when it was released officially on 9/2. Talk about impressive. I signed up and even called to double check it was the real deal and it was. I would not hesitate to come back here. It's just west of Moon on Central right near the Base. The pharmacist (pretty sure it was John himself) was fantastic and after taking my info for my shot, I had a very short wait. After seeing my vax card, he double checked with me that I was ok with the version he had available (all my shots had been Pfizer, he had Moderna at the moment). I will say, most places don't care. If you signed up you get what you get- but he took the time to mention it and make sure I was comfortable switching manufacturers and I appreciated that. The place was clean, well organized, and they are still very much being very safe and requiring masks. They were well stocked with other supplies (including a variety of masks) but I thought it was really great they also had a huge box of drug deactivation kits readily available with signage that said "Free." It's a sad part of our reality but thought it was telling of the character of this place that they were so visible and readily available for anyone who may need them. After a very brief wait, John called me back. He was super friendly and personable and we talked about it being draft weekend and our NFL teams. haha Maybe it was coincidence but this was the least painful (during and after) shot I've ever received so maybe he has some magic technique. He asked me to hang out for a few minutes for an observation period and came to check on me roughly halfway through. When I was about done he asked me again how I was feeling and released me when I said I was perfectly fine. Heck, at Walgreens and CVS they tell you to wait but you're really just on your own. This guy cares and it's obvious from the moment you step in the door. I would/will come back here any day for any other vaccine or if there's anything else i need. You rock, John. John's Pharmacy is a little pharmacy with a big impact here in Albuquerque during the time of COVID-19. Back during the months when we were all struggling to find hand sanitizer, face masks, and other safety products and couldn't find them anywhere, this little pharmacy had them. And they had a ton of them. I didn't know this fact until a friend told me about them back in May. And man was I tickled pink to discover this place. You walk in the door and you feel like a kid in a candy store. John's has so many options that you know you've hit the jackpot. Check 'em out. John's Pharmacy is worth the visit. read more

I went to one of the chain pharmacies for years and got increasingly frustrated with the difficulties filling my regular prescriptions as well as the abysmal customer service. One day I called John's Pharmacy and grilled them about how long it would take to get certain medications--and not only did I get to speak to a pharmacist (didn't even sit on hold or have to go through an automated system) but they happily answered my questions and switched my prescriptions over. I have complicated medical issues, constantly changing medications, and potential medication interactions. They check in with me regularly. They give me questions to take back to my doctors when they have concerns. They are proactive about making sure I have refills and insurance prior authorization. They let me know when there's an insurance formulary issue and suggest alternatives (typically just a change from capsules to tablets or something similar) to ask my doctor about. When one of the medications was going to cost $700 a month on my new insurance, they found a manufacturer plan that brought my out of pocket expense to $5. I could probably go on for paragraphs. I honestly can't say enough good things about them. This is 100% a business worth supporting. read more

Incredibly professional and organized. My first time visiting this pharmacy. I was scheduled for my COVID-19 shot here...showed up a bit early, but they were welcoming and got me checked in. Within minutes I'm getting the J&J shot. Ten hours later, no pain in injection site, no problems at all... I thanked them for being a vaccination site, for helping the community; the pharmacist thanked _me_ for helping the community by getting vaccinated! He was thinking of others, not his business--that was kind. Great people there and doing a wonderful job serving Albuquerque. They even gave me a nice, large and beautiful calendar as I left. After showing up for a flu shot appointment at Walgreens and realizing that the wait would still be at least 30 minutes, I decided to look around for another pharmacy that might take walk-ins. I found a listing for John's online and gave them a call. John himself answered, and it was comforting to actually get a human on the phone. I lucked out because they were doing walk-in flu shots. When I arrived, John and his staff were friendly and professional, and I was in and out in only a few minutes. For my future vaccines and prescriptions, I will continue to support John's, a local business that clearly strives to treat customers with kindness and care. read more

Staff at pharmacy was super helpful & kind. We received our first Covid vaccine & were made to feel comfortable. This is not your typical mainstream pharmacy like Walgreens that does not care about you as an individual. They are small & local which makes them have that home-y feel & sense of belonging & caring. read more
