We have been in our home for almost 3 years and were always so fearful of using our fireplace because it quite frankly looked shotty. We had given John a call about cleaning our chimney. We have been using dura flame logs for along time. After talking with John we decided to have him install gas logs to our fireplace. Since the gas was already there, it was easier for him to install. he was very thorough and our fireplace looks amazing without the smell and clean up from the Dura flame logs. I called a few contractors to do a chimney sweep. All said that they were booked til January, except for John who could do it in just a few days. He showed up on time and swept the chimney as promised. When I booked the appointment, I was told that if the chimney needed repairs, that he would have to do those first. I thought that was fair because no good contractor should clean a chimney and leave it in a dangerous condition. Once he was finished cleaning the chimney, I asked him to install a new H burner and add fireplace glass and balls, which he kindly did. All for a reasonable price. I called John's Chimney sweep they came out and did a inspection. They we're very professional and polite. They told me my Chimney was getting water damage because it was never water profit. John gave me a estimate to rebuild the the top end of my Chimney and water seal. The estimate was very reasonable. They completed the job in two days. Cleaned up and gave me a five-year warranty. Not happy with my service at all. Felt like it was a huge waste of time. Wanted it cleaned and not inspected.

This dude is a flake .I called a week ago first he told me the 20th then an hour later told me he could do it on the 23 @ 2pm. Went and ran errands got home at 130 2 o'clock came and went to 230 300 no call nothing I attempted to call no answer voicemail full finally at 4 call clock I called . He answered and said I'm glad you called I left my work book in my truck that broke down and was waiting for people to call. I asked when can you come do it . He said idk my truck not working . Classic bait and switch company. No initial mention of an inspection fee of $145 due immediately cash or check. Called out to clean the chimney which they refused to due unless we hired them for almost $2500 of additional work. Avoid and save your money for a company that will just do what they were hired to do. read more

I was in the process of hiring a plumber to install a new gas line for the gas log set that I had purchased. It was determined, rightly so, that the chimney needed to be cleaned and inspected so I found John's Chimney Sweep online and had him come out to clean the chimney. During the inspection, it was determined that the fire wall panels were crumbling and needed to be replaced. I agreed with this assessment as the walls had been patched in several areas over the years so I had that work done also. John informed me that he could replace the gas connection and set up the gas log setup and that this work would be included with the other. He did an excellent job with the panel replacement, the cleaning of the chimney and the gas log set up. I am more than pleased with the outcome of the fireplace and look forward to using the the fireplace this coming winter. read more

I scheduled chimney repair to be completed before the close of escrow. They called a day before the appointment to reschedule about 3 weeks later. I couldn't wait because it was a repair request for escrow. I then asked him to send me a quote so I could include it in escrow. He originally quoted me 475.00. When he sent the quote it was 1600.00 on a text. I asked him if that was accurate and he said yes. Since he claimed he had to do brick work. I believe the minute he knew that it was going to be included in escrow he decided to try and rip me off. He is not honest. He said he had to go out of town but from information I gathered he had another job he wanted to finish up on. He lied and tries to over charge. I had the work done by someone else for the original price he quoted me. Don't use this guy! read more

Had an appointment with them for Christmas Eve day so we could use our fireplace on Christmas Day. We received a call a few hours before the appointment from a lady saying that they would not be coming due to the rain. During the call I was looking out the window at clear skies and the rain that prevented them from coming never came. I figured these people are lazy and didn't want to earn their money. Had my chimney "swept" about 2 weeks ago and was ripped off by John himself. At first his "receptionist" said the cost is $125 for sweeps. John arrived 1hour late, said that he can replace the sand and ambers for me I liked and I said yes (not knowing that he charged me close to $100 for them!), then he says that the chimney itself did not need any cleaning...just the firebox (which at the end, wasn't even clean!) I felt that he was in a rush and just did the job half-ass. At the end, it cost me $170 for the sweep plus $95 for the sand and ambers? What a rip-off! and I was thinking of having him repair the firebox after for a quote of $700...forget it! Please take my advise, go with someone else. read more
