Had some time to kill in the mall and saw Satay in their menu so I had to get it. The satay has good seasoning and good caramelization and the peanut sauce was on point (could be a bit spicier but I think they have to adjust it for local taste). The food didn't take too long so I think the satay may have been pre-cooked. Wish it had a bit more fat (chicken skin) like the ones in Malaysia and Indonesia but this is definitely healthier (ignoring the sugar for now lol). Too bad I was already full so I couldn't try other dishes.

Came here for a quick dinner and was not disappointed. I ordered their laksa soup for $15. It comes with curry noodle soup, shrimp, fish cakes, tofu puffs, green beans, egg, bean sprouts, & curry chicken. Portion wise, it came with a fair amount of ingredients. As for customization, you have the choice of egg noodles, rice noodles, or half and half. I got the egg noodles. It was just the right amount of thickness for the laksa soup. The laksa temperature was really hot but not extremely tongue burning hot. Taste wise, it was pretty good but could have been better. All the seasonings and spices settled to the bottom of the soup so the curry soup wasn't as tasty as it should have been. The spiciness level of the laksa was basically zero. It would have liked it more with a little bit of spicy seasoning. As a bonus, any main dish comes with free drink until the end of February. I got the milk tea drink. It's a pretty standard tasting drink that you could get anywhere that sells milk teas. It was a nice refreshing drink to end of the meal. The young lady at the counter was friendly and said thanks for coming. She was happy to answer my questions about the menu. There was no queue so I was able to order right away. Wait time for the laksa soup was about 7 minutes. 4 out of 5 stars based on this visit. It's worth a try for sure!

Very transit friendly and plenty of free parking available - as it's located inside Aberdeen food court - Came here on Lunar new years eve - so they were opened longer than there regular business hours - and there was a lot of people roaming around - but I think Aberdeen Food Court is always pretty busy - Not much of a vibe - as it's located in a food court - lots of tables - but can still be challenging to land one during peak hours. - Mall was playing new year music - Got the roasted chicken on rice - chicken was very juicy and melt in your mouth soft - the onion sauce was so delicious - however rice seemed a little dry - maybe close to end of day problem? Chicken wings were okay - very crispy - not much to say about the taste - as it just tasted like a generic chicken wing - not much to really set it apart.

Well, Yelp, I'm back. I've decided to reinvigorate this account in hopes of delaying the Mind Rot from endless scrolling and cheap dopamine hits. And we'll flick the switch on the reboot with John 3:16 (food court version). We're located in the aberdeen mall food court. God speed to you if you've driven here. The parking garage is winding, treacherous and littered with more corpses' than Everest in 96'. On to the food, survivor. John 3:16 is the short king big brother to this express outlet (obv). A Richmond legend, the original has thrived at their original dilapidated location and is now spawning rapidly as the bible thumpers are wanton to do. Today, we're gonna order the classic beef rendang with Roti. Let's dig in! The Roti is sweet, flaky and very buttery. It's very good in smaller doses but becomes a little too rich when given 2 larger pieces, and, then combined with creamy curry sauce. I'd like to see them combo 1 piece roti and rice with the beef rendang. Currently, it's get the rice or the Roti, not both. The disappointment comes from the beef. It starts tender in the mouth but quickly turns into a dry, almost endless chew. In the end, you gotta decide to either spit or swallow. Quite a change from the succulent morsels the kids and I devoured just a week earlier at their original temple just up 3 road. The sauce itself was solid. Perhaps missing a smidgen of umami it was decent, especially for food court fair. 3.5/ 5 stars. Downgraded to 3 because I'm a dick and I KNOW they can do much better. Sub umbra floreo

I have an extremely high bar for food court hainan chicken, but John 3:16 exceeded my expectations! The chicken was smooth, flavourful, and refreshing on a hot day and topped with sauces and garnishes. The food also comes with a nice soup to make the experience authentic!

This is the express version of John 3:16 located at the Aberdeen Centre food court. The food was all so incredibly delicious! The ayam goreng is perfectly marinated and seasoned on the meat, not just the outer crust. The chicken satay was also so good that even without the peanut sauce, it is already perfect. The sambal fish has the right amount of heat while still being tender with a crunchy exterior. Two thumbs up ! #Food #AyamGoreng #ChickenSatay #SambalFish #AberdeenCentre #FoodCourt #Lunch

    Hainanese Chicken

After having been to the restaurant, it definitely isn't the same but is very convenient. My dish -- Hainanese chicken (15.95) was made fairly quickly and it came with a bowl of warm clear soup which I enjoyed. While the portion initially looked smaller than I expected, it was quite filling and I really liked the provided sauce. While not the best I've had, I also don't have Hainanese chicken often in Vancouver so it was a fairly solid option. As other reviewers have mentioned, they only take debit and cash.

    Hainanese chicken over rice

Came here after going to HK BBQ and finding that it was closed until 11/15. A friend recommended going to the Aberdeen mall so I did! I stumbled upon this place and noticed it had pretty solid Google reviews. I got the Hainanese chicken ($15.95)over rice and a cup of water ($.25). It does take a few minutes (15) to make the dish but I had no issue with that (and the staff member let me know ahead of time). I will say that while the portion was rather small it was very tasty. I thorough enjoyed the dish. As for the ambiance - you're in a food court mall haha so it's really nothing special at all. Note that this place takes only debit and cash (no credit cards).

Roasted chicken on rice comes with soup

Love this place!! The roasted chicken on rice is very popular and gets sold out quickly usually by 6 pm. They have really good roti canai with curry sauce. Portions are relatively generous. This is cash only similar to many food courts in Aberdeen. My friends had the laksa noodle soup which they enjoyed. I think their price is pretty decent. There is plenty of seating area in the mall. The biggest challenge is to make sure you get the chicken meal before its sold out.

I finally got to try this place on December 12th. I stopped by Aberdeen food court where there was a queue and the restaurant had balloons decorated around it. It made me wonder if this place is good. I came back few days later to get lunch. I ordered Curry Laksa ($14.95) and Teh Tarik ($3.50). I was not happy when Laksa came with egg noodles. I went back right away asking for vermicelli. The young girl did NOT help me at all. She replied saying there's no other option besides egg noodles. Teh Tarik tasted alright. I asked to have it half sweetened it was just a typical powdered milk tea. Their Laksa is NO different to other places. Maybe I could've eaten better food at Crystal Mall or from home. Laksa came with little meat , but tons of noodles. For the price I pay, the food wasn't even cheap. It could've been better. Besides the young girl didn't know how to do customer service. She can simply ask kitchen staff just to swap different noodles. I ended up wasting my money and food here.

Haven't had such good Malaysian food in a long time. Got their beef rendang with roti canai and their Chicken curry Laska. Chicken top notch, beef rendang was flavorful and soft.

Busy restaurant but was able to be seated without a wait on Friday night. The hainan chicken was nice and tender. The roti was also delicious. I thought the satay was okay but wished the peanut sauce had more flavor. The char kway teow was not authentic though.

We were able to grab a table for 2 around 8pm, which is great given how busy this place usually is. We ordered the following: Chicken Skewers: Decently grilled with a the meat juicy and tender meat. The nice peanut sauce hit the spot! Seafood laksa: Full of deep rich flavours, this also really hit the spot especially on a cold and rainy night. The mix noodles had a nice chew and there were lots of tofu, seafood, and a full boiled egg (cut in half). Definitely a solid bowl of laksa! Fried Noodles: A great comfort dish. The noodles were springy and well-seasoned, with plenty of toppings mixed in. Not greasy, which I really appreciated, and the portion was generous. Roti: Comes with a thin curry sauce and served with sugar on the side. The roti is super buttery, soft, and flakey. One of the best roti's in the city! The curry sauce is too thin for my liking but decent flavours. Overall, the service is prompt but no frills. The food speaks for itself and is tasty at good portions at decent prices.

Their CHAR KOAY TEOW is good too - it is chewy and not greasy. It's my first time trying the BBQ ribs. The meat is tender and so well seasoned. I'll order the dish again. Service and cleanliness is normal. I like that they let us have hot tea instead of water for free. The parking lot at the back alley has quite a lot of spots so it is easy to find a spot. I am excited they're opening in Burnaby soon. Hopefully the food quality in the new location would be as good as the one in Richmond.

They are pretty well known for their lobster laksa, which is $19 on its own. We ended getting the combo that included curry chicken rice, curry fish balls, roti, a soda and a milk tea for $39. The fish balls and curry chicken rice were pretty standard. The chicken has a slight spiciness to it. They do give plenty of rice. Now for the star attraction, the lobster laksa comes with a whole lobster tail. It's a pretty small lobster tail that was a bit salty. Certainly not the best lobster tail I've ever had, but at this price point it's rare to get a lobster tail. The laksa itself was quite good. Really like the soup, which as not super thick but it was creamy, sweet and flavorful. Noodles and the fish cake inside were decent. Overall, it's a good amount of food and decent deal for the price.

It came with 4 prawns, a small sliced boiled egg, some tofu(?) thingy and bean sprouts. The noodle consists of a mix of vermicelli and round noodles. The major disappointment was that the soup was neither thick nor flavorful. It was watery and as if the vendor cheaped out on adding a teeny bit more sauce. Also, the portion was not very generous. Usually when i order from other restaurants and vendors, the dish would come with other toppings such as fish balls and tofu puff, plus the portion was a bit more. This was my third time trying this vendor after a long time as i was also not impressed by previous visits. I don't think I'll ever go back again. This is more of a 2.5 stars experience.
