When I was a kid I'd go with my Gramma to the Walgreens, near her house in San Francisco. It was always an adventure with toys and aisles filled with candy, chips and other goodies. This Walgreens tears that fun memory to pieces. To begin with there are rough looking people all over the parking lot and wandering through the store; I'm fine with that, I've lived in cities most of my life and everyone needs to shop. But the store treats every customer like someone sketchy . I'd say that 90% of the items are behind glass, even innoucuous stuff like deodarant. It's a wonder the employees get any work done because they're always being interrupted with customers needing access to something. The check out on a Sunday was ridiculous, one (very slow) woman working the front. And, no surprise, she couldn't even be bothered to say hello until I asked her how her day was. She just stared at me while her POS refused to read my card, which seems to be a common problem at the Walgreens in this city. One thing they DO still have are great deals if you use the loyalty card. So I bought two 12 packs of Coke and two 8 pack of LaCroix two for one. But this meant I needed a cart. The problem with that is that you can't take the cart out of the store. So after taking 30 seconds blocking the door trying to get out (and making a drunk woman mumble curses at me) the super friendly security guard offered to help me to my car.So the security guard gets one of the stars. , And there were two teen age sisters buying tons of candy in front of me. They'd obviously been given money to spend on whatever they wanted and they were having a great time, which reminded me of those fun days with my gramma as a kid. So they get the other star. In the last few months I have had variations of the same issue: 1. Place order for a refill. 2. Recieve automated message saying refill is ready. 3. Go to Walgreens wait in line (10 - 20 minutes). 4. Get to front, find out the order is not ready...but if I am willing to wait 20 more minutes it can be. 5. Leave because of work or other appointment. 6. Return when my schedule permits...to be told they canceled the order because it was not picked up. read more

On Sunday, March 17, I visited this location to purchase a couple of toothbrushes and a two-pack of Afrin nasal spray. While in the store, I asked to use the restroom. The cashier sneered at me that they did not have public restrooms. I replied that I was not "the public", but rather a paying customer, that is IF I were allowed to use the restroom. He refused me. I asked to speak to his manager and was advised that he was on the other side of the store where they sold liquor. I walked up to the manager and introduced myself. His name was Brent. Brent immediately lied to me, telling me that the restroom was out of order. It wasn't. His rude subordinate had already made this clear. I told Brent that I would not spend my money there. I asked for his immediate supervisor 's name and number, which he did provide. read more

This is my drug store to visit. The employees are friendly and very helpful. Never had a problem there, now the one on Carlisle and Lomas, they have very bad stuck up employees there. The pharmacist yelled at me the last time I was there with another putting in her two cents. The Central and Girard store is a 100% nicer and better. read more

The employees of this Walgreen's location appear to be engaged in a long, bitter war which has left them wary and suspicious. Yes, Girard and Central is a crossroads for the poor and the indigent, but the tactics being employed to suppress shoplifting are now psychological in nature. For instance, you will repeatedly hear recordings over the loudspeakers saying "customer service needed in the [ ] department," which is meant to scare off would-be thieves with the illusory notion that an employee might walk over. Often the department of concern is skin-care, so I'm guessing that a lot of makeup gets stolen here. The next level of deterrent is the "security walk the floor" recording, which usually prompts a manager to canvas the store, since I've only seen security guards there at night. This was my experience today, when, around noon, I heard two of the "customer service" recordings AND a "security" recording, while picking out a bottle of shampoo. The employees know what these messages mean, as was clear from the furtive, condescending glances I received. As a paying customer, this hostile treatment is unwarranted and unwelcome. Prices aren't great here, so if you want a good deal, perhaps the Walmart on San Mateo is a better option. This Walgreen's does not know how to value its customers, which is unfortunate. I hope the current management style is producing the desired results, but it's failing to see the people entering the door as anything but prospective criminals. read more

When I went to pick up my medication at the nearest Walgreens, the pharmacy had closed at 7pm, so I bought a drink and a snack to sooth my anxiety, but cashier said "your card won't work" (I had just used it in another shop and used it in another one right after) - the second time this has happened to me there ?? I told the cashier that and she said, "that's not my problem." When I work customer service, I don't get to be rude to people just because the neighborhood is rough or whatever. Pharmacies are not just stores- they are a cog in our health care system and need to maintain some minimum standards of public service. I can see why they have a two star rating. This pharmacy serves a lot of pedestrians and needs to resume pharmacy hours until 9pm for people who work. read more

This is the closest location to my home and work. It can be challenging to access due to the traffic flow in the area. Once inside the store it is clean and organized. It was remodel in the recent past. The staff is friendly and helpful. read more

My wife and I stopped in here because she needed to buy a few things, and I was going to use the restroom while she shopped. We asked the first employee we saw, in the liquor section up front, if there was a restroom. Her response was "Yes". Ok... Where is it? "You have to buy something." We explained that we planned to buy things. "It's in the back right corner." Great. When I found the restroom, a code was needed to enter, so I went searching for an employee. I came across the same woman who told us where it was, and asked her for the code. She said, barely audibly, I'll call someone. Why didn't she tell me initially that a code was needed?? I found another employee toward the back of the store and asked her for the code. Her response? "Can I see your receipt?" Are you kidding me?? I told her my wife is shopping now, and she responded that she would let me in, but they would need to see my receipt. No thanks. What a hassle. Why is it such a big deal to let a paying customer use the restroom? Unbelievable. I used the restroom at the Panera next door (where we also purchased drinks). My wife left the items she was going to buy in this Walgreens and bought them at Target instead. read more

This place has a good beer selection but it doesn't matter if you are shanked on your way out with said beer. I truly fear for my life when I go here. When you park the car, at least 4-5 junkies descend upon you to ask you for a ride , crack, a quarter, etc. Several half corpses roll around on the ground higher than a kite. I just sit in my car for a bit, wondering how worth it this stop is for me. Sometimes when the junkies flock, I just drive off . If you make it through the parking lot, at least 4 junkies are waiting at the entrance to the store. Once you make your selections, you go through the same as mentioned above. Hopefully , your car is still there. read more

This is a nice little store as far as Walgreens go. The neighborhood can be a bit rough. Lots of homeless vagrant types around. But I have never had any problems personally. I get my rx filled here and the service is always timely and pleasant. One thing I still don't understand is why Walgreens insists on selling cigarettes and booze in a health care store/pharmacy. I guess they need to keep their customers coming back. I would probably shop at a CVS if we had more of them around. read more

Unfortunately the location and ABQ's sh!ty state it is riddled with people trying to break into your car, street people yelling at you, and the like. However that's ABQ right now. Now what is TOTALLY on the store is one employee. I frequent this store and by in large everyone is great except one guy who seems to cashier the liquor section some evenings. This guy has constant loud angry break downs alone, gets wired about "ethnic" people, and on pretty much every occasion that I buy a pack of cigarettes asks if he can have one. He makes things honestly super awkward and makes you want to just run off, and this is coming from someone very use to the reality of city life. Not worth the bull$h!t. read more

Yes, you get the sketchy people hanging out around here and yes, I have been asked to go to the liquor section to buy booze for someone. However, it's plenty well-stocked, close to the University, and has the same discounts and prices that you'd expect to find at any other Walgreens. Has postcards too, which was an added bonus for me! Unfortunately, when they have a sale, you actually have to buy in bulk to get the sale price. A mixed bag, but a pretty decent place. read more

I like this Walgreens quite a bit. The staff is really friendly and ready to help. I like the community vibe here, too. I used to go to the one on Wyoming and Indian School and most of the staff was neither friendly or helpful and were often just screwing around and ignoring customers. Not so here. read more

Of course you'll have your usual Albuquerque shenanigans in front of this store: fights between homeless folks or drunks, arrests in progress, beggars, and employees blocking the entrance with their bodies and plumes of smoke. Other than that, this Walgreens is like any Walgreens anywhere.... well, almost anywhere, since not every state allows liquor sales in supermarkets and convenience stores. And really, this is what redeems this store for me --- their beer offerings --- because otherwise it's just another place with severely bright lighting and everyday use products that you discover you need at the last moment. This realization that I need something late night is generally what gets me here and almost without fail I grab my toothpaste or diapers or whatever and then wander over to the liquor side, past the clerk that looks like he's worked 36 hours straight and who eyes everyone with the suspicion that they might be in the middle of an armed robbery, and find the fridge with the single beer medley. Here, for $9, one can combine different beers into one six-pack. The selection isn't spectacular, but there will be craft beers from the like of Ska, O'Dell, Kona, Santa Fe, and (the big bad wolf of craft beer) Samuel Adams. It's a nice and reasonably-priced way to sample a bunch of different beers and learn what you like. So if you're a beer drinker like me, make every trip here worthwhile and wander over to the liquor section. read more

Staff at this location are always friendly and kind pharmacists as well, wouldn't suggest a better place. And I feel super safe there with all the precautions that they're taking with COVID-19. Wow, this store sucks. Stopped in here with my husband as I needed a few things. I was shopping with stuff in my cart and my husband wanted to use the bathroom while I shopped. They refused to give the bathroom code even though it was clear that my husband was shopping with me and I had a big basket of items. They said we had to see a receipt before giving us the bathroom code. I wasn't finished shopping. What the hell Walgreens, new LOW. They even called the manager who also refused to give us the code until we had a receipt. read more

I used to shop at this Walgreens regularly; however, I recently received a parking ticket when I parked here to go to the bar next door. Not only is the parking lot directly connected, there was no signage or indication that I should not park there. I emailed the parking ticket company to find out what happened and they were incredibly rude. I will not shop at this Walgreens until I know that they have removed this ticketing service and have placed proper signage. This is a poor way to loose business in a lot that always has space. read more

This store is chronically understaffed. Long lines and if you need to buy something locked up such as a hair-styling iron, you'll wait a long time. I am very aggravated by the presumably well-meaning cashier who doesn't know me and referred to me as "young un" I'm neither young nor old and find the reference patronizing and insulting. Customers should be treated with respect regardless of age. I won't go back there. The one next to Lowes on 12 is better. read more

I have been going to this location for my prescriptions for at least 15 years. Over the last 2 to 3 years I have observed a decline not only in the neighborhood which has become very unsafe -- but there has been a decline in the quality of the staff who work there. I recently picked up my prescription, went home and discovered my prescription was only partially filled. I probably should have checked it before I left the store, but I didn't. I called back to talk to someone in the pharmacy department who was quite rude. I figured they would want to know my name, the prescription, the medication, etc., instead this young woman on the other end of the phone line kept quipping, "What is your question? Ma'am . . . just what is your question?" Excuse me! I just thought she would like to have all the information. Her tone was condescending and impatient. There was no need for that. Had I used that tone in my own job I probably would be fired! It seems like this location might have overextended themselves. They keep running out of basic medications. My husband recently had trouble getting his Metformin prescription refilled because they were "out of stock". Metformin is not an uncommon medication, nor is my medication, Keppra, which was the medication they only partially filled for me in the scenario above. What gives? I don't know -- but this latest incident has made me decide to go through the process to not only switch to a different location but to a different pharmacy chain altogether. read more

Worst Walgreens experience I've ever had and it's all because of the employees. I was waiting in line, no big deal, and some lady comes in to buy something she didn't have money for earlier. She asks if it's still back behind the counter and she was told they already put it back. The lady goes to look for it, literally, for a minute and comes back and asks if they found it behind the counter again coming the wrong way in the check out line! I'm like wtf is this lady doing, it's covid and she's walking against traffic to ask the same question she just had one minute ago. One of the workers had indeed found the item behind the counter and says to her, "since you've already waited in line you don't have to again" and opens a new register just to check her out. Unless I'm an idiot, that is NOT how lines work. Fuck this Walgreens. If I ever need to go to Walgreens again I'll drive further just to avoid this one. read more
