I had the mono vision Lasik done several years ago. For the first 4-5 years, it was great. But as time has gone by, my vision has increasingly gotten worse. I am now wearing glasses fulltime again. I wished I would have just saved that money. I was not told that it was only a temporary fix. I've you're in your 20's, it may be okay, but I was in my 40's. I really wanted to get Lasik again (since I regressed after having it done the first time when I was 20 yrs old). So I went to a consultation on a Tuesday and Thankfully, I was a candidate for Lasik and didn't have to do PRK Surgery, cause Lasik recovery is a 4 hour nap, as opposed to PRK I'd have to be down for 3-4 days with blurry vision and burning eyeballs yikes! They were able to see me Thursday! I was impressed how fast the process was. They give half a Xanax to calm my nerves , plus numbing eye drops and surgery took about 3 minutes on each eye, And PAINLESS!!! I could see immediately after, just light sensitivity so I kept my shades on . I went to Chic-Fil-A to have lunch and then took another half of Xanax to be able to sleep. After my 4 hour nap, I woke up feeling normal and could see clearly. It's a bit annoying having to sleep with goggles the first week, and putting eyedrops in every hour while awake. Totally worth it though. It's been a few months and I just put eyedrops 3x a day. It feels amazing to be able to wake up and just SEE again . I greatly appreciate everyone here that accommodated me and my million and one questions about my procedure. This place is elegant and clean. It made me feel at ease. They have payment plans to help with your finance questions or you can pay all outright. If you have insurance, they do reduce the amount. This is a HUGE thank you to the ALL front desk staff, ALL the medical assistants, Vicky, Cindy, Dr. Tran, Dr. Joseph, and Tracy. They all had great attitudes and was very knowledgeable about the lasik process. I loved how I was only under the laser process for less than about 10 minutes. I was questioning as if the procedure was done already! That's how fast it was! I'd do it again if it came down to it. The recovery period was super quick (4+ hours of sleep) and I was able to see clearly the very same night! The warm welcome and informative responses from all personnel helped me with this decision. If you want the short version... My sister and cousin referred me here, and I had an amazing experience! Now for the longer review! From the moment I stepped in the door, Ms. Patti's made me feel so relaxed, and I was very nervous. If I tell you I laughed, and had a good time through my whole appointment. It made it that much easier. I finished up with a very charismatic young female doctor, who I had great laughs with as well. Now on my day of surgery a week later, I was great all the way up until I was placed at the machine. I had a complete panic attack, and begged to be taken out of the machine immediately. I was so embarrassed, and then just tried to tell Dr. Joseph to just go ahead anyway. He could tell how scared I was, mostly because I was in a full sweat, and refused to let me rush myself. That very kind man along with the people in the room, slowed things down, got me some cold water, and assured me I wasn't being dramatic. They then talked me through the entire process, as we did it slowly. I woke up that evening after a long nap, with great vision, as I found myself reaching for my unneeded glasses. I had been calling around town for months looking for an affordable LASIK experience. Everywhere I called quoted me approximately 1500/eye which was twice what I really wanted to spend on the procedure. I heard an ad for the LASIK Vision Institute on the radio that said they guaranteed to be 20% below their competition so I called and booked a free consultation. In the meantime, I stumbled on a Groupon that offered both eyes for $1495 which was BY FAR the best deal I had seen anywhere. I bought the groupon before I even set foot in the office. The consultation appointment was great- I didn't wait long after my appt time to be seen and all of the staff were super friendly. They let me know I was a good candidate for the procedure but recommended custom LASIK for my prescription (-3.0 in both eyes and an astigmatism in one). My Groupon was good for the "bronze package" only which is traditional LASIK instead of the computerized custom procedure. While I'm sure the custom version is somehow more accurate and advanced, something about having the actual doctor handling the laser instead of the computer made me feel better... Long story short: Dr. January was awesome and made me feel comfortable. The procedure took 15 minutes tops and four hours later I opened my eyes to 20/15 vision. HIGHLY recommend this procedure to anyone who wears glasses or contacts-- best thing I ever did for myself. read more

6 months post op, even though my close up vision is def worse that when I had the surgery (which they told me would happen)I am still ecstatic that I chose not to do the mono vision. Some days I look into the distance and still get giddy that I CAN SEE!! I still feel like it was the best money I have ever spent on myself. If you're on the fence, just do it. I still have to use the eye drops everyday, mostly at night, I usually wake up about 2x and have to use them but my husband likes to sleep with the fan on and (1) you're not supposed to and (2) it, of course, dries out my eyes. read more

My right eye was still -0.5 after 8 months even I follow their instructions to use eye drops frequently. Blur vision, especially at night. Went in for a consultation and thought it was a great deal that they were able to get me in the same day I called... gravely mistaken. When they say it will take 1.5-3 hours for a CONSULTATION they're not lying! I arrived at 10 AM and didn't get out of there until close to 1. The front desk personnel aren't very friendly - it seems as if they could care less about being there. After waiting for about 30 minutes, Eva spoke with me about the basics of LASIK and answered questions but seemed rather disinterested and got flustered when I kept asking questions. Seriously?? These are my eyes. Yes, I'm going to want to know what's going on. Finally, when I went to get the exams, the ladies were kind but still seemed like I was just another number to them and I was in an assembly line. I even asked, "how many patients do you see per day?" and they responded with, "oh girl, too many to count. So many." That definitely didn't calm my nerves at all. My eyes were then dilated and I saw the OD. She was the only positive to this whole experience as to why I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1. Unfortunately, I don't remember her name but she was kind and slowed the process down so I didn't feel rushed. Lastly, I went back to Eva who asked if I wanted to go ahead with the process (I was only eligible for PRK). When I sat and pondered my options for more than a couple minutes she again got frustrated and said, "okay, wanna just think about it?" not at all in a friendly tone though. I wrongly decided to go ahead and schedule it for the next Friday with a $100 deposit. The only reason I wanted to do it there was because of the price. The next day I felt uneasy about the whole thing and decided to cancel my appointment. When I called Eva she was very pushy about rescheduling and keeping the deposit but I insisted on a refund. I still haven't received a refund yet... so we'll see if that even comes through. Never got the procedure done but I was warned that the plugs they "recommend" you to get are not necessary. Not many places do them and they're only done upon request other places. I decided to go with another company for my LASIK (and one who approved me for LASIK instead of PRK because they use all laser instead of the blade). SO SO happy with my results there. read more

Had lasik surgery here 3 months ago with no issues. I'm now 20/15. The price is the cheapest in the area that includes a lifetime warranty. So if your vision starts to get worse- you can get lasik performed again for free. You just have to get a yearly eye exam to keep the warranty in effect. Despite the cheap price, I never felt like I was receiving anything less than state of the art care. Dr Joseph was super informative before and during the procedure. Everyone in the staff has always been welcoming. I never had outrageously long waits for any of my visits. The first visit and day of surgery took the longest- but that was to be expected. You don't want to rush through the planning and surgery when your eyes are involved. Very in depth exams/scans, so it takes more time than your traditional plain eye exam. My only complaint is that there is no bathroom available for patients. It sucks to have to go down to the first floor when you have nervous, presurgery bladder kicking in. ...So pee first! read more

I would not get my procedure done here if it wasn't for the groupon. Brought the price down from over $3000 to $2000 ($999 per eye). The place has extremely long wait times. I was there for just shy of four hours on the day of my free consultation. Day of the procedure was another three hours. They did change the procedure from LASIK to PRK on the day of the procedure, which I thought was unprofessional. So this is not a review for the actual Lasik surgery at the Lasik Vision Institute because I haven't had it done yet. I've been sitting in their waiting room for over 3.5 hours waiting for them to call my name to get the procedure started. My appt was scheduled for 1040. I get here, sign in, and they tell me to have a seat in the waiting room. 2 hours later after getting tired of sitting I ask the receptionist if I had missed my name being called due to several people who got here after I did were called. She said she would check. An hour later she tells me that there are 2 more people ahead of me. I understand that there are wait times in doctor offices, but 3+ hours is ridiculous. I'll write an updated review after finally having the surgery. But just know that if you do plan on having Lasik surgery done here at the Lasik Vision Institute, don't be in a hurry, and plan on spending the day in the waiting room. Today 10/23/18 I had a consultation schedule for lasik, everything was fine until the Technician, a black lady with an Afro (wish I could remember her name) took me to one of the rooms. She asked me when was the last time I wore contacts and I replied that I was currently wearing, her tone change and rudely asked "they didn't tell you about not wearing contacts?" So I said that when I had called them a few days earlier to cancel my consultation because I couldn't find my glasses the man I spoke with on the phone said it was okay for me to come with contacts for the consultation. I told her if it's an issue I can reschedule the consultation again. She then says she'll take me to another room so that it's not a "total waste of time" her own words. I'm sitting in the chair and she says that the people who I spoke with in their main office don't know anything and why would they tell me to wear contacts and keeps ranting, I told her it was this office that I had called a 281 number or something like that, she then says "no we don't have a 281 number, we have a 713 number", I'm like "it was a Houston number, it was this location that I called and regardless the information should be the same all across" she then says "those are our scheduling people, they don't know anything, I'm the technician..." and keeps on going, so I tell her that if the scheduling people don't know anything that maybe they should have transferred me with someone with more knowledge. She continues ranting about how she's a technician and so on. At this point I'm feeling really uncomfortable because she's being hostile and rude and on top of that throwing her coworkers under the bus, I tell her that I'm just going to leave and she says "I'm gonna go get a manager you can speak with". Dennis comes out to speak with me, he was very understanding of the situation and very friendly. He offered to get me another technician or reschedule the consultation, I declined. I wasn't upset about the misunderstanding about the contact lenses, I was upset at how the "technician" got an attitude with me. I told Dennis that if she talked to me that way like it was nothing it means she's talked to other patients that way. Dennis gets 5 stars from me to be exact. Overall, I don't have time or patience with rude staff, especially when I'll be paying over $1000 PLUS for Lasik. Dennis was at no fault and he made the situation a lot better but unfortunately her crappy attitude ruined the whole visit for me and after giving it some thought I rather find another Lasik Business that will gladly accept my money and not be hostile. read more

Very unhappy patient. I had my consultation and everything went well. We scheduled my surgery for this morning at 7:15, because I wanted to be able to make it to my little sisters birthday party later in the afternoon. On the morning of, I tried several times to call and confirm before leaving the house because we live forty minutes away. There was no reply and I figured it was because its outside their normal business hours. So we drove all the way there, ready for the surgery, only to be told at the front desk that the doctor had his flight pushed back and was not going to be in for another four hours at least. The receptionist said that she would have called, but my name wasn't even on the list of surgeries for today (????). So that's it. She said we could sit and wait until 11, but that wouldn't work for me because I had my sisters birthday that I did not want to miss. I really wish that we had gotten a call saying don't come this morning. On top of that there was no apology or customer service from her regarding the fact that somebody at the institution messed up and we were greatly inconvenienced because of it. In fact, she said "you shouldn't have scheduled it on the day you had something going on because you need to rest". Excuse me?? We scheduled it at the top of the morning specifically after consulting with the people at our previous appointment. If everything had worked out there would have been plenty of time for everything. Well anyway, long story short this center really disappointed me and my family, and I will definitely never want to return to this one again. Oh well, I can deal with glasses for a while longer. By the way, the only good part was Eunice who took care of me at my initial appointment and was super super nice. read more
