I've been coming to John's auto for years with all my cars over the years. He's always fair and fixed the cars quick. They're great!

My old mechanic in Stanton retired. Which was bad news to me. See, each one of my cars has its own specific car doc. My second eldest, has 220,000 miles on it. If you think that is a lot, another car has 560,000 miles and 3 motor changes on it. She has her own doc that specializes in Nissans. Anyways my Mazda and had a case of the hiccups. Which is to be expected. It is a 2003 with a ton of miles on it. The oil light began flickering after the car warmed up and I dropped below 30 MPH. I was hoping it was just the oil sensor light. My good buddy and Yelper John K recommend I bring it here. All I know is, I needed to take care of it ASAP. Not that far out of North Orange County. Right off Paramount and the 91 freeway. I can deal with driving it that far if I like the place. The entire shop has a gate around it. Perfect if your car needs to spend the night. Your car will be safe. Service was amazing. Dropped my car off on a Saturday at 9:00am and picked her up at 3:00pm. Jason and his crew are super friendly. There was a small issue finding the right size sensor for my car but Jason came through. Prices were very reasonable. Much better than other places I have been to. Thumbs up guys!!! Another one of my cars, (yes we are a car family) is in need of a new motor. John's auto repair is an honest place with reasonable prices. Although nowadays, John's retired and his son Jason's taken over. I've been impressed every time I've been here, because the people here are upfront, and tell you what you do and don't need fixed, and will even let you know if a repair's more of a luxury rather than a necessity, and not needed if all you care about is safety. One thing that I've seen Jason do that I haven't seen a lot of other mechanics do is actually show you the old part that got replaced (if you got a part replaced) and where it was worn down and broken so that you can see firsthand why it needed to be replaced. He'll also tell you if other parts are slowly wearing down and might also need replacement or repair in the near future, and tell you how you'll be able to know (it'll make a grinding sound, it'll squeak, etc.) read more

I brought my car in for a brake job and once it was done they told me everything was fine and i was good to go. Once I got on the freeway I noticed my steering wheel and brake pedal vibrated when I applied the brake. I then took it back and they said my rotors were warped. I had no problems with them before, and they had said everything was fine but now they're warped? So now i have to pay more and had the rotors changed. I drove off and 4 lugnuts came off on the front passenger side wheel... FOUR! I went and bought the lugnuts and asked to get reimbursed but they refused to take responsibility and said they were stolen from where I park and they were not responsible. No, I park in an enclosed driveway with 2 Malinois dogs outside, no one will come in to steal 4 lugnuts. Horrible customer service, I'm just happy I didn't have a car accident because of their negligence. read more

Came in to this place a couple weeks ago wosrst service evey I go in to get my rotors resurface the guy tells me 40 for 2 rotors im like cool then the other worker after he started working on my car ask me how much they charge you so I tell him the mother fucker then says thats impossible thats to cheap then starts arguing with the owner then finished my car supposedly then the another mf took my car for a fucken joy ride around the block brought back and said its ok but after an hour of driving it the noise was worse thats what I get for being lazy and letting someone else do the work for you I wish you give no stars read more

This shop has been at this location for many many years. I remember my father taking in his cars for all the maintenances like oil changes, transmission change, brake job, tuneups, and etc and he would always recommend me to go there. I had some issues w/ my car, getting high vibrations when i brake at high speeds. so i took it to the dealer. they said that i need a new master cylinder and a brake job.. which would have costed $1600 or more. Hell no i am paying for that much.. I mean, the car is a 2005.. i don't need a new master cylinder. So remembering this shop that my father goes to, i went and boy, am i glad i did. John told me that the high vibrations are from the rotors not being even and i would need the rotors smoothed out but upon inspection, they weren't that bad and i didn't need them smoothed out. He did notice that my tires were on the bald side and suggested that i get them replaced. I was going to do this because they were indeed fairly bald. just didn't have time to get them replaced. John also said that the bald tires can also attribute to the vibrations. since i was going to change my tires anyways, i decided to get them there. He ordered some tires and they arrived via delivery truck in no time at all. I got new tires that i was already gonna get..and guess what, no more vibrations. and no new master cylinder~! take that dealership ripoffs~!! now i know why the shop has been around for a long time. friendly owner (he also works on the cars) who is very knowledgeable, and honest assessments. (i was waiting and talkin to a lady who's been bringing her cars for 15 years!) and loyal customers. read more

I was hit by someone about a year and a half ago, and while the company contracted with the insurance did a yeoman's job in fixing the car, there were still a lot of loose ends. McPherson Struts were out, alignment was totally off, etc. I also needed my oil, air, and battery all changed/replaced/fine tuned. Long story short, I needed a mechanic, asap! Lo and behold, John's Auto Repair to the rescue! I was recommended by a friend and got to meet John himself. I was impressed by his honesty and his command of his subject matter. I was even more impressed by his very competitive price and how fast they turned around the car. My car now runs way more smoothly without any vibrations and I am very pleased. 0.5 star Half star just for the fast service... No customers at all.. That's why!!!!! Ripped of price. Came here for a smog check, unfortunately it failed. So the Korean owner said It's gonna be total of 60 for this time and a re- test next time when I fixed my car already. A week later I came back here , the same guy told me to pay $20 more!!!! What the!!!!! I ended up paid $70 instead of $60 as he promised. Liar, ripped off, not honest, that's why no customer here anymore. Plz tell pple that u know, don't ever come here for any service. I saw the sign for oil change $24.95 + tax just for 4 quart. I paid $20 for 5 quart plus new filter and top off fluid somewhere else. read more

Friend recommended this place to me. I recently had my brake pads replaced and rotors resurfaced at a different shop and charged me an arm and a leg.. Had to return multiple times for them to fix a clicking in my brakes after they were done. After getting fed up with them and wasting so much time I decided to go somewhere else.. So I landed at johns auto. They showed me my rotors and showed me that the other guys did a crappy job and warped my rotors from all the resurfacing. For the price I paid to have my pads replaced and resurfaced I walked out of there with new pads and new rotors. For $100 bucks less. Honest guys they got the job done and fixed the issue! I needed a new starter in my car and my Grandma is a customer of here and gave them a high recommendation. I called first thing in the morning and asked for a quote and they said they would call me back with the information. While waiting, I contacted a couple of other places, got some pricing and received a call back within 10-15 minutes. The price I got from Johns was $100 cheaper! I immediately set it up to get my car towed there and when me and my ride pulled up they were already getting started. I went to John's Auto Repair on a reference for brake installations. I wanted to get the job taken care of early on a Saturday morning and luckily they were open! Before going, I called a few other places around the Lakewood area to get some quotes and John's quoted me a good $40-$50 less. The staff is very nice and friendly but the waiting room is a little small and uncomfortable (go figure). After inspecting my brakes, they found that one of the pipes for my power steering was about to bust and was leaking fluid. I knew it was gonna cost me a fortune and was in fear they weren't going to have the parts. Luckily they were able to get them from the dealer. Anyways, it seems like the owner and technicians there really know what they're doing and are knowledgeable about cars. They took care of my rear brakes, the hose and a synthetic oil change for me. It took a few hours for them to complete the job though, but thank goodness I had another ride. I feel like they were very honest and when I returned to pick up my car, they had all of the old parts laid out for me and reviewed all of the repairs which I appreciated. It still costed me an arm and a leg but my car feels brand new again and I have no complaints with the service. read more
