The cocktails are all on draft. Some come with toys, beads, and even lights. The Shark Attack has a shark filled with a shot of grenadine that you can pour into the blue concoction. Super fun. They also offer beer. A few craft but mostly domestics. The prices are also very good. $5 a cocktail. Def check them out if you're in LFK.

The drink ingredients were premixed in unlabeled bottles so you didn't even know for sure what the bartender was pouring. Both drinks were watered down and you couldn't taste any alcohol. They tasted like watered down juice. We also couldn't identify any specific flavor such as pear or cranberry. They were flat and unfortunately not tasty. We loved the ambiance. It's a cute place, but we wouldn't order cocktails again.

That is now available next door at the connected Jade Bar restaurant. Jade Bar not only provides full service, but also has a full bar, including Woodbridge wines by the bottle or glass. The table service is excellent and very helpful. They have two menus: the regular menu and the authentic Chinese menu. Since the server is so helpful with selections, it is best to request both menus. We ordered the clam soup, which is available only on the authentic menu. We expected soup containing canned clams. We were pleased to receive a large bowl of soup, enough for two or more to share, containing fresh clams in the shells. The menus are the same as in Jade Garden, but the choices are made much easier by the table service. In addition, you do not pay until you are done, while in Jade Garden, you are expected to pay when you order at the counter. For dinner, the atmosphere in the Jade Bar is much better than in Jade Garden. Jade Bar also contains separate rooms for Karaoke, if you are into that. We are not, but we looked into one of those rooms. It was very nicely equipped and comfortable with large couches.

I came in with a couple of friends on a Wednesday night. It wasn't overly busy, but service was slow from the beginning. We waited nearly 15 minutes before someone even acknowledged us, and when we finally got drinks, two of the three were made incorrectly. No big deal -- we politely asked if they could be remade. The bartender (who we later found out was the owner) acted like we were personally insulting him by mentioning it. He rolled his eyes, muttered something under his breath, and walked away without saying anything. Five minutes later, he came back and slammed the corrected drinks down without a word. We were still trying to brush it off and enjoy the night, but it got worse. At one point, another group came in and was clearly friends with the owner -- suddenly they were getting all the attention, even being allowed to play their own music over the speakers. The vibe of the whole bar changed, and we felt totally pushed out. When I asked if it was possible to put in a song request like they did, the owner told me (verbatim): "This isn't a jukebox, sweetheart. Maybe try Applebee's." We left shortly after. I've never been treated so condescendingly by someone running a business. The owner seemed more interested in showing off for his friends than running a bar. No atmosphere, rude service, and a complete lack of professionalism. If you want to pay premium prices to be ignored and disrespected, this is the place for you. Otherwise, I'd recommend literally any other bar in Lawrence.

We tried several drinks between the four of us; favorites were the margarita & horsefeather. I've been exploring the burgeoning world of NA cocktails, and what continues to amaze me is the dedication to not just 'replace the alcohol' with sugar or something blasé. Instead, the challenge seems to be to raise the (pardon the pun) bar with complex flavor pairings that entertain the drinker without the 'easy A' of adding alcohol. Out favorite drinks were easily the ones mixed by the bartender, not the canned variety. So even if you're only sober-curious (or doing a sober buddy a favor), NR is entirely worth your time.
