Unfortunately, the food is consistently undermined by poor customer service and a seemingly indifferent management. Food comes fast...too fast. Entrees sometimes arrive just minutes after the appetizer hits the table, making the meal feel rushed and poorly paced rather than enjoyable. You have to ask for everything, and even simple requests feel like inconveniences to the server. Once the food is delivered, there is little to no follow-up. Eventually, the bill is dropped on the table and the server disappears again. When you eat out, you're paying for more than just the food...you're paying for service and a well-managed dining experience. That's a big part of the value, and it simply isn't offered at Blackhorse. Eating out is already expensive, and it becomes unreasonably so when the service is this consistently lacking. If the service and overall management improved, this place might be worth reconsidering. For now, the decent food alone doesn't justify the experience or the expense.

We ordered chips and salsa as an appetizer and the multi-colored chips were served artfully arranged. The salsa was great. My husband perused the salad bar and decided to order that while I had the honey chicken. The food was very good. We both enjoyed the food, service and ambiance. Though we didn't order wine or alcoholic drinks, they gave a nice bar and I would consider it for next time. Thank you, Black Horse for a lovely dinner!

Hidden Gem Just Off the Interstate…read more If you ever find yourself near Beneventi's Italian Restaurant, do yourself a favor and stop in. My husband and I stumbled upon this place while traveling, and it turned out to be one of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the history in the air. Antique items are displayed throughout, and as you enjoy authentic Italian recipes passed down for generations, you're surrounded by photos of those very generations who built this restaurant's legacy. It's a place that feels both warm and welcoming, like stepping into someone's home. I ordered the Trio, which included lasagna that was absolutely phenomenal--rich, flavorful, and clearly made using the family's secret recipe. My husband went for a pizza, made in-house with the freshest ingredients. Everything came out piping hot, and the flavors were out of this world. The service was excellent, and the manager was kind enough to give us a tour of the property. We were blown away by how beautiful it is, especially the outdoor stage--this would be an amazing wedding venue! And whatever you do, don't leave without trying their bread pudding. Trust me. I took some to-go and didn't regret it! P.S. Jan, when I said I'd wait until I got home, I lied. I ate it in the car.

DELICIOUS! I actually heard about this place from a Reddit post about places to stop on a road trip…read moreacross Texas and I'm so glad I listened! It's home cooked food, calories-not-monitored, but worth every single bite. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but I knew it was going to be good when we saw the parking lot was overflowing into the grass. Luckily there was still an open table inside and we were welcomed by the sweetest staff and our waitress was just as wonderful. So many things looked good on the menu, but I couldn't resist ending this road trip with another taste of chicken fried steak to compare to Mary's (and they can definitely compete because it was AWESOME)! We also tried the chicken fried chicken (delicious), sweet potato casserole (amazing), Mae's potato casserole (tasty), cheese sticks (good), and the hamburger and fries which was obviously delicious enough that my picky daughter almost finished it - which says a LOT! We were very glad that we'd ordered the "smaller portions" for lunch because it meant we could grab a few of the desserts to go to snack on for our final leg of the road trip and keep enjoying at home. We tried the toffee cake (incredible), peanut butter cake (sinfully good), and the coconut pie (very light and creamy)! We also snagged some items to take home with us from their coolers and I can 100% recommend their pork tamales and summer sausage. If you get the chance to stop here, you won't regret it at all! Delicious, great service, and good portions!
