Johnny Was has got to be my absolute favorite brand of clothing!!! They're clothes are soooooooo absolutely, intricately gorgeous. The bright, vivacious prints, with the crocheted floral, oh my i could spend hours and millions in this store. The one downfall is that i pretty much can't afford to buy very much, too often here!!! I have exactly one thing, a beautiful shrug that i get soooooooo many compliments when i wear it!!! I sm soooooooo excited to see that they are now carrying blankets, i definitely know what ill be putting on my Christmas list this year!!! (: However, despite the fact that ive only bought one thing here, the employees still treat me like i am their #1 customer every single time i walk into the store and browse around and leave once again without making a purchase. New California based beautiful modern wear has expanded it's doors to Scottsdale Fashion Square mall. This saavy sheek store offers a variety of collections that have been sold in Saks and in Amazon. I was impressed by the collection. The designs are very modern free flowing looks that can pass as Arizona summer wear to modern day casual wear. There are plenty of accessories throughout the store to add that extra flare. The store was at least 1,500 square feet neatly displayed with various sizes for different types of body frames. I am a woman who loves dresses. I have to say this store had some beautiful pieces that I would wear. This was my first time experiencing Johnny Was. I was impressed by the variety, store cleanliness, easy to move around. It was very comfortable. The sales reps were very friendly. Not pushy just delightful and engaging associates that thanked me for stopping in. This store has something to offer that other stores in the mall don't. I highly recommend stopping in to check it out. The items are sold at a higher price point but the pieces are worth it as they are made from quality. They are also not items you will see everyone else wearing. Many must haves throughout the store. read more

The store (and clothes) is awesome; however, I'm here to thank Tara, my fashion rep who went above and beyond to make sure that I purchased the correct-sized jacket. I admit, I don't like it when fashion reps follow me around the store when I'm trying to look at clothes and think about whether I want that particular item or not. Tara sensed that I was this way and waited until I looked her way to ask a question. The coat that I liked was a tad bit large and was going on sale several days later. I did not put it on hold for the sale purchase as I wasn't sure about it. When I returned, the coat had sold. Tara told me there were several more in the larger size in their backup warehouse and only one in the smaller size in another store. As I was on vacation, she offered to ship both sizes to me to figure out which was the better fit. Tara gave me a label to return the one that I didn't want for refund. Upon returning home, I tried the smaller one on and, as she had predicted, it was the better fit. I shipped the extra jacket back. Tara was prompt in processing the refund. I can't say enough nice things about Tara and this store, with such a great team (including Janet who helped confirm the refund while Tara was off) whose joy in their job is evident in the way in which they make what would appear like an arduous process run extremely smooth. read more

I have always been a loyal customer since the store opened. However, my last trip I went in and ordered a jacket. To date that jacket had not arrived nor has my money been returned when the jacket was determined to be "unavailable". This has been going on since August. I live over an hour from the store so it's not easy to just pop by in person. Emailing back and forth had got me no where.. why is it so difficult for a return when they can take your money in a second?! read more

This store is AWESOME! The Gorgeous bohemian inspired prints and silks are stunning and so easy to wear and care for. I moved from Chicago last year and after a lifetime of collecting coats, boots, scarves and hats, I was seriously in need of warm weather clothing. I had owned a few pieces of Johnny Was, from the cool boutiques in the midwest that are smart enough to stock a small selection. But coming into this store was like a nirvana bonanza cornucopia of beautiful offerings. I couldn't believe I moved to a town that had a Johnny Was store! I immediately bonded with Summer, sales person extraordinaire and she is my go to for all things Johnny Was!!! I am lucky to know all of the wonderful people there and you will always get as much style advice as you need from Summer, Brittany, Francine, Janet... along with their happy smiles, excellent service and inspirational modeling of current styles. The clothes wear beautifully, most are machine washable AND dryer friendly. The store is neat and easy to shop, grouped in colors like the most wonderful garanimal collection. They always have more sizes in the back so if you're a Large or XL, as I am, don't hesitate to ask them to grab you one from the back. They never mind! I am generally a private shopper and don't need or want help. In other stores, having to request my size would annoy me. But not here. The ladies help efficiently, with any level of participation you are comfortable with and it's worth carving out a chunk of time to peruse and try on. It won't take you long to find the cuts that flatter your figure (another bonus - they offer different shapes and cuts in the various patterns and colors so you're guaranteed to find something you love, no matter what shape you are. And those cuts have continuity from season to season so it is easy to get to know what shape will be your go to. But I do think trying on is a must here to find the right size and cut). And if you let them, the wonderful staff will make it so much fun. It's the only place I have ever shopped for clothes where I can't get enough of working with the staff and I seek their input. I have shopped there with friends and relatives, young and old. This store truly has something for women of all ages. Before I became a devoted fan, I primarily wore black. As in, every day. Thanks to the colorful silks of Johnny Was, my days now include a world of prints and mood elevating palettes and colors. And yes, they have gorgeous styles in solid white and black. There is rarely a day that goes by that someone doesn't compliment a top or dress I am wearing. And with the Arizona heat, I sure love throwing my favorite summer time staples into the laundry (off peak hours, of course). Thanks to JW, I have lived here over a year and still don't have a dry cleaner. Summer learned my preferences immediately, is happy to let me know when something comes in that she knows I will love and she has worked with me to develop a whole new comfort zone - far outside anything I could have predicted. They will also special order something for you, if it's not in stock. It is my zen/happy place to shop because it just doesn't get any better. Oh and did I mention the signature scarves with the wonderful tassels?! Divine. Affordable. Washable and will make any outfit all the better! The clothes are as beautiful and unique. I have been a JW fan since the early 2000s. I have noticed a huge price increase over the years and the quality of the brand, change drastically. It does seem to have gotten a bit better from the past few years BUT the Scottsdale fashion store seems to be "slow" and behind on things. I shop at the several the California and Florida stores and they seem to have all the new stuff way before fashion square. Decorations clothes scarves etc.. it was my first time going into the Arizona store so maybe that is why? The girls were absolutely amazing except for the manager (I believe Kristina was her name). She seemed so entitled and let the girls "below" her do all the work but she took the credit for it? Just left a bad taste in my mouth. If she ever leaves, I'll consider going back! read more

I'm not sure where to even begin but let me preface by saying that I have a teenage daughter with special needs and a very short attention span and shopping can be difficult at best. I took my mom to Scottsdale today to shop (We live in Sedona) and it was by far the best shopping experience we have ever had with my daughter. Kristen and the other gal (Sorry I can't remember her name) were so kind and attentive to my daughter. I have never had an experience before where she was treated so kindly and with so much respect. I already own lot's of Johnny Was items and my mother and I spent quite a bit today, but we will make sure to come back again and again. Absolutely made my day, thank you. read more

Customer service was thumbs down for me. I walked in on a pretty slow day and not one person spoke to me until I walked out. I love Johnny Was Clothing and have bought several pieces over the years from the other locations. I guess I will be sticking with my Newport Store for now. read more
