Dr. Whitney has always been great--kind, attentive, and truly caring when it comes to my baby's needs. He takes the time to listen and never makes you feel rushed, which I really appreciate as a parent. After trying another doctor in the office, I honestly wish I had just waited for Dr. Whitney's availability instead. The difference in care and bedside manner was very noticeable. I would not recommend this doctor or PAMF. Took my son in and was charged $500. Appointment lasted 15 mins, he was prescribed medication and they did an x-ray. The dr asked us to return the following day for a follow up which we did. We were charged $400 for a 5 mins follow up appointment. WTH? I have been asked to pay more for this appointment than i would have been charged at an urgent care or ER or his regular pediatrician. Such a rip off! read more

INCREDIBLE DOCTOR! I took my very sick 11-year-old son to Dr. Whitney two days ago. I scheduled an online visit at PAMF urgent care in Los Gatos when my son's fever spiked and was not responding to Advil or Tylenol. I immediately got a phone call from Dr. Whitney telling me to drive over immediately. We were taken back right away, and he spent 3 1/2 hours with us. He was able to get the fever down to 101, improve his blood pressure and he also ordered a variety of tests, blood tests and an X Ray. He tested positive for influenza A and Dr. Whitney said it looked like the beginning of pneumonia. We left the office at 8pm on a Friday with medication, and he scheduled an 8am Saturday video visit with us to check in. He also gave me instructions on when to head into the ER if things got worse during the night...and they did. At 1:30am we went up to Stanford's pediatric ER. At 8am, Dr. Whitney called Stanford and talked to our ER doctor to help come up with a treatment plan for our son. Today, he called me to check on him again. I had never met this doctor before Friday, and I can confidently say this was the BEST urgent care doctor I've met in my life! He was also right on with the diagnosis. Even the Stanford ER doctor said, "If you can't get a follow up with your pediatrician on Monday, I'd go back to your urgent care doctor, Dr. Whitney! He was great!" I cannot thank Dr. Whitney enough for the incredible care my son received. He went above and beyond!!! read more

This guy has serious issues. Combative, argumentative, gruff, rough and unpleasant. My 5 year old left screaming in horror about the "bad doctor" and to be fair the even worse male nurse at the Los Gatos PAMF Urgent care. Wish I could give negative ratings for this doctor. He has good experience but has zero empathy. Does not have patience to listen to the problem. Extremely rude, not patient with kids. Very arrogant and snobbish. It was very clear from his tone that unless the patient is dying and he gets to play God, he does not care what the patient is going through even if they are kids. I see from many positive reviews that he has given special care only if the kid was in a serious condition. And that is what he told me in the office today when I went to see him. I went o his office for an evening 3:15pm appointment. My kid had loose motions all morning and had not eaten anything since morning not even water. he saw her and said she is not sick enough to be in hospital, her tears are still coming in (she was crying) . If she was dehydrated, she will be in the hospital. And just said go talk to her primary care. when I tried to explain to him that is this not her normal behavior, can you please check, he snobbed me and said again she is not serious, come back when she is serious. I don't know her history, I see her now she is not serious might have the bug go see her primary care ! The tone was so rude. Is this the way to talk to the parent of a sick child ? it was as if he was disappointed that the child wasn't sick enough for him to come and save the day. He needs to understand being a doctor does not make him God and we go to him for the service he provides, for which he gets paid ! He acts like he is doing charity and we are at his mercy. There are more brilliant doctors who are down to earth. He does not deserve to be a doctor. Experience and intelligence does not make a person a doctor. Without empathy , world's most brilliant doctors are just robots .. would never recommend him ! We got assigned to him via urgent care on a weekend. Will never go to him again! Horrifying experience when I brought in my 3 year old. Very condescending and rude, showed no effort to comfort the patient, showed minimal effort or patience to assess the child in a way that is easier for the 3 year old, but ordered to put her on bed to force open her mouth because it was a "quick and easy" as he calls it. He would render no information what is really needed to treat her but only offer excessive and unneccsesay procedures to "confirm that she does not have what she is not showing the symptoms for". I had no choice because he was the doctor I had to see at the Los Gatos urgent care but next time, I would ask what doctor was on site and might as well drive further to Palo Alto than seeing this one. read more

I work in healthcare and my wife is a physician. Brought my kid in because she was not feeling well, and I've not been quite so taken aback by the lack of bedside manner in a long time. Canned greeting, no eye contact, clearly was in a rush to leave the room as fast as possible. I would forgive all that if his work was precise, but it wasn't. Gave me instructions on how to treat my daughter's fever, when she didn't even have one. And it said so right on the visit summary he handed me at the end of the visit - her temp was 97.3 degrees! The staff at this location really is just phoning it in. They don't care so much about customer service. At least PAMF made it easy to make an appointment. read more

I was in the process of looking to see where Dr. Whitney was currently located, when much to my surprise I came across these negative reviews. My son saw Dr. Whitney several times over the years when our normal pediatrician was out of the office. We always found him to be very knowledgeable and thorough and not afraid to give his professional opinion (a rare quality in doctors these days). He has a quick wit and no nonsense attitude, which perhaps can be mistake for rudeness? In any case, my son who was fairly shy when he was younger really liked Dr. Whitney and so did we. read more

I have not thought about Dr. Whitney for a while. We haven't lived in the area for a long time, but when I saw these reviews I had to write my own. Dr. Whitney saved my son's life. It is as simple as that. We switched pediatrician's to Dr. Whitney when my son was 5 months old and had been hospitalized at Good Sam for respiratory distress. Dr. Whitney took us seriously from the moment I met him. He told me my son was far too ill for an infant and needed a full work up at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital. He had connections there and got us in right away. It was quickly discovered that my son's airway was 90% obstructed because the artery from his heart was compressing his trachea. He would need immediate surgery because the next cold/cough could kill him. Because of Dr. Whitney's action, our son is alive and well today. He is now a healthy and active 14 year old boy. I am forever grateful to Dr. Whitney and can't imagine what our life would have been like if our paths hadn't crossed. read more

I brought my 7 month old son in after his first exposure to peanut butter led to hives and vomiting. After my son vomited he was calm and looked fine but I still brought him in. Dr Whitney appeared very non-empathic, tired, and sent us home after just a quick checkup. He didn't provide any prescription for an Epi pen, directions on what to do if my son got a rebound reaction, any referral to allergy; he just sent us home and told us to follow up with our pediatrician and avoid any more peanuts. We got home in about 1.5-2 hours, and my son had a rebound reaction to the peanuts soon after we got home, much worse than the first reaction with hives all over his body and itching and throat/face swelling. I had to call 911 and my 7 month old son had to go to the ER by ambulance. I am a physician. I have since learned about the risk of a second delayed reaction up to 6 hours later. I am shocked he did not keep us longer for monitoring, did not start my son on Benadryl and steroids (which he should have), and that he did not prescribe an Epi pen/Benadryl/steroids for me to get prior to going home. This was very irresponsible and medically inappropriate. I am glad my son survived his second reaction. read more

We have seen him last weekend in the urgent care of Los Gatos PAMF. As most other reviewer are saying, he didn't really try to make my son comfortable during the examination, yet we were completely satisfies at the end. He was direct and assuring. He listened us carefully and explained his diagnosis. When we left, we knew exactly what to do about the situation. He send his report to our pediatrician and he also followed up with a call two days later. I believe that's exactly what you need from a doctor. read more

I just visited this doctor at the Los Gatos Pediatric urgent care. He is direct, efficient, thorough, and to the point. I had no problems with his style. He may not indulge in baby talk with your child but he was concerned, compassionate and made my daughter feel at ease. I like him and would go back to him with my kid in a heartbeat. read more

If you love your child, I think you should stay away from this doctor. Sorry for using such strong words, as only that sentence can sum up the experience I have had with this Doctor. My regular doctor in unavailable and I needed my son to be seen by someone as he has been getting feverish for the last week or so. This guy came angrily to the room where we were waiting , My son who otherwise a very happy kid, started crying just by looking at him like never before , By looking at his face you can say how scared he was, so when my son was crying uncontrollably , this Doctor didnot even look at my son but was asking me for symptoms in a blunt and rude way , he asked me to put my son on the table and hold him with my own hands , then without even touching him he looked in his nose and very rudely put a scale in his mouth to see inside , I was feeling terrible seeing my son crying after being scared so much . So during the entire appointment he didn't utter a single word to my son . I have never written any negative review in my life for a Doctor before, But I sincerely think this Doctor needs to be reviewed and stayed away .
