My problem started when I had an accident, in the fifth grade. My two front teeth were chipped, one to the point where it began to turn dark. Eventually I had crowns placed, but that one tooth continued to give me problems for many years. About 20 years ago, enter Dr. John Buzza. The good doctor has seen me thru root canals, extractions, crowns and more. As of 3 weeks ago I went in to finally fix the damage that was done long ago. It was extensive and I won't lie, also expensive. However, it was worth EVERY LAST DIME and I have no complaints. My husband said that I was taken care of like I was the only patient in the office. Now that I have my new smile, I can't stop smiling and I owe it all to Dr. John, both Brittney's, and Francisco who made sure my medication was on point, for a virtually painless procedure. This office is a money hungry dental office.. they require a security deposit just to book an appt and then you have to pay for whatever procedure your getting onto of the security deposit so I don't understand what is up with the security deposit if I still have to pay either way. It makes no sense to make two separate payments. My last appt I wasn't charged receptionist said there was no charge for that day but then ended up speaking to Cheyenne I was trying to set up a payment plan and then she hits me with that's going to be $105 for today I did not pay that days later I speak to her and she quotes me $500 security deposit. read more

This review is unique in that it focuses on one individual at Dr. Buzza's office who has made each visit a special one. Lindy, the registered dental assistant, always goes above and beyond in her care. She is friendly, compassionate, and extremely gentle for those of us who suffer from dental phobia. I have an additional health condition, FND (functional neurologic disorder) and so I experience unpredictable seizures that cause full body paralysis. Today, while getting fitted for my nightguard, I could feel one coming on, and got the medication in me, with husband nearby. Lindy stayed in the room with us, and made me comfortable, even bringing ear plugs to block out the beeping noise that was adding to my episode. I 100% don't trust this dentist office. Customer service was rude on the phone, and they lied about my insurance and the cost. It took just a few phone calls to find out they were over charging. If I could give zero stars or even -5 stars to this dentist office, I would do it in a bit. I am not a person who likes to give bad reviews on companies, but this office is an exception. Just a few days ago, I got some sort of glass or hard plastic incrusted into my mouth. Don't ask me why, but it did happen, so I called the office as an emergency and guess what? the receptionist reply was "I'm sorry we can't see you but your appointment for cleaning is due in 4 days. You can come and we will take a look at it." That is the best answer I have ever received. He is an excellent dentist, albeit quite expensive, but his work stands up, and he's always been professional, conscientious, and rarely causes me pain. Not only was the bill way more than we agreed to, but WAY WORSE, the dental work was bad! They "fixed" my front tooth, and the bond they used chipped immediately. Dr Buzza is an absolute scam dentist out for your money. His radio adds and his on line add is laughable. He could care less about his patients which is why he only is there to say how many teeth he wants to do something with and has his staff do all the work. He talks bad about his patients while working on you and they literally had to find him to have him make sure the temp crown was right. Already out the door without making sure things were right. It's good to see such low star rating. His staff is good and Francisco was fabulous. Unless you have a lot of out of pocket money to spend, don't go to Buzza. Dr Buzza and his team are a well-oiled machine. They consistently accommodate my schedule, deal quickly with my dental emergencies, and handle my concerns extremely patiently. I ask a lot of questions and worry over my dental choices an inordinate amount. They are always kind and patient with me. When I had a temporary dental appliance that was giving me trouble (no fault of theirs), I went to the office a few times and at no charge Karen adjusted the fit, sometimes during her lunch break. Truthfully, over the years I have been to the office numerous times with varying minor issues and they have worked with me -- at no charge when it was concerning work Dr. Buzza had previously done. I recently went to a dentist in NY and he was extremely complimentary of Dr. Buzza's work. Though I live part-time in NY, I will continue to trust my teeth to Dr Buzza and his team. I went in for a cleaning and the staff was unwelcoming. The Dr. had no bed side manner. not friendly at all my son in law need work and didn't ask me about this place went and had some work done and never finished it cause he was uncomfortable and the staff was rude. Laurie in billing is an absolute bitch and rude and harasses people through text. I don't recommend this practice at all they are money hungry and the patient is not any of their concern. they are just trying to rip people off. I have never felt so uneasy at a dentist office. everyone was really nice at first, I got my x-rays and everything went smoothly. However, when I went in for my teeth cleaning, it was the most painful cleaning i've ever had. It felt like she was pulling at my teeth with the tool she had and scraping my gums over and over again and at one point I almost had to tell her that I wasn't going to be able to finish the cleaning because of the pain. I am super surprised to see such poor reviews for Doctor Buzza and his office. I absolutely love this place! I was recommended there by one of the former front desk gals and keep going back! My hygienist is super sweet and gentle. Buzza has always been very personable and nice to me. Anytime they suggest I need some sort of extra work done I have never felt pressured in to having to do it right then and there. They have always allowed me to talk to the girls up front to go over what my insurance would cover and how much would be out of pocket. I do not have the greatest dental insurance currently but it has always covered most of my expenses. I mainly love how they have used a lot of modern equipment. No more awkward things in your mouth for long periods of time, instant xray photos, a cool little sensitivity checker and so much more. Everything is always fast and efficient. Dr Buzza and his staff are awesome. They field my questions and concerns with much patience, even explaining things more than once when necessary. The fact that Dr Buzza can perform many services in house (for example, root canals) has saved me time as well as money over the many decades I have been a patient there. I don't understand why they only have a few stars. I love these guys. I have EXTREME dental phobia & they totally accommodate me. They are kind, caring and understanding. I love my hygienist, Rene' and that's who I see the most. When I have a procedure I have to do the sleep dentistry and it's the best way for me to be able to do dental work. They aren't cheap, I'll give you that. But I understand the extra efforts it takes for the monitoring of the sleep dentistry. There are so many dentists and I'm sure many are just fine. I've been to more than several dentists and all were FINE, like 4 stars. But this office has been best experience. I'm not sure why some people badmouthing, perhaps they are just jealous about the office being voted so well by locals over several yrs. Terrible dont go here!!!! They are only out to take all of your insurance money and then bill you ahead of time for dental work they haven't finished, I had a crown started and my insurance only paid for partial, so when I came back for my next appointment lady at front desk said to complete my crown and get the finished job done I would first have to pay my balance of 675$ in full before they finished the crown they had started. 3 month old crown and now it has an abscess. The fillings he did are so sensitive I can't eat on that side. Despite having the hygienist stab me in the arm with the needle that she kept on her lap, and the fact that the doctor left a patient alone while under anesthesia ,I decided to give Dr. Buzza another try. When I called to make the appointment, they did not disclose that they do not follow the mask mandate required for health care settings. The staff does NOT wear a mask. When I entered the building I was shocked . They told me that there is no more mask mandate and they are not the mask police. They are wrong. Masks are still required in all healthcare settings. I went to John Buzza after my wife strongly suggested I give him a shot. My first appointment was set and I arrived 15 minutes early like I do for all my appointments. I was seated in their waiting room for 30 minutes before being called for an X-Ray. Afterward, I was asked to retreat back to the waiting room before having my teeth cleaned. I waited in the waiting room for oven an hour!! Once I finally met Dr. John Buzza, he was an extremely nice person with a great sense of humor. He really seemed to take interest in his patient's lives and you could tell he enjoys the interaction he gets with his patient's. My second appointment followed suit where I sat in the waiting room for 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment to have some dental work done (Cavity and a Crown). For several days following the appointment I was in considerable pain. Some dental pain is normal and is to be expected. However, my dental pain was substantial and I was forced to self medicate and continued to do so until my wife scheduled an emergency appointment to have the issue addressed. My emergency appointment was scheduled for 11:30am and I arrived 15 minutes early. I was asked to have a seat and I would be next to be seen. With my month in considerable pain, I sat there and watched two patient's get called back before me and before I knew it 45 minutes had passed before I shot the receptionist a concerned look. She repeated her earlier statement and said I was next to be seen and offered me something to eat or drink. I declined since I was in so much pain there is no way I could consume anything, and after another 15 minutes of waiting, I decided to leave. 20 minutes later the receptionist called my cell phone and said they were now ready for me. I told her to cancel my remaining appointments because I would be going back to old dentist. The manager got on the phone to apologize and said, "Well now that we know your time is valuable, and we have a heighten awareness, I can assure you this will not happen again." I politely told the manager there was no point to scheduling an appointment if there was no effort make to honor the appointment. read more

But I feel because I'm a stroke survivor I was taken advantage by my dentist back years ago John Buzza and here is my story. My name is Aaron Avila at age 47 (5 years ago) I survived a major brain Aneurysm and 2 weeks later a major stroke. As fast as lightning strikes (stroke) My family went from 6 figure income to surviving for just under $19,000.00 a year. How has my family family survived? My wife of 25 years is absolutely amazing! So I think around 3 years ago I had a tooth go abscess. Having so little funds and in terrible pain I was forced to do something I never have to do. I wrote my story on Facebook and asked my Facebook friends for financial help. Long story short an anonymous donor stepped up and donated over $12,000.00 so I could get much needed Dentures. Now mind you this was no small amount of money and would let me live out my circle of life on this planet not having expensive dental issues I nor my could afford. Unfortunately motivated by money (my opinion) my Dentist at the time John Buzza strongly pushed for Partials in the front instead! When my wife objected John Buzza said that I'm his patient and I will decide. Now being a stroke survivor with limited cognitive function of course John Buzza was able to convince me Partials were the way to go against the better judgment of my wife. I did explain to John that my stroke had wiped out my fine motor skills and flossing wasn't possible. John insisted Partials was the best way to go and would use up all my donors money. Well it's been years later and of had 1 abscess and 2 teeth shatter at the gum line (because teeth were still left in my head) thank God my Mom and Dad had the money to pay to get the one abscess removed by an Oral Surgeon for near $400.00. Leaving me with the teeth broken at the gum line. Am I out of line thinking John Buzza should refund my donors money so I can get much needed dentures? You tell me? In all my 78 years I have never had a dentist as awful as Dr. Buzza. He has treated me in a disrespectful, insulting and nonresponsive manner. He has done a partial bridge for me and I had numerous problems afterward; he completely ignored me; refusing to have even a single conversation about the issues I raised, one gets the impression that Dr. Buzza considers his time too valuable to bother speaking with patients. The concerns were serious enough to cause me a lot of emotional and physical distress. He does not seem to give a damn about me or possibly any of his patients, only the money. He overcharges, in my opinion, and then, once the bill is paid he vanishes and does not follow up or respond to concerns. I consider him barely competent and utterly non-communicative. He deserves a kick in the butt plus a good deal more. He should not be practicing dentistry. I first went to Dr. Buzza in 2008. I had a tremendous fear of dentists because of trauma and some unfortunate dental experiences. I had gotten to the point I was neglecting my teeth. Sedation dentistry and Dr. Buzza and staff has made it possible for me to care for my teeth. He is very skilled (once correcting a problem that nether Kaiser not a periodontist could figure out), ethical in giving me options to fit my finances and generous of spirit. His staff is friendly and supportive. Karen M. has been my hygienist for all 12 years and it is to her credit that I came to feel at ease with her. It is true Dr. Buzza has a busy practice but I have been able to get in when I needed. I cannot attest for any other dentist in the office as I have not worked with any, but Dr. Buzza is excellent. read more

Make no mistake--this dental office is all about the money. I went to Buzza's practice for years, and as he kept attending more seminars on how to make a killing, his prices went up and up. When you were presented with your fee for the day was $XXX or $X,XXX, the explanation was "your insurance isn't very good." I have the best dental insurance there is. The hygienist will ask you to wait after your cleaning for "a consult" with the doctor. The last one I had lasted 2 minutes, 30 seconds--the first two minutes were spent talking about topics utterly unrelated to my teeth--it added $90 to my bill. That's $180/minute or equivalent to $10,800/hour, more than even the most expensive New York lawyer. The quality of some of his work is good, or better; but he left "hooks" on a couple of fillings that interfered with flossing and ultimately failed. I had two implants--both have failed. I wouldn't go back to him for anything. He is charming and has some nice, and talented, staff. read more

As far as appearances go, this is a super nice practice, staff is extremely nice, and they have all state of the art equipment from what I could tell. As far as the quality of work I had done, I am not impressed at all. I went in for a cleaning and to have a tiny chip in one of my fillings repaired, I left being told I needed $3500 in dental work done immediately. They insisted I needed most of my silver fillings drilled out and replaced with ceramic fillings. I trusted that they knew what they were doing so I agreed to have the work done, better safe than sorry. Throughout all of my procedures (several hours of drilling and filling) Dr.P and the dental assistant were gossiping, giggling, chit-chatting, and just seemed like they weren't paying any attention to my mouth. There wasn't one breath that wasn't spent on conversation between the two of them, I personally would have liked to see a little more focus on my teeth. If my new fillings had come out ok, then I would have no problem with this, I feel like it's pretty common at most practices. But my fillings came out horrible, I needed several adjustments afterwards, and now, 4 months later, I still have bad sensitivity in most of my new fillings, this has overall decreased my quality of life. I wish I had never had the new fillings put in, I had zero issues with pain or sensitivity before going here. And now it causes me grief and frustration nearly everyday. I wish I had never gone here, or at least got a second opinion before being coaxed into spending over $3000, I feel hustled and ripped off. I'm sure overall, this is a decent practice, but all I'm saying is GET A SECOND OPINION, "don't trust your mechanic" as they say, and definitely don't trust your dentist! Thanks to Dr. Piccolotti I now have a "dead tooth" something I didn't have before, and when I confronted her about all of my post procedure sensitivity, she urged that I come back in for a root canal, are you joking me? At this point, I knew I had been hustled. I'm someone who will always give you the benefit of the doubt, and am generally ok with being taking advantage in most cases. I've been debating writing this review for 4 months now, going back and forth in my head because I don't like to talk negatively towards anyone (No one's perfect, people make mistakes). But I feel like I need to share this story so no one else ends up taken advantage of like me. (P.S. After my visit with my normal hygienist and a quick visit from Buzza, I was ushered into a room where I was informed that my teeth were on the verge of decay. I was shown a minor imperfection on my front tooth that had been there since my braces were removed 10 years prior. I was told that the previous work that Buzza himself had done needed to replaced. They showed me an estimate for thousand of dollars and asked me how I would like to finance it. I was shocked, as my smile was healthy and beautiful. There was absolutely nothing wrong with my teeth. I got a second opinion and another thorough exam. The next dentist found nothing wrong, except one area that he said "We should keep an eye on". 2 years later he needed to resurface 1 filling. That was 7 years ago and I still have not required any work. I get X-rays and cleaning every 6 months. My teeth are perfectly healthy. SCAM averted. read more

I love coming to this office. John Buzza is a wonderful dentist and so very knowledgeable about everything TEETH! This dentist office has such a nice and caring staff. They always greet you with a smile and a welcome! I have had such a fear of the dentist since I was little and they have helpped me over come this fear by being very informative. I called this office to get a consultation regarding some restoration work. I inquired about a discount as I would be a cash/credit patient (no insurance). Most, if not all, dentists will honor this request and they even told me that they do in fact negotiate prices. NOT Dr. Buzza. In fact, not only would he not offer even a customary 5% discount, he also suggested the most expensive option for some additional cosmetic work, even though I explicitly explained that I was only interested in the less expensive option due to finances. Nothing but arrogance from he and his staff (and it's a big staff). I'm sure if you want a million watt smile, Dr. Buzza can give you that, but be prepared to spend a MILLION dollars to get. Because of this I was forced to find another dentist. When I did he ran my insurance and we found that they charged my insurance for a cleaning which they never did. Thats not right in any book. Dr Buzza seems like a carrying and concerned medical professional when you first meet him, but don't let that 1st interaction fool you. If you have any type of anxieties like myself (do to previous dental experiences) "HE" is "NOT" the dentist for you! I recently had sedation dentistry done, and in the midst of my treatment, before I was put totally under I had to pull out the rubber dental spacer so I could swallow. Oh boy you would have thought the world just came to an end, Dr Buzza started cussing dropping the F bomb and all because I cut into his time. I was the pt and all I could do was think about the other pts & staff in his office. I was absolutely mortified. I am an adult and am paying for this asshole to treat me like this. No thank you. I took advantage of the $106 special for x-rays, exam and cleaning, since my regular dentist has been out on medical leave. So I hadn't had a cleaning in almost 10 months and I do have some gum inflammation and some bone loss. When the hygienist (I can't remember her name) did her measurements, she seemed shocked that my gums looked that bad. She said I have considerable gum disease and bone loss, that my gums looked like those of a much older person and basically insinuated that my dentist hasn't been doing so great a job in the cleaning dept. She then recommended that I come back for two sessions of a deep cleaning and a follow-up at the tune of $1500. I went home feeling scared and nervous that my regular dentist had hygiene amnesia, and now my gums were in terrible shape, and only spending copious amounts of money could rectify this situation. I opted for a second opinion, because I had a sneaking suspicion my gums were really not that bad. I saw Dr. Wyatt on Montgomery Ave. in SR and loved her and her hygienist, both of whom said that my gums were nowhere nearly as terrible as had been described by Buzza's staff, and that my gums should be good to go with a cleaning that would cost about $250. So if you see Dr. Buzza and he quotes you a high amount on your dental work, shop around, because I bet you could get it cheaper elsewhere. read more
