I ended up getting a root canal the same day as my consult. This was great for my procedure anxiety and helped save time and money on office visits. The procedure itself: a dream experience compared to the root canal I had a few years ago at a different office. Dr. Gilbert was in favor of me listening to my book with headphones to help me be comfortable. He clearly relayed info as needed and was very receptive to my hand signals if I needed anything. The best part? Half an hour! No crown! No pain! My other half didn't believe it could be done so well and so quickly. He's just a pro! The bridge was old and vulnerable, I was worried and asked Dr Gilbert if he could do the root canal surgery by going through my gum instead of the teeth in the bridge. That is exactly what he did, a very intensive procedure he handled with total precision. I felt no pain at any time. The doctor even had the latest equipment to control the speed/flow of my Novocaine injections so they would not hurt. After the procedure and stitches, I followed Dr Gilbert's advice and am experiencing a remarkable recovery. His staff and assistants are a pleasure to meet and work with whenever you are there. After years of dental problems - severe TMJ, repeated fractured teeth, crowns that I would grind out of my mouth in my sleep despite multiple different mouth guards - I decided to try a new dentist and found Dr. Farid. Instead of telling me how we would fix each individual problem that I was having, she told me we needed to change how my mouth works as a whole. I was floored - in all the years of going to numerous dentists, no one had EVER suggested that my mouth could be fixed! She laid out a plan for how we would accomplish this and told me the end result would be teeth that are functional and beautiful. It has been somewhat of a long journey, but right on point with the expectations she set during that first meeting, and I can now say that she came through on her promise and, somehow, more. Thinking about all she has done for me brings tears to my eyes every time. She saw me as a whole person instead of looking at a tooth or a cavity that needed to be fixed. She takes so much care in her work, and always gave me as many options as she could to make me as comfortable as possible. Now all my crowns and bridge is worn down and has holes because it wasn't cemented correctly. Now I have at least $15,000 worth of dental work to be done. I called the office and left a vm explaining what happened. I used to be a dental assistant. You have to check the bite to make sure it's not hitting other teeth and dental work so this doesn't happen. I never got a call back and now I'm stuck with a big expense.

I was told two root canals could not heal and that I needed implants. I sought a second opinion…read morewith a specialist, and retreatment successfully saved all teeth. I felt the initial recommendation was premature. This was decided after only one month of a half treatment and they used a temporarily filling which degrades in one month which is not even enough time to regenerate bone growth. That temporary filling caused me to do the root canal all over again because it got contaminated. They are good for standard root canals but not specially difficult cases.

Dr. Mele made sure that I have a comfortable, pain-free experience, that I am well informed regarding my treatment plan and that I understand that I am a part of the treatment decision process.
