Pretty good little place. My family and I were headed West, worried we missed our chance to eat when we didn't take the Hannibal exits. We were happy to find Joe's Diner in this truck stop. Little girls had the Texas Burger and the Country Fried Steak. Both were devoured with their approval. The wife had a popcorn chicken salad and said it was good. I ate a bacon cheeseburger. It was a little dry in the middle, but a decent burger all around. We had fried mushrooms as an app, tasted fine. I wouldn't expect amazing food, but what I did sample was better than most places I have been to. If you're looking for decent hot food at a truck stop, look no further. The place could be cleaner, but this is a truck stop. I am not looking for anything but feeding my stomach. read more

Don't let the location fool you. This is a great diner located next to the Ayerco gas station. Visited on a Tuesday morning. Plenty of seating as it well past the time when the farmers would have breakfast. Greeted with a smile and coffee (excellent coffee by the way). Breakfast is served all day. We had the little Joe / eggs, hash browns, sausage and biscuits and gravy. Eggs were cooked perfectly, hash browns were crisp, biscuits were fluffy, and the gravy is made with real cream. Everything was delicious, with very generous portions. I'm sure this place is packed with locals every day. For the traveler- the 50s decor on the wall is very entertaining. Skip the tourist restaurants in Hannibal and give this place a try. You'll be very glad you did. read more

Smoking allowed. Will not go back. The entire place reeked of used ashtray. Would not recommend to anyone.

I can NOT believe they allow smoking in this place...YUCK Then I get My order & it didn't have the mashed potato & gravy...So I just said to forget it! Then the fish fillet was EXCELLENT!! So I ask how much for just another fish fillet bcuz it is EXCELLENT... She says $5...I about choked...a whole meal was only $8.75...⁉ She asked if I wanted another & I said it was good, but NOT that good... Then I went to pay & used a debit card & told her to make it $13.00 even, which gave her a little over 15% tip, which was way more than what she deserved... The credit card receipt showed $13.42⁉ I said I told U to only do $13.00 even, y does this show $13.42 bein charged??? They machine charged an automatic "customer service fee" of $0.42 to the total⁉ Total BULLSHIT... Beware...not good... read more

It was a very delightful experience to dine in this small tucked away from the main highway as it is a truck stop. It was surprising to see a smoke section in the restaurant, but I did not smell any cigarette smoke which usually triggers my asthma. I had Cat Fish dinner, which was excellent, even though I am not a massive fan of freshwater river fish. The young waitress was friendly and sociable. I will definitely be back for this Cat Fish dinner and may try other menus. read more

Came in today 8/22/19, ordered a burger and fries with a soda. After I ordered the waitress Samantha just "dropped" my plate on the table and walked away. Never came back to see how I was doing or offer me a refill on my soda. She joked and carried on with the "regulars" but basically forgot about me. She even forgot to give a check to a customer then told them she had. She was proved wrong but still. She sat at the back table and just left her customers hanging. Worse service I've ever got here. Was in restaurant at 1:40 pm today. And there were 8 customers at 6 tables. ALL other tables were still dirty and had other customers leftovers on table. Young blonde waitress was VERY disrespectful and rude. I have eating at this establishment for over 20 yrs and have never been treated so poorly. We left due to waitress saying to sit anywhere. Then she will clean table off.. But who wants to sit where it's not clean. I doubt if we will ever be back again. read more

Interesting place. Lots of 50's 60's and 70's crap on the walls to look at. Elvis and Marilyn both ate here I'm sure. Service was better than average and my roast beef dinner was delicious. Yes there is smoking allowed but the place is not smoky or smelly. The only bad thing I noticed was the gum from the vending machine in the men's room tasted like rubber. read more

Im sorry folks but this place is sad. My sunday nite dinner special consisted of 2 legs green beans cottage cheese a roll and a very small side salad. I asked the waitress what the sides were she pointed over on the wall to a board expecting me to get up and look upon going back n telling her she then told me two of three i chose werent available. Now im guessing if you knew what you dont have wouldnt you as a waitress know what you do have. The two tiny legs were old an dry . Did i mention tiny. You walk thru smoking to get to non smoking. She said i dont make the rules i just work here. the cottage cheese was the best tjing on my plate. Will not eat here again . read more

The smoke fills the restaurant. The non smoking section is way at the back through the thick cloud. You are better off not entering this time warp into history. Food is adequate at the fuel desk if you look at the time it was made. Stay away from the onions. read more

I went in to check out what they had to offer, the smell of smoke ruined my appetite and I left empty handed. Seemed like a decent place to grab some food while out and about on the road. If you don't mind some cigarette smoke all up in yo nostrils then I say go on in and check it out! read more

If you are looking for a place to find the crud from your shoes, you've found it in Joe's Diner West. Sketchy doesn't even begin to describe the type of nasty that accompanies the server attitudes and glimpse into the kitchen. Once we ordered, it took far too long to be served. When taking into account the length of time and the disaster that lay beyond the swinging door to the kitchen, I'm only able to assume they were staffing an active meth lab instead of my table. I'll just go to another alternative next time. read more
