I'm beyond thrilled to get my teeth straightened here. I've had braces twice growing up and as a new mom my teeth have gotten crooked since childbirth and I wanted to correct them. This office offers affordable options for those with dental insurance and they've made this whole process seem less and easy to follow with the trays I've been given monthly. My teeth should be in their very best shape come next April and my results four months into my treatment has been easier than braces ever were as a teenager. I highly recommend this friendly, clean office to those looking to get their kids or their own teeth straightened out. This is the second time our family has chosen Dr Smoron and his staff for orthodontics. First, it was me with adult braces... so fun, ha! I didn't have braces as a kid so it was all new to me and they made it easy. Now my 9 year old has begun his 'first phase' and he's handling it like a champ! He's worse than 1 star. Debra A's response sums it all up. What was supposed to be a 6 month "limited treatment," has turned into almost 2 years (with another dr. presently) because of what he did to my front upper 4 teeth. I have regret every day that I let this person touch my teeth with a bur. He changed the natural appearance of my teeth after telling him several times that l liked the length and shape of my teeth. Now I have to consider veneering my teeth because of what he did- made my teeth look like little chicklets. Rather than placing full mouth brackets (which he should have done), he was very confident that placing 6 on the upper and 6 on the lower was all I needed. When I had asked about intruding my lower front teeth, after he had burred my upper teeth into chicklets (my lower teeth appearing longer than my upper), his response- "you needed full lower brackets to intrude lower teeth, if that is something you want to consider, I suggest that you get a second opinion." I should have chosen my current orthodontist than this clown. At least my new doctor listens, works with me and is open to ideas. read more

Do not go to this orthodontist! I went there about 3 years ago, with high expectations. I wanted to get Invisalign to improve some minor flaws of my teeth. One of my top front teeth stuck out a little more than the other. Also, I wanted all of my top from teeth to align together perfectly. I didn't need anything for my bottom teeth. Most people said it wasn't needed at all. Dr. Smoron talked me into doing "Red, White, and Blue"... basically a cheaper version of Invisalign. He said that we would only need to do the top teeth and he could fix them perfectly. He asked me if I had any alignment problems (i.e. jaw popping,etc) and I told him that my jaw popped occasionally. Well, after using the Red, White, and Blue aligners and going to Dr. Smoron, I am more than displeased. While I didn't spend very much on the "work" he did, I did end up in need of more work and better alignment. My two front teeth are straight, but none of my other teeth are different at all. Also, now my jaw pops all of the time, because what he did misaligned my top and bottom jaws. So, every time I eat crusty bread or anything chewy, my jaw pops so loud that my husband can hear it. My teeth are okay, my jaw problem is horrible, and now I need to spend much, much more money fixing these problems. read more

We as a family have been very disappointed by the overall lack of customer service and communication from Dr. Smoron. Initially we were highly referred to him by a local dentist, had been given a great presentation and had three of our five children go to him for braces and orthodontic work. Over the past six years, it went from constant direct communication with Dr Smoron with a personal touch to almost zero communication with him directly as everything had to go through his staff - period! Then when you tried to communicate with him you were ignored or would get emails from him with no accountability. If you are going to invest thousands of dollars in your child's smile and would like to work with someone that you feel that is invested in your child(ren) and family, I would look elsewhere. Feel free to post to refute this claim as I have several specific examples to use. Oh wait, on a positive note. He did send us a copy of the our daughters medical files so we can go somewhere else to finish treatment. read more

Very great first appointment for two of my girls today! First and foremost, there was a sweet welcome on the rotating screen behind the front desk. They were ready for us right away! Michelle took pictures and was able to present recommendations for both girls within the hour! All my questions were answered, the recommendations were very conservative and honest and we left happy. Dr. Smoron is wonderful. We were very pleased with the entire process of my daughter's braces. Her teeth look great! From the first consultation back in mid-2014 to the final removal of the braces this past December. This office is very warm and welcoming - EVERYONE is so professional, friendly and kind. My daughter looked forward to her appointments and enjoyed changing the color of her bands at each appointment. They provide you with exactly what the treatment plan will be and at the end of the process they will even monitor for wisdom teeth that need to be removed in a few years. My experiences with Smiles by Smoron have been nothing but positive. I was referred to him by my other orthodontist when I moved back to Mount Prospect from southern Illinois. I used inOvation clear braces at the time. Fortunately, we were able to pick up right where we left off in terms of the adjustments needed to finish up my treatment, which lasted about a year. Dr. Smoron and really all his staff are really nice. You check in electronically when you get in. It always feels so personal because they have a screen where they acknowledge your visit, whether you're getting an adjustment, getting braces on, or getting them off. That's always kind of nice to see. They have brushing stations so you can get all cleaned up before any kind of adjustment/placement, which is nice because I'm always paranoid about having eaten, etc. I really enjoyed my experience there. read more

Dr. Smoron and his staff have done great, professions work. I had braces on partially as an adult and only needed 4 months to get to my desired outcome. They are timely, friendly, patient and I had such a good experience. I didn't dread going to the orthodontist once in those 4 months! I would recommend for kids and adults. I could not have been HAPPIER with my choice of Dr. Smoron as my Orthodontist! Prior to choosing Dr. Smoron, I performed extensive research in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago for an orthodontist that I could trust...being that this was my second go around with braces. Dr. Smoron went above and beyond my expectations (and my expectations were high) for my treatment. Over the years since I had braces the first time, my teeth started to drift and my jaw adjusted a bit. While interviewing other Orthodontists in the area, a couple doctors went so far to say that I required jaw surgery to correcy my bite. Clearly, 1 1/2 years later, and after treatment with Dr. Smoron, this was not the case. Dr. Smoron's method for correcting my bite was innovative and carefully planned out. It allowed me to avoid jaw surgery and still achieve the smile I was looking for. Dr. Smoron explained the his plan for my treatment in intricate detail (as an engineer, this is something that I appreciate), and I am happy to say that 1 1/2 years later, it went exactly as he said. I had an appointment with Dr. Smoron at least every 2 weeks, and I was very pleased that not once did I wait in the waiting room past my scheduled appt. time. More often than not, I was brought back early, and was on my way home much sooner than expected. My case was somewhat unique in that I moved to Texas towards the end of my treatment. Being that I did not want to pick up treatment with a new Orthodontist in Texas, Dr. Smoron went so far as to schedule off hours appointments to help me finish treatment prior to relocation. I honestly cannot say anything bad about Dr. Smoron and his wonderful staff. I really did enjoy my time there, and while I won't go as far to say I miss braces or having someone working on my teeth on a bi-monthly basis, I will miss the Dr. Smoron and his very friendly team. One of the worst experiences I've ever had with any doctor of any kind. The office and staff are fine, though somewhat quirky and a bit unprofessional. I suppose they are trained to be that way, though; so, just doing what they are told to do. Dr. Smoron seems very into the general marketing and operation of the business (you even get a silly rewards card that renders no reward) but is himself out of touch, and has not mastered the art or science of orthodontia or of good patient care. He does appear to have a huge ego and will tell you repeatedly how much he knows about "moving teeth," without ever offering a persuasive, plausible or respectable explanation for what he is doing or not doing. What orthodontist seemingly cares so little about the result--and in the end makes your teeth look worse, not better? Your jaw and occlusion almost worse than you can stand? Mine was a simple fix that he botched. He does not listen well...follows his own agenda, makes unauthorized changes, then takes no accountability. When you tell him of your dissatisfaction, he blames you then walks away, even though he's very much in charge from start to finish. And speaking of charges, mine were exorbitant for what he delivered. I don't imagine he actually enjoys his profession; in fact, he makes his assistants do most of the work. I was referred to him by a trusted source, then told after the fact that he/Smoron mostly works with children (who are generally not discerning and otherwise helpless and have no voice). Don't put your kid through this experience...and if you are an adult, trust your instincts and walk out--I sure wish I had. read more

I took my daughter to this orthodontist and was told that there would be no problem fixing her teeth and mouth structure. Over the course of 3 years he never spoke to me about any problems then one day Dr. Smoron said oops don't think we can do anything to help her. $4500 later she had to have jaw surgery which was another 10,000 on top of the fact we had to put more braces on her teeth. After I was done with him ended up spending almost 20,000. Worst mistake ever read more

I would not recommend him to anyone. Oh he was nice in the beginning...Dr. Smoron dumped my daughter as a patient right in the middle of her time in braces. The reason he dumped her is because I made a complaint (nicely I thought) about him leaving her in the chair, in an uncomfortable position (with her mouth open) for an extended period. I found him meeting with another patient in his office and requested that he return to my daughter. Afterward, I privately voiced my concerns to him. He then proceeded to call us into his office and tell us we needed to find another ortho. He behaved rather immaturely and clearly cannot take any constructive correction. It is not easy to terminate this kind of relationship midstream, and of course it was time consuming to find another ortho that would take her in mid-treatment. His concern was not for her though. He made that abundantly clear. read more

We are so pleased with the orthodontic work Dr Smoron did on our 14 year old son. He had been going to a different orthodontist for many years and did not want to have any more work done. Dr Smoron presented us with several options and my son chose the shortest one. He just got his braces off and we are so happy with the results. I starting going to Dr. Smoron about 18 months ago and I am so pleased with what he has accomplished. I was told by other Ortho's that I would need to have surgery to correct my bite but Dr. Smoron loves a good challenge. I believe he is the most contemporary, and most resonable Orthondist in his field. I am 45 years young and I wish I would have met him a long time ago because I receive compliments on his improvements almost weekly.
