The doctor kept telling her it doesn't hurt and that 3 year old kids handle this without crying. How is that reassuring? Also, the assistant had no idea how to answer any of my questions and had to have the doctor explain which took longer to track her down again. Explanation is that they got a new system and made a mistake. Finally, my son had a cavity and also needed some topical put on his teeth. I knew the topical wasn't covered. They quoted $324. LOL the bill was over $800 and now they're saying they gave me that quote. But their online portal STILL shows they quoted me $324 for that specific visit. Amy reported it's a glitch and in her system it says I was quoted $800. Not to mention I called about this on 12/19 and 12/30 and just got a call back today, 1/3. I'd highly advise not going here based on this review and the other recent ones.

I've been a patient of Lakeside Dental for several years. Dr. Century actually knows my previous…read moredentist through their dental fraternity, so I knew I was getting a continued excellent standard of care. What I got was even greater; an escalation. Lakeside's x-rays are digital, which means they expose us, the patients, to far less radiation than a traditional x-ray. While important for adults, this is also particularly important for children. Should you require a procedure that involves more than a cleaning, they have video glasses, and a large library of movies that you can use to pass the time and distract you. I only used them once, for a tooth whitening, but it was far more pleasant than twiddling my thumbs for an hour. If you don't finish the movie, they'll even let you take it home, so long as you return it in a timely fashion. Lakeside is a preventative practice. They have a device (can't remember the name) that can scan your teeth for microfractures, and put it up on the screen so you can see it yourself. This lets them get the jump on a problem, when it's treatable by fluoride, or at least a less-invasive, painful, and expensive procedure. Again, I haven't needed anything from it, but it was cool to watch. They also have a therapy dog, Nano, that can sit quietly in the lap of nervous children (or adults) during exams. It's not just flash; Dr. Century does top-notch work. I've got several friends who have seen her for complex surgeries, crowns, etc. They even have a milling machine that can creates the crowns within an hour on-site, so you don't have to come back for an additional visit. With digital records, it's easy for them to track progress of problems over the course of several years, so you can see when it's time to do something, or when you're close to getting that perfect gum exam. Sadly, I haven't yet. Someday, I hope. My last visit was on a Saturday, and I saw Dr. Wolf. She had a relaxing nature about her, and I would trust her to do anything my teeth required as well. Outside of specialties, I've had 4 dentists in 50+ years, but have been with Lakeside long enough to know that they are top-notch. Dr. Century is a pioneer in the use of lasers, and over my time with the practice, has been flown to give seminars on the use of lasers to other dentists. Dr. Century is a rock-star; very well-known in her field. Oh, I almost forgot. Every visit includes topical fluoride at the end. No other dentist ever offered that, at least not without what would have been an extra fee. Lakeside costs me a few dollars less than my last dentist for an exam and cleaning to boot. I suspect that the vast number of 5-star reviews that appear hidden on this page do so because people have only a review or two of short length, and no real history on Yelp. While I can appreciate that Yelp is erring toward the side of caution, especially given some recent bad press with paid-for reviews, I think that, in the case of this business, you can be a bit less dubious. I found I get as much detail as anyone could want on my options, and as much time as anyone could need from any of the staff. If they run late, which they rarely do, they give you a gift card for lunch as an apology. They are a medical practice that stresses customer service. I've referred people to Lakeside, and will continue to do so. I drive there from Glenview, which is kind of a haul, and would still visit them if they were twice as far.

Here is the post "My daughter and I went to Tom Jackson to get some implants, etc. done on her teeth. During our first visit, Tom examined my daughter's mouth and afterwards told us he thought the whole procedure would come in just under $20k. We thought great, seems reasonable and went ahead with the process. My daughter, who lives out of town, flew in for the second visit to start the process. The following day we receive the treatment plan from his assistant. The estimated cost was a little over $34k (70% above estimate). We were flabbergasted. We called Tom and asked him how he could have been off that much on his original quote and he said "I don't do billing". Needless to say we stopped the process and looked elsewhere. We found a very professional outfit, very highly rated and who my daughter was very comfortable with and whose treatment plan estimated the total cost at under $19k for the same procedures (less than Tom's original quote). What a terrible experience. My daughter has gone through the first part of the procedure and everything looks great. One other note - after we called and complained, Tom said he would refund our fees for the second visit (not the first) but we had to sign a nondisclosure agreement (gag order) not to discuss this on social media.
