08.29.25, Clarksburg, WV. We were attending the 46th Annual West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival in Clarksburg, WV. While there were many food vendors with great-looking food options available, we were looking for a place to eat lunch away from the crowds, out of the sun, and that offered salads. Johnny D's was our choice. Food (4.5/5). The three of us, all adults, ordered three entrees. The two were from their Greek Specialties part of the menu --first, a Gyro (lamb meat, Tzatziki sauce, lettuce, tomato, and red onion on Pita bread with a side Greek salad. ($10.75). The Greek salad featured iceberg lettuce, tomato, red onion, green pepper, and cucumber. Second, a large Greek salad with Gyro meat ($12.75). Finally, from the Salads menu, a Grilled Chicken Salad ($9.75), with the same salad ingredients mentioned above plus grilled chicken cubes and choice of dressing. Upon ordering the honey mustard, the server mentioned that their creamy ranch is homemade, so I switched to the ranch. Overall, the food, and especially the Gyro and the homemade ranch dressing, was excellent, and the quantities were excellent So overall a very good value. In fact, we took the side salad + a bit more salad home. Slight mark-down in our rating because the salads were made with iceberg rather our preferred romaine. Service (5+/5). We were well taken care of by our friendly server, who may have been the owner. We were particularly impressed that, it being near closing time, he was preparing to distribute leftover prepared foods to the homeless "rather than letting it go to waste." Ambiance. (3/5). Note that the restaurant offers take-out and delivery. We would definitely eat here again when next in Clarksburg. read more

I have eaten at this place many times. It was formally known as Dagwoods. This is the first time I have had their pizza based on a a recommendation from my neighbor and it was very good. I have also had their gyro (super good), fries and gravy, and a few of the hoagies. Give this place a try. The variety is good and so is the food. read more

Cheese steak sandwich, awesome! One of the best around! I had never been here before, but I will return.

So, let's start with the food was good, but the cleanliness and atmosphere left a lot to be desired. We had the steak subs (the Italian Cheese Steak without marinara sauce) and French fries. The sub rolls were nice and soft and tasted good, as well as the actual filling. Also, my drink (they only have cans & bottles here, no fountain drinks) was flat and tasted funny and upon looking I found out it was bottled in late March (over 7 months ago. Side note: no one was wearing masks, so if that matters to you, I would avoid this place. read more

We stopped here for lunch on a road trip to Ohio. It's a nondescript storefront in downtown Clarksburg, with seating for about 20. Like some other reviewers said, they have subs, pizza, cheesesteaks, etc. We ordered a pizza sub, a couple slices of pepperoni pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, a tuna salad, and potato soup. The pizza was hot and crispy, and looked like a hand-rolled crust. The spaghetti came with three large meatballs, and was way more than my daughter could eat, so we took the rest home. The pizza sub was hot and juicy, and crispy on the outside. The downer was the salad - it was all iceburg lettuce and not very good packaged dressing. But the best thing was the soup - all of them are homemade. My potato soup was creamy with nice chunks of potato, plain but satisfying. However, while we were waiting for our food, the chef gave us a couple tasting cups of the cream of crab soup. I live in Baltimore now, so it's not like I can't get good crab soup. But this soup was something else - rich and creamy, with a decent amount of crab to give it a seafood flavor, and with just enough spice to make it interesting. I would definitely go back for more of the crab soup - but I'd have a sandwich instead of the salad. read more

This place is owned by my good friend's father. So it's family owned with a strong background of Greek heritage. Amazing pizza like no other,, subs, gyros, soups, basically anything you can think of, Dagwood's has it. The prices are awesome as well. It's been years since I've managed to get into Dagwood's. When I used to work over at the old hospital before it moved and I started my traveling lifestyle, this used to be the sandwich place coworkers and I would order from on the regular. I'm in the area for my quarterly visit and happened to be downtown running errands. Of course I had to stop in because I remember the food being fabulous in the past. Ordered an Italian cheesesteak and a Greek side salad. It was good, but not to the caliber it was in the past. Perhaps traveling has altered my perception of good food, but I didn't feel the same level of wow. Still, it was a good cheesesteak. Had grilled onions, peppers, and mushrooms. Bread was soft and the meat tender. I'll just cling to the memories read more

I hardly ever rate someone with one star but this place was horrible! Called in an order for delivery. After an hour of waiting I called back was told he was on his way after 30 mins later food arrived cold. Do not order with the pepper spread, tastes nasty! Awesome food! The gyro didn't come with the cucumber sauce like I'm used to but it was still delicious! The staff is great. Bad reviews apparently just people with personal problems with the staff because I saw nothing wrong. Don't expect anything fancy. It's in downtown Clarksburg. This is a great little establishment in Clarksburg. Not being from the area I thought I would give it a try. I had the shrimp basket with fries that was just perfect and a much better price than you would find at chain restaurants. The fiancé had a steak and cheese sandwich and said it was the yummiest one he has had in a long time. Definitely worth the venture to this no frills eatery. read more

Cheesesteaks are very good! I would go five star just based on the steaks, but I also have had a pizza and it could have been better. Atmosphere leaves something to be desired, but the food is very good. This place will continue to get my business and I will recommend it to all sandwich lovers. I order the Italian Cheesteak. Great subs when you order your own toppings. Dirty, unpleaseant to eat inside. Always take out but would love to eat in. They did paint but lacks clean anything. Just not welcoming. Possibly change the way they refer to customers as "honey, sweetieand dear" it is rude salutaion no matter education Mr., Mrs., Sir or mame still works for addressing the paying customer...old school thought. read more

I love this place! My parents and I are regulars; we vary between a pizza and sandwiches/hot dogs and all are good. I don't care for their current hot pepper spread that is optional on their subs, but thats just a personal thing. I LOVE the white pizza here, and the hot dogs are excellent! The food was good, but only order delivery if you have 2 hours and 23 minutes to kill. Ordered our food at 7pm, they said it would be about an hour, at 830pm I called and they said the driver was out on delivery and would be back in about 15 minutes and would bring our food. At 915pm the driver called for directions made it here at 923pm. read more
