    Great customer service!!!
    Breaynn T.

We found John Michaels good eats off yelp and decided to come give it a try. It's a cute little atmosphere kitchen/bar. First off, the customer service was off the chain! I didn't get the man's name who took our order, but he needs a raise! He made the best recommendations and had nothing but good things to say about their menu. He sat with us for about five minutes helping us decide on our order and didn't make us feel rushed at all. You order at the front and pay there. Once we ordered we found our seats and started speaking with the bar manager, Nelson. He gave us a little bit of the places history and was super attentive. Me and my mom both truly enjoyed our meals and we will be back!

Great salads. I got the chef salad for lunch and it was super filling. They have great ranch dressing and the service was fast!

This is the saddest "Philly cheese steak" I haver ever received.

14 dollars for a "Philly cheesesteak " .I have eaten here before and the food was great but this time the customer service wasn't inviting and the food was absolutely horrible.

Honestly I don't see the hype. The server was very nice but it took way to long for the food to come out. Not her fault at all as she kept checking on us throughout waiting on the kitchen. I got the seafood combo and I honestly regretted it. The fish tasted spoiled and the shrimp were just bearable. I was pretty hungry after not eating all day so I didn't send it back. Lots of tvs around and and a bar. I never went to the original location so it was my first time. My husband said his sandwich was ok but it was full of onions and little meat. Don't think I'll be back.

We stopped here on our way back from New Orleans. We were greeted and assisted immediately upon entering. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean and had a good vibe. They have a nice bar area, and it appears as though you could get pretty much any drink imaginable. It took us a few minutes to make our selections because they have a HUGE selection of sandwiches!! We ordered our sandwiches and found our seats. They arrived in a reasonable amount of time. I got the French Dip with a side of pasta salad, and my husband got a muffuletta with Cole slaw. The pasta salad was average, but the French Dip sandwich was absolutely AWESOME!! I would highly recommend it, and would absolutely order it again. My husband enjoyed his sandwich as well. We were very pleased and will absolutely stop again when we are in the area!

    Old soft, soggy tomatoes

This is the second time I gave this restaurant a chance. Their salads are amazing... well they used to be when they were in the old location. Today I went in and got a grilled shrimp salad (already knowing the last time I went I said I would never go back). The veggies are wilted, soft and just not any good. Today is Tuesday, you would think the tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce would be fresh. The tomatoes seem like they were from last week. The cucumbers were soggy. seems like they had been frozen a few times. I dont think I am returning. It's too expensive for what I am getting. $12 for a salad. It was a call in order that was supposed to be ready in 20 minutes not 45. I am not a fan anymore.

    Kid's Mac N Cheese
    Erin R.

It was our first time at John Michael's Good Eats. Everything we ordered was delicious! The Spinach and artichoke dip was awesome, the kid's Mac n cheese was delish, & the meatball Alfredo pressed poboy was pretty good. I love when a restaurant has unique items on their menu, & that was definitely one of those for me! We will definitely be back!

Excellent food, the chipotle shrimp wrap was awesome and reasonably priced. It looked like they had a lot of other options as well.

So close to home, so delicious, and perfect treat after long work week!…read more Bala oyster special appetizer was a spot on to curb hunger as we began meal. Highly recommend appie special. We both decided to have steaks and WOW! Filet with cream spinach and Cajun ribeye special were the entrees. Beverages paired nicely! I've found the blueberry lemon drop to be my ABSOLUTE favorite cocktail they serve. Destiny was our waiter and she was attentive and on point with beverage refills. The bar just seems to run a bit slowly... wait time for starting round on average seems a bit slow. Appreciate how restaurant has many smaller rooms to keep noise levels down.

As soon as the hostess sat us down I noticed that the table were very close by each other which I don't like simply bc I could hear the next tables conversation and it was hard to have a conversation of my own. Other than that, the service was good. Our waiter was very nice and efficient and knew the menu like the back of his hand! I ordered the Dru Platter which was the choice of two items off the seafood platter and I got the friend shrimp and fish and it was pretty good. The shrimp were my favorite and it was fried and seasoned very well. For dessert I had the white chocolate bread pudding and it was very good! Very moist and not to sweet but just right! If I go again this would be something that I would definitely get! No if, ands, or buts about it! That bread pudding was a 10/10! Overall, I would rate this place. 6/10!

After a previous not-so-great experience at the bar, I received a call from Jason, the General…read moreManager at Don's Seafood in Gonzales, who personally reached out to apologize and invited me to come back so he could take care of us. He said, "Next time you're in Gonzales, please stop by -- I'd love to meet you." So this past Sunday, Parker and I went in for brunch -- same time of day as before -- but this time we sat in the dining room, and the experience was completely different and absolutely wonderful. From the moment I walked in, Ava at the host stand smiled and said, "Oh, you're back!" and that right there is what I love about great front-of-house teams -- you feel remembered and welcomed. I asked if Jason was there, and it turns out Sunday is normally his day off, but he came in just to see us. That alone meant so much. He was warm, fun, genuinely hospitable, and made us feel truly cared for. And then Connor came by -- now sporting a mustache that somehow makes him look five years older -- but he recognized me right away and gave me a big hug. That kind of genuine connection says everything about the people who work here. Our server, Aaliyah, was phenomenal -- friendly, attentive, and always offering great recommendations with the best attitude. We started with Bloody Marys (which we loved), then ordered 3 pounds of crawfish, which also comes with corn and potatoes. It's early in the season, so they were lightly salty, but still absolutely delicious and perfect with the local draft beer we ordered (I believe it was from Parish Brewing). Such a great pairing. Parker ordered the half grilled shrimp with chicken gumbo, and I had the fried oyster po'boy with seafood gumbo -- mine was fantastic. His gumbo leaned a little salty, but overall everything was flavorful and satisfying. And then... Jason surprised us with king cake, just in time for Mardi Gras. He recommended strawberry and I also went with a classic because I'm a traditionalist when it comes to king cake -- and it was perfect. What really made the experience special was the atmosphere: families, couples, friends -- you could feel that this is a true community spot that people love. It was lively, warm, and full of good energy. Thank you, Jason, for going out of your way and turning a bad experience into an unforgettable one. Thank you, Aaliyah, for being such a wonderful server. And thank you, Connor (and that mustache ) for the hug and the warm welcome back. And thank you, Don's Seafood, for reminding me why this place is such a Gonzales staple. We'll definitely be back.

It is a staple of the I-10 corridor and Don's Seafood is a Lafayette standard now expanded to multiple locations. The Gonzalez, LA location is full of Cajun and traditional southern charm with a modern feel. I sat at the bar and got my Abita beer (my New Orleans go to) and a heaping plate of crawfish (standard 3lb order with corn and potato sides). Takes me back to growing up down south and well seasoned, not too salty or lip burningly spicy. Excellent size for early March as well (if you want mini lobster big, visit in early May). The bartender stayed attentive and made sure to get me the second Abita to wash it all down. Can't wait for my next trip!
