The sashimi was fantastic, and both rolls were delicious. I love the Serrano Peppers that both of the rolls had, and I loved the cilantro on the Chili Ponzu. The Phad Thai with chicken was so good. Next time I'll add a little hot sauce to spice it up. I do like how they put a water carafe on each table. I will definitely be back soon!

While we didn't have to wait for a table, almost all of them were full when we arrived. Ika is a smaller space in a strip mall off of 119 in Leewood, so there's not a ton of seating but the restaurant went further back than where we sat so there's probably more room than I could see. The kitchen/sushi bar is right up front when you walk in and takes up a good amount of room toward the front but it's aesthetically pleasing. The decor was very nice and everything was clean. They have a big chalk board near the front door, on the wall with their specials. They have quite a few. The menu is very large and our server came over about 5 minutes after we were seated. We ordered some edamame but asked for some more time to look at the menu. When the edamame came out, we placed our order. We decided to both get a side salad with ginger dressing and share two of their special rolls. We got one of the specials off the board, the Hidden Dragon. It was really good and by far my favorite out of the 2 rolls we got. My friend also really liked this roll and thought it was the better of the two. The other roll we got was the Rainbow which is a California roll topped with various types of fish. Neither of us are big fans of salmon so we asked for it to be left off. I didn't really like this roll. I normally love tuna but I prefer it cut a bit thinner and I'm used to it almost having a butter texture where it melts in your mouth. I'm not sure what was going on but all of the tuna had a very strong flavor and yes, I'll say it was fishy. I realize some people like that but I don't. Maybe it was the Hamachi (yellowtail) but it was not for me. I tried 2 pieces and that was enough. My friend liked it better than me but definitely preferred the Hidden Dragon too. I would probably give them a 3.5 if that was an option because the Hidden Dragon roll was very good. The service was efficient and quick. Not overly friendly. They never even acknowledged my friend's bday even though she was opening gifts and we sat a small birthday pop up paper cake card on the table. Not that we expected anything but maybe just a comment about her birthday. Maybe they were too rushed for anything extra. My disappointment in the tuna on the Rainbow roll is my reason for the lower rating. The rolls are $18 each so getting one I really couldn't eat is unfortunate. They also use the crab salad and not just a piece of crab in their rolls. I prefer the latter because I'm not too fond of all the extra mayo from the crab salad. I missed taking pics of our rolls! The Hidden Dragon looked fantastic and the Rainbow looked better than it tasted, lol. My friend still enjoyed her afternoon birthday lunch! I would possibly try them again to explore something else on the menu since there were so many options but I won't go out of my way to return.

It s in a cool old building, there's a vault door that leads to the kitchen, and a large skylight over the bar and dining area with hanging plants. The Korean fried chicken is so good, I loved the dry rubbed ones the best, might actually be on the list of best fried chicken I have had. The Crab Rangoon was absolutely fantastic as well. I had Spicy BBQ Pork & Rice Cakes for my entree and asked for it to be extra spicy, a menu option, but found it rather bland, it lacked any of big bold character that I usually associate with Korean, however my experience with Korean food is rather limited especially compared to other Asian cuisines so I'll be reserving judgement on that dish. Overall great place to be, the service was top notch, and those Crab Rangoon and KFC wings were amongst the finest examples I have had of those items. This is on my list of restaurants to drag my wife to.

Better than expected!…read more There was only 1 server working that day, but service was still relatively fast. We came in for lunch and ordered the bibimbop with spicy pork, hot tea, and spicy tofu soup. The bibimbop with spicy pork was flavorful and hearty. The spicy tofu soup came hot, was filling and came with a side of rice. The hot tea was comforting and soothing on the stomach, but scalding when first served. Nice interior with a skylight and greenery. There was an older movie playing on the side that was entertaining. Prices are on the higher end for the dishes offered, but with the small Asian population in the area it's understandable and the flavors were good. Would recommmend.

The vibe was fun and inviting, and it looks like they've carried over the magic from their super popular Christmas pop-up into a fresh, spring-inspired theme. It adds a really playful, seasonal touch without feeling overdone. What really made the visit stand out, though, was the service. Our waitress was fantastic--super friendly, attentive without hovering, and offered great suggestions that we actually ended up loving. Tip: Get a basket of French fries for the table! Overall, it's one of those spots that works for just about anything--family outings, catching a game, bigger group gatherings, or even a more low-key, intimate meal. Great atmosphere, great service, and a place we'll definitely be back to.

I am obsessed with the ambiance of the place - especially during Christmas time! It is just so fun and I look forward to eating there any time we have guests in town. Another plus is that the wait staff is so friendly and always make you feel welcomed, and they give great food suggestions! Some of my favorite food items include: the Bill Self Mac, ANY of the pizzas, Cobb Salad, Meatball Grinder, and Patty Melt. OOOOOH and if you are in the mood for an appetizer they have one of the best artichoke dips in Lawrence, hands down!! My fiance and I went there for a family celebration after our engagement and they treated us with a delicious chocolate cake! This really sealed the deal on being one of my favorite places in Lawrence!
