You're gonna feel some pressure to sign the day of consult. You been warned. Keep shopping the 200$ savings isn't a deal breaker to stay. Is Scheduling easy- Not exactly Are they open Friday- No Open weekend -No Is there more than one location- yes. But not open daily.- this is where I'm upset! We are in our first year of treatment. And we have always had to commute 40 minutes or more when we were living on the mountain. The office does get bent out of shape if you are late. We chose NCO in anticipation of their Scott's Valley office opening. 20 mins from home! Great ...Well That took longer than expected. So yeah, I felt misleaded. Then to find out they don't operate the SV location M-F Because they aren't not open on Friday at either location. We have now moved a little farther away and To make an appointment we are looking at weeks for SV openings that work around school and work schedule. Or now w traffic. Deal w 2 hr round trip commute to Capitola. It's great to see the practice growing, but it's apparent they BIT off more than they can CHEW if they can't operate both facilities. My other complaint is I've never met the Orthodontist working on my child. (My Experiance working w interventional doctors for over a decade. They don't come out to talk because they are on the next patient $$$) They never came out to meet/great me. Not Once! After reading some of his reviews and he seems brash- I hope not- Just do your job correctly! So far my kiddo's smile is looking better. So I have extremely mixed feeling about this business.

I decided to get braces as part of a longer treatment plan to properly align my teeth in preparation for future dental work. At first, everything seemed fine. I did break one bracket during treatment and paid for it without any issue. The main problem started after my braces were removed. I was given a removable retainer (the bulky, mouth-guard-style type). While the doctor was testing it in the office, I immediately mentioned that I was feeling an uncomfortable, almost shocking sensation. The upper retainer collected a large amount of saliva and created a strong choking feeling. It pressed in a way that made swallowing difficult, with saliva pooling between the retainer and the roof of my mouth, making me feel like I could choke. I was told that I just needed to get used to it. At home, I tried wearing it again, but the choking sensation was so intense that I had to remove it immediately. I tried again the following day with the same result. I eventually stopped trying because I was genuinely afraid of choking. I contacted the office and was given an appointment about a week to ten days later. When I explained the situation to Dr. Amer, his response was simply that he had fitted it himself. I clarified that while the wire may have been adjusted, the issue was with the size and shape of the upper portion and how it fit my mouth. Instead of attempting to adjust or modify the existing retainer, I was told that switching to a clear retainer would cost $700. When I asked if the current retainer could be trimmed or adjusted to fit safely, I was told that would also cost $700. By that time, my teeth had already started shifting because I had been unable to wear the retainer due to safety concerns. Despite this, there was no effort made to address the shifting or to find a solution that would allow me to continue my treatment safely. Overall, I felt my concerns were dismissed and my treatment goals were overlooked. What began as a necessary step in my dental plan ultimately turned into a waste of time and money. I ultimately decided not to proceed with paying for a new retainer, even though a payment plan was offered, as I had already invested significantly in the treatment and did not feel it was reasonable to pay again to correct an issue that prevented me from wearing the original retainer.

So far so great:) The office staff were very friendly and, even though I'm a new patient, we're…read moreable to fit me in for a desperately needed cleaning this Saturday!

I also had to convince him to do the crown on my root canal, which was a good thing I did because their was decay behind the old one, but he was suggesting I not do one, even though that was what i was there for. They also have a front desk person Kim who thinks she is a dentist and tried to give you recommendations as if she has gone to dental school. She tried to tell me that I needed dental x-rays every year, but I had just had some from another provider she refused to contact them and said that they would not be valid. They took my daughters routine general x-rays and did not even capture the roots, but still charged us. This place is a joke.

The dentists are understandably nervous about doing any work on me, due to my epilepsy, particularly the one dentist who seems very efficient and nice but does not want to do any work without all releases from my doctor freshly signed and in place. It's a bit of a pain. I know I've shared my medical records with them before and I wish they'd be more efficient about it. The assistants are usually very kind to me. I was a little upset when I got there early but people who got there later were sent in on time and I kept...waiting and...waiting. I don't usually blame wait times on others staff, but there was almost no one there except me, and 2 other people. Then people kept arriving and were sent in before us. It's pretty common too. I always arrive early and this is common. I'm currently on hold and have been for about 40 min. The woman who answered was from the call centre, not the office. I've always had very sweet people from the call centre, but there is not much they can do, other than make your appointment. One time I remember I called and was on the phone on hold for ages, to be hung up on by the Santa Cruz office. I don't think there is actually anyone who answers the phones. It's more of a test in this case, because online says they close at 6pm, but the woman said they'd closed when I called around 3pm, and I know I've had appointments at or later than 3pm. But my advice is to not waste your time on your phone if at all possible. I just spent 2 hours on the phone just to be re-routed to the call-centre twice. As someone else said, no fluoride, cleaning, polishing, or work was done. Only pictures and nervous interrogation about my epilepsy, which I warned them about 6 years ago. I know I have several cavities, and it's because they haven't cleaned my teeth or filled them because they have done this each time I went. When the appointments I went made for filling, the office was actually closed. I waited, in case it was a lunch break. I waited outside for a long, long time. No dice. The appointment I made for the root canal at a referral office, the office was actually permanently closed. I also have called the office repeatedly, being directly referred to the main call centre. The main call centre never gave me the office's, "real," number, just being told, "the office is closed for the day." I wanted to check if my doctor and my dentist had linked up or not, and there is no way to find out, because my dentist is basically never, "open." So yes, my experiences have varied greatly. I have had fabulous dentists here, and dentists who do absolutely zilch and hygienists who are really great. It's a bit like gambling, and do you really want to do that with your mouth?? Not really. Those of us who use this office are here because of necessity. Hopefully this saves someone with better insurance some time.

The office dynamics will not change because the business manager is not doing their job to create a productive atmosphere. Appointment was on a Thursday at 10am PST. Paperwork completed online prior to appointment. Dental front desk requested to complete paperwork again in person and tried to blame us for not telling them that paperwork was completed online. Dental insurance not run before appointment even though 3 reps at front desk. Dental front desk didn't run insurance until 11am. Wait time over 2 hours. Was not called back to see provider until after 12noon. We were told at check in that appointment was for Xray and exam only. A second appointment would be required for cleaning and fluoride. This sounds like fraud and a quality issue to require two separate appointments for xray, exam, cleaning and fluoride. I questioned the front desk team over this two appointment requirement. They finally agreed to complete dental cleaning and fluoride then promoted elective procedure D2991 Curodont for $85 to an adult when procedure is for kids 7-12 years old. Highly disappointed with the dental service received and highly discourage others to come to this office. Then dental insurance not billed until 3 months later. Attempted to call office at least 4 times and calls go to call center only. Call center left messages and office never returned calls. Avoid at all costs!
