DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS.
My friend chose this company to alter two bridesmaids dresses. After an initial fitting she was told that to make minor adjustments to both it would cost £180, which she paid and we made an appointment for 5.30pm two weeks later to try the dresses on again. At this point- the dresses were pinned into place (satin/silk should NEVER be pinned and any professional tailor would know this).
At 3.30pm on the day of the second fitting my friend was called by Raul, the owner, saying that the dresses wouldn't be ready at 5.30pm and if we could come in at 6pm instead- closing time but we would be able to try the dresses on and check the alterations.
After travelling through from Maidstone on the day and fighting through London traffic from Streatham Hill to Marylebone in time for 6pm- we were told by the very abrupt and rude receptionist that they were closed. We explained that we had been told to come at this time but she had no idea what we were talking about and continued to tell us they were closed.
Finally they realised it was the owner that had called us- but he hadnt told any of his staff- but he wasnt there! When he arrived he went straight to the receptionist- his mother- who seemed to give him a telling off. He disappeared with his tail between his legs to find out what the situation was. When he returned, he ignored us and went straight to his mummy to whisper that the dresses had not been touched. Noticing this, my friend- the bride to be- stepped in and asked what the situation was to be told that after having her dresses for two weeks and having full payment and an appointment booked- THE DRESSES HAD NOT BEEN STARTED.
The wedding is in four weeks in Scotland but one bridesmaid is leaving London in a week, the other in two weeks so you can understand the frustration and stress this was causing the bride!
We were then subjected to some seriously appaling, unprofessional bickering between mother and son which then flowed over to us- the customers- telling us that we could go away or 'get out' and come back in a few hours to collect the dresses while they 'did us a favour and they would fix the dresses.'
After practically being ushered out the door and told to leave and come back in a few hours- we were concerned that if we left the shop we would come back to it being closed and without dresses.
At this point we decided that the best option was to get a full refund- which in itself was a massive effort. We were told that it was not personal- which never once crossed our minds as this is a professional transaction- there was no sense of empathy or responsibility on their part, and were told by the owner he had no idea that his staff were on holiday and so were behind. This is one huge case of poor management, poor customer service and poor people skills.
After reading other google reviews, the one star or less seem to be the real and honest reviews of this business.... as we assume the higher rating reviews were written by the company themselves.
This is not a competitor writing a slanderous review but three seriously let down ladies that now have pre-wedding stress brought on by this business. read more
