WOW! Ok, here is what happened with my family. My wife was running late for an appointment, called and got into an argument with the secretary (that needs customer service skills). Then we received a email that they cancelled all of my family's appointments in the future. I called , apologized. And I was to get a call back in the afternoon by the mean secretary. No call. They just emailed my ex wife her records. I called to get my records and was told they would call the police. After contacting my attorney, this is illegal. And further action will be taken. This is a great dentist. The Dr herself is caring, and really cares about each and every patient. We as a family are sad we have to go look for another DR due to an mis understanding between the DRs staff and I. I really wish I could speak to the DR personally? My suggestion is to keep your thoughts and feelings away from this staff. You do not want to lose the best DR in Sonoma county. Like my family did. read more

Kelly and her staff are the best! Everyone in that office cares about you; your comfort is foremost for those working on your teeth. I used to be extremely afraid of dentists but now I 'almost' look forward to a visit. Kelly is so down to earth and treats you like a good friend. She is never rushed and takes time to examine, evaluate, and share her dental plan. Kelly has state-of-the-art equipment to ensure that her patients get the best care. I am especially fond of Mary Kay, one of the hygienists, although all of them are wonderful at what they do! The front office staff is friendly and good at their jobs. I had a great first visit, with an experienced and caring dental hygienist, who said I was taking very good care of my teeth. After arriving for my second visit, I was told that the hygienist who I saw on my first visit, and was scheduled to see again, was no longer working at the office, and that I would be seeing "X" instead. I waited for close to 30 minutes beyond the scheduled time for my appointment to begin. The new hygienist had a very different opinion about the health of my teeth and gums, and recommended a series of appointments for deep cleaning and scaling below the gumline. Dr. Elward came into the room for a short time at the end of the cleaning. She didn't look into my mouth or at my teeth at all during the visit, and instead accepted the hygienist's assessment without any examination of her own to confirm what the hygienist was saying (which was pretty much the opposite of what I was told after my first visit and exam). I asked whether my insurance would cover the treatment that they were proposing, and how much it would cost. I was told the office would get back to me with that information. It's been over a month now, and there hasn't been any follow-up. In addition, unlike many of the other reviewers, I find Dr. Elward's communication style to be less than ideal. She is friendly and agreeable, which are nice qualities in a person, but you also want a professional who presents clear information and options, and I find that a little difficult to get from Dr. Elward. I guess, unfortunately, it's time to keep looking! read more

Integrity- Kind- Informative- did I mention INTEGRITY? This is the dental office you have been looking for. I had been to 2 dentists before this and both tried to upsell me for thousands of dollars. A friend told me about this practice -she drives an hour to see Dr. Elward--thats how good she is- and now I understand. I was treated with care, respect and dignity. Having a horrible morning, tragedy in the family. I printed out PT information, filled it out, copied all insurance info. I was early with all the paper work requested. Front desk informed me I missed the 2pm appointment, I apologized; front desk cancelled my son's 3pm appointment. My son was present for the 3pm but was informed that it is cancelled. I shared that I have all the paper work to proceed with the 3pm; the front desk person accused me of not having proper paper work. I tried to show her but she didn't want to view the patient info; therefore my son's appointment remained cancelled; he could not be seen. I asked if I could reschedule. The front desk receptionist was snarky and she said if you want. I followed with, can we? She responded, I think you should go somewhere else. Losing a loved one, just trying to breath thinking you are in a safe place looking for a smile. The front desk did not give us any respect or grace, which does not reflect Dr. Kelly's mission statement, trying not to break down in front of my son. We left quietly with silence all they way home. Our family practices in the medical field MD, RN, DDS. To treat another human being with such loathing is unspeakable. Always lead with grace. read more

This is a follow-up to a previous review. A 25-year-old gold crown fell out last Thursday night (ironically while I was flossing!). I left a message for the office that evening, and promptly received a call in the morning (this was NOT an emergency). Harriet scheduled me for the following Monday, and I made a mistake and accepted the appointment. Later, realizing I was going to be out-of-town, I called back. Harriet was able to schedule me for the following day (Tuesday - today, as I write this). I truly appreciated her help and patience. I waited no longer than a minute after my arrival before I was taken into the office and seated. Dr. Elward was able to clean the area and place the old crown with no problem. The entire process took no more than ten minutes. All of the staff are consistently pleasant and fun. Dr. Elward is kind, fast, efficient, and highly competent. I broke my front tooth when I was eleven. Back in the 70s the dentist would just wittle your tooth to a nub and put a crown on it rather than bond composite as they do today. So after 40 years of having ugly unmatched front teeth, I went to Dr Kelly Elward. Her office was very pleasant and her staff was friendly and accommodating. Today i finally have beautiful front teeth! It made me want to cry. Not only was the staff and office friendly, Dr Kelly was amazing. She was so light handed and her design of my front teeth was incredible. They look so natural. She is truly talented and I am so grateful for her. I went to Dr. Elward based on a recommendation from a friend. I wanted a second opinion because I was not comfortable with the dentist I was initially referred to. Dr. Elward's office is friendly, clean, and well-organized. The previous dentist said I had a cracked tooth and needed a crown, whereas, after a much more thorough exam, she said it was a superficial crack and the tooth only required that the filling be replaced. Plus she found another filling that had fallen out. She is a very cheerful person who is sensitive to anything that might be painful. The whole experience was basically pain-free. I was even commended for flossing, which was new (but yes I am). I no longer have dental insurance, but found her fees reasonable and the scheduling efficient. Highly recommend. read more

I switched to Dr. Elward a few years ago after a bad experience at my previous dentist. Dr. Elward and her staff are wonderful. I'm a bit of a dental wimp, and they have always held my hand (sometimes literally) and never made me feel like I was being a wimp. My hygenist is Melissa and she has not only taken care of my teeth, but also my parents' teeth. She's not just great at her job, but also distracts you from the cleaning with entertaining stories from her life. The office itself is very nicely decorate and spotless. My husband and I have been going to Dr. Elward for about five years now. The one thing I love about the office is that they always greet you when you walk in and they always remember a little something about you. I don't know how they do it. Maybe they write it down on a little cheat sheet, who knows? But they always ask something like how was your vacation you did in XYZ, how is John's retirement going, things like that. It is really a very nice touch. They are always on time with everything and I have never been left waiting. Which, by the way if you did have to wait there is always coffee and tea there for you if you needed a little something. One time I had an appointment and it was for a filling. But I didn't remember that that was the reason I was there. So I said oh man, I gotta get a filling? And the dentist apologized that I didn't know why I was there. Totally not her fault at all and it was so nice for her to be so kind. I always go to Melissa for my cleanings. She can even understand what your saying when your mouth is wide pen and her hands are in there!! Just kidding but I bet she would be good at that game Speak Out! Dr. Elward and all of her staff are amazing! I have avoided the dentist for an embarrassing amount of time because it was always a nightmare. They made it so easy! Kelly has been my dentist for more than 15 years. She and her staff have taken such good care of me. I especially recall those early years when I needed a lot of dental work post-stroke. I had a serious head and neck tremor, so much so, she had one of her assistants hold my head still so she could work. A few years later she replaced my front tooth after the previous implant from another dentist sheared off at the gum line. She went over and beyond to make sure the new tooth matched perfectly. Between her and hygienist Shirley (who I also highly recommend) the health of my teeth and gums has steadily improved. Her entire staff is courteous and helpful. Dr. Kelly Elward is the most phenomenal, caring, compassionate dentist I have ever had. She cares so much for you, not to be in pain. She is very apologetic, if she thinks she is hurting you. I've been terrified of the dentist for years, and so when I turned 18, I stopped going because I was so afraid of being talked down to and made fun of again. I've been so self-conscious about my teeth because of that, and I had nightmares about losing them because I was too afraid of going back to get insulted again. I'm 24 now, and went to Dr. Elward after my friend suggested her when I asked for recommendations on facebook. Dr. Elward and her staff were nothing like my old dentist. They were so kind, they explained everything really well, and they treated me like a human being. Not only that, but they even said nice things about my teeth, whereas my old dentist said mean things about them. Dr. Kelly Elward is, in my eyes, the best dentist I have ever had. I used to have anxiety and couldn't even sit in the chair for a cleaning. After having a bad experience with another dentist, I stopped going to the dentist. Just the thought would make me have anxiety and panic attacks. Dr. Elward and her team used their magic to get me in the office and comfortable and now I am excited to go in for my cleanings. So thankful to have found her. I'm terrified of seeing the dentist however after meeting Kelly and her staff 4 years ago for the most part that has gone away.
