I tried to replace a GFCI Outlet myself and spent hours working on it. After going back to Home Depot a couple of times I still wasn't able to get it fixed. So glad we called John! John, Charles (his apprentice) and Merryjayne (office line) were all wonderful. Merryjayne especially is such a sweet soul! Situation: Our circuit shorted in the middle of the night to our kitchen because of an overload of appliances. Long story short, the high AMPs through the 20 amp line in our older late 60's home was causing the wires to melt and once they cross - that's right - fire risk! We are so glad John was able to see the issue and gave a reasonable quote to fix ($275 current day to do copper rewiring, etc. and $1500 for another's day project to place 2-3 new circuit breakers so this won't be a future issue). What I appreciate about John and his team is that he answered all of our questions and help us understand the issue. Great honest company with a very fair price after speaking with my husband and father-in-law, who worked in electrical engineering in the past. I have used these guys in the past to install a ceiling fan and to install outdoor light sensor lights and have always been happy with the work, the price and the friendliness of John and his helpers. I found how honest they are today. I had a problem with a GFCI outlet so I called them to come out but instead they walked me through fixing it myself when they could have come out and charged me a service charge and to fix it. John himself may be an excellent electrician but the tech that he assigned my install cost me to replace wine room compressor twice $$$ due to prematurely failure caused by tech's negligent improper wiring. The newly installed electrical junction was "shorting out" arcing inside as evidenced by burned wire causing wine room compressors to "hard start", prematurely "killing" compressor. When I showed John photos of arching within junction box he "blew me off". Once wiring within junction box corrected, replaced compressor operating normally. Ps. Belated review. read more

We had asked many electricians if they could install LED pool step lights and no one wanted to take the job. At a time when customer service seems to be diminishing, I'm happy to say it is alive and well at John McCraw Electrical. After replacing an outlet in my home, I lost power to one room. I called McCraw and spoke with Merryjayne who told me they were heavily booked but she offered some ideas to fix the issue. They didn't work but later she spoke to her husband and called me back with the solution and I was able to fix it myself. She went out of her way to help two seniors on a retirement income and saved us a service call. I called last Thursday asking if someone can come out and take a look at a wall switch for a ceiling fan. I was asked to take photos of the fan and switch, and text it to them. She will show her husband when gets home that night. I also sent a photo of a flush light in the kitchen that isn't working. She asked if I tried changing the light bulb. That should have been my first clue to not go any further with this company. They do not repair flush lights, they retro fit them now with LED. I have 5 lights, that will cost you $675.00. The next day a text says that they need to check their wholesale house to get a cost on a wall mounted ceiling fan control. Sent my email address and home address. That was Friday, today is Tuesday and no call back, no email. Stay away from this company! read more

I highly recommend this business. We've had them come to the house three times now. Always on time, professional and make you feel safer. First trip we had a Ring floodlight perfectly installed in a tricky place. Second trip we had a large number of wall sockets replaced. This third trip we had an intense flash burn from an extension cord at a wall outlet. I felt for sure we lost two major appliances. Turned we lucked out. A simple outlet swap (not one we switched before) The main fuse and line in wall were fine, thank goodness. He even repaired a dryer wall plug that was hanging loose. I won't bother calling anyone else anymore, even if they claim 24/hr service we've had issues with other local businesses, if they ever pick up (last night we called 10 nobody who claimed 24hr business picked up and no call-backs). I'll just button down for the night (with ice in fridge as we had to) and wait for McGraw electrics companies next working hours. Ten stars.
