I visited Johnny Hustons last night for dinner with my family. The service was a little slow and our waitress wasn't very friendly but was attentive. The food was all great and the fried mushrooms were FANTASTIC. Best I have ever tried and the order came with plenty. They were so good that we returned this morning when they opened and gor an order to go! The resteraunt was clean and the prices were fair. CREDIT CARD OVERCHARGED FOR TIP! We visited on vacation and the food was decent - service was fine. Once I got home and was totaling up the cost of our trip I noticed $2 was added to the total of my bill (should have been 23.24, but was 25.24). I can even see the pen imprint on my receipt for the tip amount and total. Visited on 9/10/15, server was Deb. I called the restaurant and they did nothing to help and when I requested a call back from the manager I never heard anything. read more

Ok, so a few months ago my husband and I got take-out from here and they were AWESOME. We both got the 13 dollar shrimp and oyster po'boys and fries.We also got the fried mushrooms which tasted great and we got our money's worth! The po'boys were fresh and they were huge sandwiches. They were overflowing with shrimp and oysters. We liked what we got the last time so we repeated the order, but had a much different outcome. We literally got half of what we did previously, to include the order of mushrooms. My sandwich had THREE yes THREE shrimp on it and just TWO oysters as well! My husband's sandwich faired a bit better, he had THREE tiny oysters. I thought this was one of the places that treated the locals right, but I just lost all faith in this establishment. read more

We thought we would check this place out because of the reviews but boy we were wrong. The atmosphere was odd and un inviting . I ordered the turkey burger special and it was barely cooked and horrible! The veggies came straight from the frozen bagged section at the grocery store. To top it off the service was bad. Don't go. Food was overpriced for portions we were served and quality. And service was deplorable! Waiter looked like he was still in high school or barely out as did 90% of the staff. And he repeated everything like 4 times. My date ordered Double Crown & Coke, what he always drinks, and he had 2 drinks. He questioned the first drink and even asked me to take a sip, said it tasted like maybe bartender had used diet or maybe their ice/water had a bad taste. He didn't complain, but after the food came and was a disappointment and his second drink still tasted "funny", we just asked for the Check. Our jaws dropped at the $60 ticket, which included $38 for the 2 drinks. Questioned the waiter and he said it was because they were doubles and the Crown "Select" or "Black", which was not what my date ordered and why the drinks tasted off to him. We insisted that the ticket be corrected, since that was not what we ordered. Waited said, "Sorry I can't do that." So we asked to speak to a manager. It would have been one thing if that was what we ordered, but we didn't and even reminded the waiter that he even read the order back to us excessively. --- Manager was even worse!!! Said we should have complained sooner and not drank the drinks. Which 3/4 of the second drink was still on the table since my date couldn't stomach it. He didn't care, demanded that we pay our ticket and go elsewhere if we didn't like the prices. We were appalled! Would have gladly paid for what we ordered and some halfway decent food and service! This was my second visit to Johnny Huston's, and I was thoroughly unimpressed with our server and the owner. The place was completely understaffed for Saturday afternoon. The hostess was pulling double duty by trying to manage the front door as well as bussing all of the tables...which caused a massive seating pileup at the front door. We waited 15 minutes to be seated. Our server took our order, and we never saw her again...until she brought our food. She forgot to put in our appetizer order; therefore, it came out with the meal. I ordered the southwest salad..according to the menu, it was supposed to come with tortilla chips, salsa and chicken tossed in their baja dressing...the The few tortilla chips were crumbled, there was no salsa, and it came with sour cream and guacamole..and no salad dressing. The menu made no mention of guacamole and sour cream. After our server delivered our food we never saw her again. Since we waited so long to be seated and to get our food, I ate the "wrong salad" because I knew it would take another hour to locate our brain surgeon and get the correct meal. I had to locate the hostess to ask her to send over a manager and our server. Apparently the "manager" was the owner, and he was EXTREMELY rude and dismissive. His excuse was The items on the menu were incorrect, and he was having new menus printed but failed to tell the servers or the customers. He made excuses for the server as well claiming she was "new." He rudely asked what I would like him to do about the salad and our lack of service. By this point I was so frustrated with our lack of service and the owner's treatment, I told him to forget about it and we would never be back again. He left to find our server to bring us our check (he couldn't even locate her!) When they both returned, his attitude had mildly changed to something resembling human decency...he "graciously" Took off half of our bill, and I "graciously" left her 10%. It will be a long time before I'm visit this place again!! read more

Decent food, bad service. After the menu rework that ended the pizza burger and Philly burger there just isn't a reason to go here. Best burgers in Navarre because they are pretty much the only choice. The food isn't terrible and I've had quite a few good times here. 3 stars is my average of experiences because I've had everything from a perfect evening to walking out before getting my drinks. Been coming to JH since the day it opened, it went from a quirky little restaurant in a building that used to be car garage to what it is now, a nice, established restaurant. While the food is great, over the years the prices have steadily gone up. I understood that prices will rise and continued to patronize this establishment. That is until today, I called to place a to-go order like I had done so many times before only to be told that to-go orders must be placed online. WTF! I've never heard of a restaurant doing this before. Is this really a thing? So long JH, it was good while it lasted. read more

The burgers! That is why my husband and I stop here for lunch or dinner. Absolutely the best burgers around. I can't complain about the price because it is obvious they are quality 10 oz patties and hand-made. My husband always gets the Guacamole Burger. I have had the Bunless Burger, Spinach Artichoke and Queso Burger, and BLT - no complaints. We love the sweet potato fries with sauce. This is not a cafe that caters to vegetarians - simply a sports grill and bar with awesome (and appropriate) food. read more

The food was very good, especially the burgers. Waitress (Brittney) was exceptional...kind, attentive, friendly and smiling the whole time. The manager was horrendous when we asked to get a pizza comped because it arrived after everyone had already eaten. Her exact words...."I am accountable to someone!" My husband and I go just about every Friday night. We just love that we have a local place with great food, wonderful atmosphere and staff above most. We have never had anything that wasn't up to our standards. We can not say enough about the whole staff. Most defiantly will continue to be one of our favorite places. My wife and keep giving this place a second chance since we are within walking distance. The mixed drinks are horrible, the food is OK and the service is nothing special. We ordered a margarita and thought we might have mistakenly been given a virgin margarita. The server said, "oh you should have ordered the Top Shelf Margarita." The prices for the quality of food is high. It looks busy but it seems to be a lot of locals stopping in for a quick bite. It's not a "hangout" by any means. There is definitely better around. I would recommend this place for a non-mixed drink and nothing else. read more

This is my parents favorite restaurant, I am visiting them and we have already been three times, and I've been during past visits. They have something for everyone. Everything I've tried has been amazing. The catfish tacos are by far my favorite. The edamame is amazing, I love their fried pickles, and the corn salsa and regular salsa is really good too. I didn't see it on the menu the last couple times, but the first time I went here we ordered the brisket or roast beef nachos (I can't remember what they were called) but they were amazing. They should put them back on the menu. My mom and I shared the pulled pork sandwich and roast beef sliders--so tender and delicious! My dad always gets the wings--crispy and perfect amount of heat, you can still taste the delicious buffalo flavor without your tastebuds burning. I like to get something new every time because they have such a delicious variety. The waitresses are always nice and friendly, service is very good and speedy considering they are always busy! But the food is always fresh and hot. I see why my parents love it so much and go so frequently. read more

We ordered the the fried shrimp meal with mixed veggies and mushroom and swiss burger with bottomless fries. For starters, the mixed veggies tasted like they were just poured out of a bag from the freezer. Barely warm and absolutely NO flavor whatsoever. None. NOTHING. The shrimp were rather large but seemed to be reminiscent of salad shrimp on steroids. Large, yet not very tasty. Quite a bit of breading also. Many of the local restaurants here have fresh-from-the-gulf seafood but this just doesn't taste like it. The breading has a good flavor but it's just not quite the seafood expected from the gulf. Having said that, the mushroom and swiss burger was amazing! Very large portion with bottomless fries. The fries are seasoned well and the burger has a great flavor! That was worth the trip there. If you want good seafood, go to a seafood restaurant or someplace on the water such as Laggerheads. Oh, only Pepsi products folks. No DC here! lol read more

Cute atmosphere. I've been there twice and have gotten the pig in the garden salad. It's so delicious! And huge - I always take half home. Service is friendly and attentive, even when it's very crowded (which seems like always, but that's a good thing!!) my boyfriend gets one of the burgers- I think the half burger or something? Doesn't look like much from the road but the the inside is surprisingly large and well decorated. Food is very good with large portions. It was great! Me and my boyfriend went here for our one year anniversary and we really enjoyed ourselves. The macaroni and cheese burger was delicious! I had bangin shrimp salad. Very flavorable. Husband had fish tacos-unusual for him, but he said they were very good. Seven year old wanted pizza..but we talked him into the pizza grilled cheese. He enjoyed that. We also had grey goose martinis. Not all places get those right. They did! Fun conversation with waitress. She was friendly and attentive. Liked the atmosphere as well. Enjoyed a family vacation a few weeks back in Navarre, Florida. Had never been to the area, landed upon a GREAT place, Johnny Huston's!! The staff was so friendly, met Mike one of the head cooks on our first visit. He was not working but made sure our order was perfect!! Our bartender, Turtle, was also a great guy!! I had ordered a vodka grapefruit, had no grapefruit, but even better suggested Ruby Red Vodka, Wonderful. We enjoyed conversations with the locals, every night we visited. Felt almost at like home, we are from San Diego, Ca. The shrimp is to die for, not to forget the mac'n'cheese. The Turtle tacos were another fav!! The food is amazing, but the service is the worst. I am completely disgusted with how my husband and I have recently been treated at Johnny Huston's. On Nov. 12th, we came in right at 11am and sat at the bar. The chalkboard sign up front said that Trapeze is a Belgian IPA, so I asked the bartender if it was a true IPA. She said yes, so I ordered it based on the sign and her confirmation. When she gave it to me, it clearly said wheat ale on the can. I made it clear I didn't want that, but she did nothing about it. Then she went on to ignore us in order to clean and stock the bar for the next 15 minutes, while my husband and I patiently waited for her to remember our existence so we could order food. The food tasted great. Then I asked her for an actual IPA and she brought me the Circus City IPA which was great. Thankfully my husband was willing to drink the wheat ale so it wouldn't go to waste. I mentioned the sign to her and she corrected it before we left so it wouldn't happen again. I contacted Corey Mobley via Facebook to let him know of our experience. I should have known something was up when he didn't ask any questions about specifics, he just sent me a gift card. We returned to try again on Nov. 18th at around 7pm, and again sat at the bar. The same bartender helped us. My friend ordered nachos and she brought it out without queso. She said he asked for cheddar cheese instead of queso, but he swears he said nothing close to that. It was corrected easily enough, but I thought Corey would want to know that this was our redemption visit and the same girl still isn't listening to us. I told him that I have been in the service industry for 15 years, so I understand that mistakes happen and I am not looking for anything in return. I just thought he would want to be aware that there are repetitive issues. He began making excuses for her and then called me a liar. His first response was, "She's been working here for 3 years and complaints are rare, so when they happen, I consider them miniscule." Then he said, "Oh, and I saw the sign you referenced in your first complaint and it doesn't say IPA." When I reminded him that she fixed it that day, his response was, "No, I have a picture of it before you came in so I know what it said." At this point, it is no longer about the bartender's lack of attention to detail. This is 100% about Corey Mobley. It is his job to ensure people want to come back. Making excuses for poor service and calling your customers liars shows that he has no idea how to be a restaurant manager. I am disgusted with how he handled this situation. Johnny Huston's makes the best food in Navarre, but it is clear to us that the GM doesn't care about customer satisfaction. read more

With a change of leadership this place would be awesome. The staff was amazing, our waitress was fantastic, and the food was tasty. Upper management however....horrible. Probably one of the rudest general managers I have encountered. The general manager could use a lot of customer service training from his manager and staff vs. avoiding everyone while sucking down drinks at the bar. I would really welcome the opportunity to go back to this establishment, not because it is one of the only places to go in navarre, but because it could be a great place. However, the upper manager left such a bad impression to us, that we will gladly go miles out of our way to find any other place to spend our money and time. Which is unfortunate because again, the rest of the staff was quite amazing and with better leadership I can only imagine how much better they might be.
