They gave me a hard time about it, wanting to have a sheriff come as well. Asked for my I d and I told them it was in my house. I had to give my credit authorization and consent or they would not do the work. The technician had a very hard time understanding English and my mother asked him what the TOTAL bill including everything Labor installation etc. he stated "around 350 bucks". I authorized the work but I had no choice because he had already taken the lock out and I could not leave the door that way. When I went to pay the bill he told me the total charge was $445.00. I said we were told 350. He said that didn't include labor. The work was done I couldn't not pay. When I received the receipt it stated "including tax and tip" I never authorized a tip! Who says he deserved a tip!!! The bill went up $95.00 in 10 minutes!!!? I got a call that was s courtesy call and stated that to the woman in the phone who told me the technicians make up the final price to charge!!! So, if he decided he wanted a 200.00 tip he would've just added it to the bill!!! Very poor service, very poor business practices. If there was less than one star I'd use that for a rating. I'll never use this company again. Rip off!!!

i called and was given an "emergency" price to allow me access to my son's condo unit in boston…read more the set of keys we had did not turn the tumbler, only the entire cylinder in the door frame. they (my son and daughter in law) were at mass. gen. hospital for the birth of their first child and we drove to boston from nyc to greet the new arrival. neighborhood locksmith first quoted me a $35 travel/service call and $65 to gain access. i said, "fine." he showed up at the front door and said, "ooh very expensive lock." he gained access quickly and advised that it would be $500 for a new lock and installation. i did say, "ok, [thinking i had no choice]." he then took the lock and our key set around the corner (which concerned me) and came back to say he didn't have a new lock that would fit. so, he fixed the old lock. in my opinion that should have been the first option. that took about 5-10 minutes! he then still charged us the $600 for the new lock, even though he never provided one. but, to make this worse, when i was told he could fix the lock i specifically asked if all of the current key holders (meaning my son and daughter in law) and their keys would still operate, he said, twice, "absolutely." however, when they came home with newborn their keys did not work. i called this "locksmith" and he said, "well you didn't say it was a master key system." "i had no idea and aren't you the 'locksmith.' my son needed another locksmith to break in again, and then that locksmith repinned his door's lock for a total of $128, with new keys provided. i would never use neighborhood locksmith. i think he is a wise guy and that he takes maximum advantage of other's distressed situations.
