My husband and I went to see Dr. Napolitano by recommendation of a friend. Though the doctor seemed nice, our experience there was awful. There was always a wait of atleast ten to fifteen minutes to even get seated in your chair. The front desk is mostly unmanned because the same girl does all the secretarial and insurance work as the dental assistant so no one is at the desk when she is with a patient. Your records are just sitting behind that desk for anyone to come and take.
The person doing the billing as well as the doctor either do not understand the billing or they are running a very good scheme. I was told that they took aetna and they copied my insurance card and supposedly contacted the insurance. However, after both my husband and I each had a lot of work done (multiple cavities filled, deep clean, exam) we finally found out that they were out of network. HOW COULD THEY HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE INSURANCE WITH OUT EVEN CHECKING IF WE WERE IN NETWORK!!!! The "secretary/dental assistant" informed me that my group number was not one that they took. I had no idea that the group number made a difference. But she apparently did and had failed to inform me of this.
We ended up owing an extra $500 dollars on top of the hundreds we had already paid for all the work. What do they care, they got their money whether it be from the insurance or out of our pockets they do not care.
I do not recommend this doctor. He had his own agenda. I went to him because I needed a crown...very badly. I had gotten a root canal almost a year prior. He proceeded to do an exam, ignore the tooth (that I just found out didn't even have the temporary in anymore) and proceeded to fill other cavities. I mentioned multiple times that I wanted to crown but he kept saying that he needed to take care of other teeth first. I also wanted my retainer to be taken out because the O rings were causing tooth decay and he said he would but never did. Maybe years later when he was done with his agenda would he take care of what I wanted done.
I am very frustrated with the deception. That is why I am trying to get the word out to be very cautious of this doctor. My husband tried for over half an hour one day to get the doctor and his "secretary" to explain the billing sheets to no success. He left still not understanding it. We should have walked out that day but against our better judgment we kept going to him.
Please do not make the same mistake we made. It could cost you.
I went to a new dentist today and he had to fix some of the fillings that Dr. Napolitano did around the tooth that needed the crown. Apparently his work is less than stellar.
You can go to him if you like but in my opinion you are throwing your money away like I did and getting less than excellent dental treatment. read more
