This business is very busy. Though it took 4 phone calls to make an appointment, when the tech got here he was very professional and knowledgeable. Very happy with the results. read more

I went in for a key that couldn't be made at the big box stores. The friendly technician knew exactly which key it was and about 2 minutes later, walked out with 2 brand new keys for $10. Overall, great experience I'll come back! read more

A homeless man had been sheltering in my old, back yard cottage and I had lost the key. I called Johnny's and within 2 hours Dan came out to fix the cottage lock and rekey it. He was skilled, professional and very nice. More, the cost for this home visit was reasonable. Even more, Dan fixed the lock on one of my gates that the homeless man had broken. I give Johnny's, from start to finish, two happy thumb's up. read more

Honest and helpful. I always get my keys made here. Recently I brought in several locks and they rekeyed them quickly for me.

Great customer service. Excellent value and price. Fixed my bike rack when the key was broken off in the lock . Will go to them again when needing lock and key help read more

Lost my car key and they were able to come out to me, cut and program a new key all before I got home from work. Really impressed with the customer service and fast response. They even got me a spare key! Also cheaper than what the dealership quoted me (they also don't offer mobile service) Thank you Johnnys! read more

These guys were great! I brought in a lock I bought secondhand off Amazon and they rekeyed it to match my other locks. The lady who answered the phone was so kind, and let me come in at the very tail end of a blistering hot day (and, that day, their A/C wasn't working properly). The entire staff was still super friendly, and the service only cost me $14! Worth it. Thanks, Johnny's crew! read more

The lady on the phone was rude, disrespectful . They sold me a key that was wrong and they do not stand behind their work.

I called looking for blanks to a 55 year old boat and they had it in stock! Friendly, fast, affordable service.

My sister was locked out of her place and I called Johnny's to help us out. Customer service is amazing! They are very patient, understanding, thorough and helpful. The techs are very professional and quick. Overall an amazing experience, thank you for helping us out! read more

Been going here as needed for years. Mainly keys but a couple locks too. I can NEVER get the keys I need at any of the silly machines or box stores...which led me to Johnny's. Always in and out quick and ALWAYS have what I need. Yesterday was no different. Thanks! read more

Locked my keys in my car no more than 150' from my apartment at 9pm on a Sunday night. They were there in about 30 minutes and got me back into my car. Wasn't cheap but with service like that it sure beats a rock through the window. read more

Our apartment leasing company uses Johnny's lock as their "EMERGENCY locksmith". Our door was jammed last night when we returned from the grocery store (we didn't lock our keys inside the door is physically broken) and we had no way of getting into our apartment. So I called Johnny's lock to see if we could get someone to come out (around 7pm). Whoever answered literally said "Oh I wish there was something I could do for you, try calling another locksmith". Isn't this company supposed to be 24 hours and an emergency service?! The only other two locksmiths I could find in Chico were closed, because they aren't a 24 hour and emergency service. So we had to wait on our porch for hours until our neighbors came home, then I had to climb on their balcony over to our side and thankfully we had left the sliding glass door unlocked. We are students that had online finals due last night and other finals to study for and it was incredibly stressful not knowing if we were going to get into our apartment to our backpacks and laptops. We even considered breaking the window in the front of our apartment (we're on the second story). Johnny's lock is ridiculous. It's not a 24 hour or emergency service. They didn't care at all that we were in a compromising position due to something that wasn't our fault. I'm shocked by how rude these people are. read more

At Johnny's Lock & Safe, they were willing and able to research and cut a key for the locking fork on my 1936 Wards Hawtorne bicycle. I would not trust this work to just anyone. Montgomery Ward commissioned the Monark Battery Company (later Monark Silver King) to build a line of aluminum bicycles based on Monark's own line of aluminum bikes. The Hawthorne versions were dubbed the Duralium. This rekeying job was not an easy task and Johnny's staff was very nice and incredibly competent - and the price was very reasonable. read more

I needed locks rekeyed. Caden was professional, informative and very helpful. The price to rekey the locks was much less than I expected. Per my request, he called when the rekeying was done. Very happy with the service, and will definitely use in the future. read more

Excellent service. I do not recall the name of the guy who helped me, but he was quick and right on his time estimate. I had my early 90s truck ignition and doors keyed to match. I felt price was reasonable and, more importantly, it was accurate to what he estimated. Only down side was some initial miscommunication where I was told that I could bring my vehicle in for the service but was not explicitly told "you need to make an appointment". Aside from that, very smooth service. I'll use them again if the need arises. read more

Did not actually use this service because at around 11 last night I had locked my keys and phone in my car so called from a store phone. When I called the first time and got an answering machine, I didn't leave a message because it wasn't my phone. After getting permission from the business to use their number to leave a message, I called back and someone picked up the phone and BEEEEEPed me loudly. Maybe this was my "punishment" for calling at a later hour. Why be listed as a 24 hour business? The mind boggles... read more

Pretty disappointed, used them prev. Made several attempts to order a lock. Went in in person. Called to see if it was in. Hadn't been ordered, said they'd order & call us. No call. Called again wanted us to start over. Total lack of follow up or customer service. read more

Excellent customer service, keys were duplicated quickly and accurately plus very reasonably priced! I will definitely return.

I called and talked to Scott who was extremely rude on the phone. Not only did he have a bad attitude, he mocked me as if I was an idiot. Unfortunately I was in a desperate situation and no other locksmiths could help me with my problem. Upon arrival, the locksmith called me and was also, very rude on the phone. His service call lasted about two minutes and he did not help me whatsoever. He charged me $60 for absolutely nothing. Oh wait, maybe a two minute drive over and about $2.00 in gas. I called Scott back to see if he could do anything and he basically said I was shit out of luck. I would avoid this place if possible. read more

I came in wanting a couple spare keys for my front door. These guys are open when the other nearby ones are not. There was plenty of parking in front, though honestly, I missed the building the first time I drove by it due to it being a bit tucked away. I paid less than I expected, and I was in and out with my new keys in less than 7 min, also less time than I expected to wait at some big box store. The man that did my keys was nice. I recommend this place read more

I have always received great service from these folks, whenever I needed a key made or anything else they do (door signs, etc.). When I called them yesterday to have the locks on my business re-keyed, they arrived within an hour and were finished re-keying three locks (with about five keys apiece) within 30 minutes. Professional, pleasant and prompt. I wish more businesses showed more of this! read more

I was really impressed with the professional demeanor that was displayed at the visit. I phoned in the afternoon asking the price and procedure needed to come to my home and make a duplicate car key. I lost my keys and had no transportation. The representative gave me an exact amount for fee and said he could be here before closing that day. When he got here, it maybe took 20 minutes to make the key. He was kind, professional and explained all the services available with his company. I'm sold. Very nice doing busy with Johnny's Lock and Safe. read more

I can't say enough nice things about this place!!! I had some unique key blades that I needed cut & cut right the first time; it would have taken weeks to replace if they had been wrong. I was helped right away, & the gentleman who assisted me was not only very friendly, but he also kept me up to date about what he was doing to accommodate my weird keys. BOY, did he know his keys!!! I really felt like my new keys were taken extra good care of! The price felt like a steal as well, I had gotten a couple of quotes from others, & they charged me a less than a third of what other mobile locksmiths would have charged. They will absolutely be my go to place for any lock or key issues I run into in the future. read more

These guys got me new door keys for my truck in under an hour! Reasonably priced and gave me extra keys at no additional cost. was looking for electronic deadbolt with 5" backset-rare. called the big box stores in town-HD was helpful but unable to help. L*** not only was impossible to reach the right dept-but I got hung up on 4 times today. DONE johnnys had what i needed in stock and slightly more expensive but you get what you pay for in service. over the phone he offered several options and was awesome to deal with. not only did jonnys have the 5" in stock but.. being pleasant goes a LONG ways unlike the other place which is down the street at over 2x the price and not in stock. read more

Fan-frickin'tastic customer service! You can't go wrong here. The sales associate, Alex was helpful, informative, and personable. We changed out the deadbolts on our house today, and wanted the added security of having mushroom pins installed within the lock itself to prevent bumping, and make it next to impossible to pick. Alex hooked us up, showed us what he was doing, taught us about how dead-bolt locks are put together and how they work. On top of that, he explained to us why it was going to be one of the best, and one of the most secure dead-bolt lock we could install. Period. What's really IMPRESSIVE is that he took a $17.00 Brink's dead-bolt from Wal-Mart, and turned it into something priceless to me all for less than $15.00, and it's safer, and better than what they sell at the stores for the $30-$40 range. I'm not easy to impress when it comes to customer service, but this place definitely goes the extra mile. Like I said at the beginning - You can't go wrong here!!!! read more

I needed a new chip key and paid good money to have one made. Now I learn that it was cloned from the old key, and because the two keys are identical, they cannot be used to program a third key. read more

As a property manager, The experience I had with this company was extremely unprofessional. When calling and inquiring about making a copy of a key the representative who answered the phone was extremely rude. His communication was poor and not helpful. Simply put, I called to make a copy of a key from this company. As a company vendor I did not expect to be referred to a different company for the cutting of my key. After I asked 3 times if they provide this service, His response was "Well Yea? I was spoken to as if I was an idiot and I did not appreciate the tone. In the past we have used this company for eviction lockouts re-keying homes and providing laundry security. Per this conversation I have canceled the vendor relationship and will continuing business with another company. The man that answered the phone today's job I believe, is to promote business bring in clients not refer or Outsource services. As well as maintain a professional and respectful customer service attitude. He displayed none of these skills. Good luck to this employee as I feel he should be reprimanded. I will come by the store and speak with a manager as I do believe this deserves a conversation. Amazed this person has a Job still as I see in the reviews that this is a pattern of behavior. My advise would be to Hire someone to represents your services and does not act inconvenienced by simple questions. read more

Guy on the phone was so surly I couldn't even get past one minite...when I asked what was wrong he hung up on me...

They made my spare keys and they didn't work so they told me to come back when they had more keys , this is the most unprofessional place.

Good experience. Just came in to replace some automotive keys since Home Depot fancy system couldn't do the keys. Fast and reasonable prices. Recommended. read more

Fast , prompt service after locking keys in car. Wasn't a long wait and very professional and evonomical

As far as I'm concerned, they are a RIPOFF. But probably so are all of the others. I lost my car keys and found the key code in the glove compartment. So I took it down to them and they charged me $56 to "look up the key code on their computer" (literally less than 30 seconds) and make TWO keys. That's $28 per key! If I had brought my key down to them to make another, it would have been $6. THAT IS PRICE GOUGING PLAIN AND SIMPLE, and literally should be illegal. It is criminal. Taking advantage of people like that. FIFTY-SIX DOLLARS for TWO keys. Just because they can and you have no choice. So I won't be going to them again, but like I said, they are probably all the same. If anyone knows of someone who is actually ETHICAL, and CARES about their customers, and chooses to not treat them badly, and not take UNDUE ADVANTAGE, let me/us know, and we will go to them. read more

I would NEVER use Johnny's Lock & Safe again. I made an appointment 2 weeks in advance to have them come to an easy to find location and open 2 filing cabinets that we had lost the keys to . They were very late and then went to the wrong location across town. My appt. was for 9:30am and they arrived at 11am. It took the guy about 8 minutes to unlock the cabinets and they still had the nerve to charge us. Bad Business! I grew up in Chico and will be telling everyone I know NOT to use Johnny's Lock & Safe. There are plenty of other lock companies to use. read more
