We stopped for breakfast...service was very quick and friendly. Food arrive quickly even though they were busy. Orders were accurate and well cooked. Everything was good, other than the weak spot was the gravy which is why they didnt get 5 stars. Understandably, the place gets noisy when busy...which to me is to be expected and shouldn't affect a review. read more

Stopped in for a small meal with my daughter on a cold Sunday. Not many options other than fast food, so we decided on this diner. Once inside, we were greeted and seated quickly. There were many booths and tables in the dining area. Looked very clean and tidy. Our waitress answered our questions and we made our selections, chicken salad on croissant and a Gyro omelet. The diner offer breakfast all day! The chicken salad sandwich was served on a toasted croissant and was creamy and had a great taste. The Gyro omelet had a great amount of gyro meat, peppers, onions and feta. read more

The food was pretty good even though I thought that it was a bit pricey. The service was okay, but not great. The bathrooms were clean and the place was well kept We were sat quickly despite it being a busy Saturday lunch. Overall not bad, but not great. read more

Food and service was great. We were in Mexico MO for three days and went there on recommendations from hotel staff. Ended up doing every meal there the whole time. Large portions, everything delicious! Looks like a local's favorite. Always lots of customers but never slow on service, well run. read more

Came with a group of nine people visiting MMA yesterday for lunch and served very quickly and we all enjoyed our food. I couldn't believe how inexpensive it was and we just finished eating the leftovers today. Very happy with our experience. read more

This was a nice off the main road diner to grab lunch. Friendly staff, good food and service. Would stop again when in area.

Food , and service both great! If considering somewhere to eat, try 54 Diner, you won't be disappointed.

A little hole in the wall joint in a small town that has amazing food and customer service.

Such a bustling place! Seems like the whole town knows how pleasant Highway 54 is. Great service with a friendly staff! Waitress was very attentive. Food was hot, fresh, and yummy!! I can definitely understand why this place is busy on the weekend. Would definitely recommend this place in Mexico! Our food was scrumptious - ordered biscuits and gravy, pigs in a blanket (pancakes wrapped around sausage links), veggie skillet, Greek omelet. Biscuits and gravy weren't very exciting (as compared to our other dishes) but still filled the belly. Grateful for Highway 54 Also appreciate the festive Christmas decor on the inside. read more

What a very nice surprise! We were there for Friday lunch and the place was packed. Service was still prompt and very friendly. I had the cheeseburger which came with fries or soup and I opted for my favorite chicken and dumplings. They had an odd yellow color to them but they were delicious anyway. Prices are extremely reasonable and servings are generous. We finished off with lemon meringue pie and cherry pie and both were delicious. The crowd seemed all local and were very friendly to us Texans passing through. read more

We stumbled upon this place on our way to Jefferson City. It's a very popular place with the locals. The prices on the menu are very reasonable and from what I can tell from the other patrons, they are very generous in their portions. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with fries and my hubby ordered the cheeseburger with a cup of soup.... which was chicken and dumplings. The cup is really a bowl. My hubby said they are good but didn't have much chicken. The bacon cheese burger came with two good full slices of bacon. They toasted the buns just like I like it. It's a big burger for the money ($8.99) fries are included. read more

They could be more honest with the " discount" posted on their front door. There is no discount for paying with cash, you are still paying full menu price. If you pay by debit or credit, there is an upcharge. read more

The Service was great, but the food we'd give mixed reviews. I ordered the pork chops & my husband ordered breakfast. My salad & baked potato were great, I thought the ranch dressing tasted homemade. But my pork chops were very disappointing. The menu says center cut, but they were more like pork steaks, fatty & boney. They looked good but were tough and not center cut. My husband asked for hashbrowns with a little bit of onion, they were crispy, but fried in oil with the onions on top, not mixed in. The eggs & sausage were cooked well & the biscuits & gravy were delicious with plenty of gravy. read more

I ate breakfast here while visiting three days running and was not disappointed ever! Ordered three different things each time and all were great. Attentive wait staff and very reasonably priced! Will eat there again if I get down this way again! read more

Driving thru Mexico back home from trip. Not many options open on Sunday evening. Food was disappointing

Decent food, nothing fancy. Good fries and nice burger. Lots of locals. Didn't try the pie

Fast, friendly service even on a busy Saturday morning when everyone wants breakfast. Food tastes homemade. Reasonable prices. Clean. Big menu. read more

Nice place with plenty of room and delicious food. Had sandwiches for lunch but I want breakfast next time

Their food has always been good & the servers are always on the move to make sure everyone is happy. I'd rate this restaurant a 5.

Sat there for 30 minutes and no one helped us after getting drinks. We have kids. We are a biracial family. It was really upsetting. No one would even make eye contact. One waitress wrapped silverware while we waited. Again, after we got drinks, not one person acted like we were even there. We walked out and had a surprisingly delightful meal at China Hill. read more

This place is good! Pulling into the parking lot I was encouraged by the amount of cars out front, even though it was well after lunchtime. Upon entering we were immediately greeted and tables were pushed together to accommodate our party of 6. The place has your typical diner atmosphere, friendly service staff, booths with vinyl covering and plastic menus. The menu had a great variety - everyone in our group got something different and everyone was very happy with their choice. I had the double bacon cheeseburger with fries and it was fantastic. If you find yourself in Mexico or driving past on hwy 54 - swing by for a meal. You won't be disappointed. read more

Wow talk about menu options. They offered a gyro breakfast skillet something I've never seen before. I opted with the Irish skillet, which was very crispy and savory. My son had a burger, which featured fresh toppings, including a juicy and tender patty. The only thing I have to say is , people may be overwhelmed by the choices. A little bit of focus on the diners part and you are sure to enjoy what you pick. Definitely another awesome dining experience in Mexico, Mo read more

Not expensive but the food is good and seems to be made to order instead of thawed and reheated like most places.

I've been going here about ten years now with my family and honestly, it's the best diner in Mexico. The food is great, the staff are really nice and professional. The diner itself has a great atmosphere and the facilities are clean and tidy. read more

My husband and I were traveling all day on a motorcycle and was recommended this place. We were seated right away and got our drinks. The menu looked amazing. We were so hungry and were excited to order. Unfortunately another party of 5 came in about 5 minutes after us. I guess they looked more important. We had finished our drinks while we watched our waitress take their food order. Listened to every food exception they asked for. As the waitress started to bring that group their salads is when I finally got up and asked if someone was going to take our order or wait on us. The waitress that was supposed to wait on us looked at another person and asked them if she could take us. That kind of ended it for us. We said we just wanted to pay for our drinks and go. I am sure their food is delicious but I hope you get better service than we did. I guess we didn't look like high paying customers although we are normally big tippers. The manager was nice enough to comp the tea and soda. read more

The food here is always super good. I love their steaks personally, they need to work on getting the doneness on steaks

cold food and just ok service. clean. help was going off shift and chatted loudly at the checkout most of the time we were there. had to wait too long at the register to even pay. Not horrible just not close to being the best. read more

This was one of the best dinners that serves breakfast. I have never had such amazing pancakes, biscuits and gravy, and bacon. The pancake was huge but I managed to eat it all. The bacon might have been the best part, it wasn't drenched in grease as most restaurants do. If you are ever passing through Mexico Missouri this is what I would recommend. It serves other meals such as lunch and dinner but it has an amazing breakfast. read more

I order quite a bit here, both inside and carryout. The service is almost always great, and the food is fairly priced and portioned. They have always been respectful and courteous, which is sometimes hard to find as a trans woman in a small town restaurant. read more

I had stopped here for an easy comfy breakfast. The place looks a bit weathered on the outside, but the inside was well furnished. Came in on a Friday and it was half way full with locals and a few weary travelers giving off the relaxed diner atmosphere. Their menu was comprehensive with a more southern approach to breakfast. I had ordered the sirloin steak and eggs and coffee. The waitress was very attentive and accommodating. When my steak came out it was on its own plate and was juicy. I had ordered it medium and the taste was a bit bland. Not much creativity in the steak but a bit of a1 sauce helped out. Eggs were perfectly cooked and toast was buttered just right. The only small detail that was a bit annoying was the ketchup bottle had built up pressure and slightly exploded causing a bit of a mess. Besides that The diner was well kept and appetizing. read more

Let's keep it real people. This is a diner. Do not expect James Beard Award chefs here. Once you are good with that, you will really enjoy this place! I come here every time I am in town and this last time, I was here 4 times in 3 days. It appears that they have renovated the place a bit, which is nice. The servers are great and the food is good and plentiful. I generally stick to burgers or breakfast and they are great! I especially liked the Gyro Skillet. Their Tzatziki sauce is good too and reminds me of the mom and pop greek places in Illinois. I am usually too full for desert, but they have a great selection of pies and a few that are no sugar added. read more

This is the place to be! The selection on the menu is quite varied, especially when you consider how small the town is. Everything is made fresh. After you walk past the special board, you are greeted by the day's selection of fresh handmade goodies that the owner's wife has concocted for dessert. Sadly most people are too stuffed from the large portions to have room for cake, pie, or cheesecake. Make a special trip for coffee and pie--you won't be disappointed! Be warned, however, Mexicoans love to eat out! The Diner gets very busy during peak dining hours. It's not a place to zip in and out. (Try McDonalds across the parking lot!). The waitstaff is great. Last but not least, anything on their menu can be ordered for takeout/pickup. They don't deliver, but if you can get a "go-fur" you're set! read more

I generally have the fried chicken salad and have no complaints, but others in my party have had complaints each time we have eaten here. Burgers taste "strange", hair in food, etc. The one complaint I have personally is the bacon...it is terrible. Possibly the worst I have ever eaten. Everyone else in my party felt the same. With that being said, it is probably still one of the better places in town to eat (very sad). Atmosphere is pleasant and the waitstaff have always been friendly. read more

We used to enjoy this diner, but it has gone down hill drastically. Our last few visits we noticed several employees breaking quite a few health regulations. Using dirty rags to wipe tables, having that dirty rag in the same hand with clean silverware as they put the silverware on tables. Our table was sticky, trash on the floor that ALL employees ignored. We were almost afraid to eat our food. The server acted very disinterested when we complained. WE WON'T BE BACK!!!! read more
