We had Johnny's come out this summer to take down a very large (4' diameter) silver maple tree in our backyard. They were super-professional and gave us the best price by 2-3x. Johnny's took a HUGE tree out of my front yard and cut off a GIANT limb off of my neighbor's tree that was hanging over our upstairs bedroom just waiting to crush us to death as we slept! They also cleaned up, hauled off the wood, and ground our stump down below surface level. These guys are professional. After being horrified watching another crew attempt to cut down my neighbor's tree and almost kill themselves I told her to call Johnny's & I left so I wouldn't see anyone bloodshed. Shortly after that, they dropped a big limb on their own equipment & had to quit. She called Johnny's to finish the job & was quite relieved and happy with their work. read more

Buyer Beware! Needed a branch removed from my roof in August of 2020. This company quoted a two month waiting time unless I used their higher priced "emergency service", stated net 30 days terms but required a credit card, charged for undisclosed travel time, and did not clean up the fallen wood and debris. When I had the temerity to question some of these practices, they charged my credit card immediately even though I had withdrawn permission for them to do so. No doubt when they read this poor rating, they "will be unable to find me in their records" as they have done for the other poor reviews they have gotten....or they will come up with justifications for the above. I have since been able to determine that others in the same field do not use these same poor business practices. Again, Buyer Beware. read more

Johnny's sent a crew of three people out to do a somewhat complicated job (avoiding obstacles and not collapsing our septic system) at our place this week. They were courteous, professional and fast! They cleaned up afterwards and left the job site immaculate. The office staff are also very good. I have nothing but praise for this company. read more

Johnny's is the best and most reasonable of all quotes I got. Some tree cutters didn't even want to bother with taking down a mammoth White Oak with huge branches on three properties. Johhny's worked over 2 days on this monster and then trimmed a huge Shagbark Hickory in the front yard. They took down the chain link fence, put down mats under the tires as to not damage the yard. All this in the winter too. They have all the equipment to do every type of job. I am grateful and in awe of their skills. read more

After calling around the greater Jackson, Michigan area for quotes to remove a giant silver maple and a large cherry tree from my lake lot, Cameron from Johnny's Tree Service promptly arrived to examine the job. It was raining and I was late but Cameron was on time and waited for me. I liked his friendly demeanor and he listened to my concerns regarding the removal of the two trees. Within a short period of time he handed me a written estimate which beat the other quotes I had received. Pleased with the quote, I agreed to the work which started a couple of weeks later. His crews used various chain saws, a bucket truck, crane, chipper, and stump grinder to accomplish the huge task of safely removing these two trees which were overhanging power lines. I couldn't be more pleased with the work, including the clean up which left zero mess on my site. I give Cameron and Johnny's Tree Service my highest recommendation for a quality job. read more

I called Johnny's and set up a time for them to cut down our tree which was 5 weeks out. They said they would call to confirm the week of. I called on the 4th week just to verify what day they would be coming out the next week. I was told it would be another 2 weeks. I was like, "Why are you guys behind schedule?" They said they were not. So, I brushed it off and figured I would wait. Then I called again after 2 weeks to see what day they were coming. Again, they said I would have to wait an additional 1-2 weeks! At this point, I was upset and tired of waiting, but they wouldn't admit that they were behind schedule and said I would have to wait. So, I ended up finding someone else to do it within 2 days, only 2 days! Then, I called Johnny's a week before they were supposed to come out (assuming it wasn't going to be pushed back again.) to cancel. They now said I owed them a cancellation fee! I asked why because I hadn't signed anything. They said their quote had a policy on it that they have been using since the company started. I said great, but I didn't sign that quote so you shouldn't give me a fee. They also didn't warn me about this fee. So, here's my main issue. I understand if you have a cancellation policy in effect that says, if you do not give us 5 business days of notice we will have to charge you a cancellation fee. Instead Johnny's Cancellation Fee locks you in to their fee 5 days after you schedule the service! So, I was waiting 8 weeks for their service, but after only 5 days of waiting I am locked in to them, even if I decide to do it on my own, have a friend help me, or find someone else to do it quicker. That is the most ridiculous cancellation policy I have ever seen! I will NOT be using Johnny's Tree Service again unless they do something to rectify the situation, but I doubt they will do that. I just wouldn't want anyone else to get locked into their sneaky cancellation policy. read more
