It's like Disneyland but even better. If I could sleep there I would. This place is so awesome I may never graduate. Great atmosphere, there's this one dude who is always shirtless in the Tini and the chicks love him. If you're in town you have to check out the jayhawk cafe. read more

If you are looking this place up on Yelp to see what it's like at the Hawk, this place is already not for you. It is dirty, sticky, crowded, loud, and gross. Once you turn 21 you're already too old for this bar and you've already put too much thought into your plans to go here. Every college town has to have one of these. Some graduates may look back and remember some fond memories they have at the Hawk. All stories which usually end badly (police involvement, terrible hangovers, fights, that one terrible one night stand... you get the picture). The bar has several rooms and as the night goes on and the rooms fill up, more rooms open. Absolutely nothing special about the drinks. This place is not for enjoying the drinks or nice ambiance. This place is about getting as many kids as drunk as possible as fast as possible. If that's what you're looking for then this is the place for you. There are much nicer bars just around the corner. If you have put in enough effort to read this entire review, you should go to any other bar just around the corner. read more

Great place to go, if you trying to catch a case. Bouncers don't Card, and the manager, Sam Amrein, doesn't care. It's honestly an underage college student's dream. Don't even have to ask your RA to buy you alcohol, you can walk right in without being ID'd, and buy your own liquor! My type of establishment! S https://www.freealbertwilson.com/ read more

Met a door guy named Riley and he was so caring and hot. Took my ID and scanned it like no one else has ever, once returning the ID I was greeted with the warmest smile I have ever seen. When I return again the next night to down some cold brews and dollar jayhawk shots, I hope Riley is checking my ID again because I can not get enough of this beautiful human being! Ps: ask for the cheesecake at the main bar, best chocolate cheesecake I have indulged in! #hawkcafecheesecake read more

Been going to this bar since my freshman year at KU. Kinda expensive, but you are there for the environment. There are 4 different rooms in this establishment, the best being the Boom Boom room. I wouldn't go here sober, would actually recommend pre-gaming pretty hard. On Friday afternoons they have free beer Friday, which is a kill the keg instance which is an amazing time, with free hamburgers and chips provided by the Hawk. 5/5. read more

The worst bar in Lawrence. The bouncers are the worst nastiest people I've ever met. Avoid at all costs. Not worth the money or time. So many better options. Would give 0 stars if I could. read more

My first time ever in Kansas and the first American bar I have ever been to. I don't think they even asked for my I.D. We went in on a Wednesday and there was a cover for dollar night. Its a very loud college bar. The line was ok and once we got in it was straight to business... I remember walking in but I do not remember walking out. I hope I had a good time... read more

my friend was completely legally underage and they denied her after being a loyal customer for three years now. heartbreaking to say the least read more

Wednesday night is Hawk night at KU, and all the underage college kids come out to play. The Hawk attracts KU's best and brightest freshman female talent; and that fact paired with $1 drinks for almost anything (Jack D's included) makes this place a winner in my book. They also have different music/themes in every room; so it's hard not to find something you like. Maximum Age: 21 read more

This place is a hidden gem that should not be missed! It is the ultimate comfort food destination. Hearty, made-from-scratch meals that never disappoint. read more

Wow what an experience I had at the Jayhawk Cafe. Thought this was an ordinary cafe in which coffee and food was served but boy was I wrong. I walked into the Jayhawk Cafe to the booming noise of 21 Savage blasting in my ear and a plethora of 19 year olds in Vineyard Vines shirts and girls in leopard dresses. I figured, fuck it, I'll stay and get a few drinks. I made my way down to the "Boom Boom Room" and my night quickly picked up. I met a fratter named Jacob who offered me some of the best cocaine I've ever snorted in my life, and met a beautiful girl named Natasha who danced on me until I came in my pants. LITERALLY. Place is dope. I highly recommend if you're looking for a dirty college bar with lots of fuckery going on. 5/5 will probably be back in the boom tonight! read more

The jayhawk cafe is the most memorable experience I have had anywhere in my life. The people who work at the Jayhawk Cafe are the nicest I have ever met and clearly love their job, they really do want the customers to have a good time. The atmosphere is spectacular with such nice happy people and a beautiful decor around the whole building. Thanks for the great experience, I can't wait to be back! read more

This is the real boom boom room. Always had a great time, if your looking for a quiet place this isnt it. Chris read more

If you are from out of town watching your favorite football team beat up on the Jayhawks, you may be tempted to make a trip to this bar located down the street from Memorial Stadium. Heed this local Lawrence man's warning; this place is a total piece of crap. Every square inch of this bar is sticky from spilled drinks and vomit. Expect to wait in very long lines for watered down drinks. You might even catch a glimpse of people having sex in the "boom boom" room downstairs, like what happens every Halloween. You won't be able to move around very freely as it is always overpacked with drunk freshman. Which brings me to my next point: "The hawk" is a notorious underage bar. You will be surrounded by dumb little kids who have no idea how to drink like normal people. They are all amateurs and they all all very annoying. It makes me shudder to think of how many out of town fans were exposed to this place, and the impression it put on them. Here in Lawrence we have a saying: "once you turn 21, you are too old to go to the hawk." read more

It's the place to go as a freshman, then again for the memories senior year. It's fun for a cheap drink for sure! Sticky floors and raunchy people though. read more

Madelyn is an execellent bartender. Very attentive and very courteous. Didn't have to wait very long for drinks. Madelyn is the best !!!

The Jayhawk Cafe (aka The Hawk) is a Lawrence staple. Part of the famed "Bull-Hawk-Wheel" triangle bars, the Hawk is a must for any young Jayhawker. Yes, the crowd tends to be on the younger side but the Hawk's many rooms provide for very different experiences. Upstairs, the patio, the Martini Room and the notorious Boom-Boom Room all have their own feels and flavors. Hard to beat Dollar Night (Wed) for student-friendly drink prices. It's hard to not have a good time at the Hawk, and I'll leave it to your imaginations to figure out what goes on in the Boom-Boom Room! read more

A lot of eye candy, you won't be having an intelligent conversation all night but chances are if you are going here on a Wednesday night that's the last thing on your mind lol, worth checking out if you are between the ages of 12-23. Hands down though the hottest college girls in Lawrence will be here and at any other close Greek hangout. read more

It's a KU classic. Dollar nights on Wednesdays are great but it is a younger scene. A great place to bring visitors.

The Hawk is a gameday tradition. This bar is always a staple when making a return to Lawrence. They offer dollar night on Wednesdays which for broke college kids is always good. The place is huge with 5 different bars. If you are a college student and don't mind frat guys roaming around this is a place worth going. If you have already graduated then you know when you come back for gamedays the hawk is one stop you have to make. read more

Read my check in. Couldnt have said it better. Dollar drinks on wednesdays, but forever sticky floors. You gotta go at least once, or you will have missed out on one of the greatest experiences known to undergraduate (and underage) Jayhawks read more

I'll put it this way, I will never come into contact with another bar as good as the hawk. First off, the service was better than terrific. I have never seen a more hardworking staff. Next, The drinks there were so tasty that I was in complete disbelief in how good they actually were. And last, the DJ's were playing the best playlists I have ever heard. Anyways..... great people. great drinks. great environment. Jayhawk Cafe. read more
