5 Being a Travel RN, I drive a lot! Having completed a year in Buffalo, my next contract took me to Indiana where I'm currently contracted to work. I've always taken my Fiat to Joe's Auto...so, made sure I had gotten my oil changed and anything else that needed repaired before I left NY end of May. This past July, I knew my car would need another oil change, so I timed a visit back to Hamburg to make sure that happened. Funny thing is, 3 weeks ago, I traded my Fiat in & purchased a Nissan Murano. Guess what? I drove in from Indiana this part Thursday. The main task on my list to do while in Buffalo....Go to Joe's Auto in Hamburg! They have always been efficient and more than fair pricing. More importantly, they treat you like family. I brough my 2014 Scion in for an inspection last year and was told that the car had an oil leak and needed an expensive test (well over $100) to determine where the leak was coming from. I was sceptical since the car is always parked in my driveway and there has never been oil spots. I went for a second and third opinion and was informed there was no oil leak. My car, like typical older 4 cylinder vehicles has a tendency to burn through some oil and to check the levels periodically. Since then there have been no issues, there has continued to be no oil in the driveway. I was told previously by other people to avoid using this shop and now I know why!!! read more

DO NOT TRUST THIS BUSINESS!!! My vehicle overheated because of a radiator leak; I had Joe's tow it to their shop. Next thing I know, I get a $4000 plus estimate for work that needs to be done. We had someone from Ellicottville Auto look over the quote and found that Joe's inflated part prices x3. Said I needed a whole new radiator and all sorts of other things done. Ended up having it towed to our local guy (Ellicottville Auto) who found and fixed the leak (a clamp), replaced the thermostat and a windshield wiper for under $300. Joe's charged me more for the towing and diagnostics ($352). They saw a female and thought they could rake me over the coals. I repeat DO NOT TRUST THIS BUSINESS!!! They are a complete rip off. They have this part that's guaranteed. After the part fails you return to their shop with a very high estimate to fix it. Complete BS at that shop! They were able to take my car in for an inspection the next day. When I dropped my vehicle off, everything went smoothly and I was contacted about 5 hours later to let me know it was ready to be picked up. After we settled up, I got in my car to find a bag of candy and a thank you note! I also happened to notice that they filled up my washer fluid. Then, a few days later someone from the garage called me to ensure that I was satisfied and that everything with my visit went well. I wasn't a regular customer before, but will be now. Took vehicle in for inspection was told need about $800 worth of work. Ok they got me, came back to pick up now they can't find the keys & said oh the check engine light is on now so it wouldn't pass. Come to find out they were using the wrong codes. I took to another place , they noticed front end repaired & said bolts were loose. I'm done they have teenage kids working that don't know what they are doing. Will never go back again. read more

My engine light was on in my car and I needed an inspection so I took it in to Joe's. They said it would be $200 just for a smoke test. I called another shop and they told me to get my car out of there because I shouldn't be paying more than $65. When I called and told Joe's that, they tried to act like it was a bargaining situation and that the lowest they could go was $160. This blew my mind because I should only be getting charged what it costs to do the job. There shouldn't be any haggling involved. I'm coming to you for a service and you charge me accordingly. I am a 20 y/o girl coming in by myself so I assume they tried to take advantage of that. Very disappointed. read more

I went there on April 20, 2021 for an oil change. Last week, 5 weeks later, my dashboard lights up saying I need an oil change and I have only 3% left. Called Joe's and explained what happened. I got an appointment for today. Guy in there was a jackass. Talked down to me. Told me I shouldn't be looking at the dashboard, that I should go by the sticker on windshield. Jackass who did the oil change on April 20 didn't reset and now it's my fault the dashboard lit up? I won't go there again. read more

23 year old girl taken advantage of! went in for an inspection and was charged $600 for my just front rotors and brake pads. I know thats and absolutely outrageous price, Im not stupid. Had to do it because my inspection was overdue and they knew that. So I was polite and went with it. Also needed an oil change and my car needs synthetic oil and I was charged $80 which is like the highest you can go, and then Nick had the audacity to put 5000 miles on my sticker. So I walk back in and confront him and he lies straight to my face telling me it's only good for 5000 miles. So maybe he's being honest and just using $80 synthetic oil that's only good for 5000 miles when I could get some for $65 that's good for 10,000; 7,000 minimum. what a joke. Now I wasn't even going to post a review, but here I am 5000 miles later, checking my oil, and there's literally barely a drop of oil left in there. So they shorted me on oil too, putting my $25,000 car at risk. note: my car had just been inspected by them a few months ago so there's no leaks (unless they missed something), plus it's a 2019, and a reliable vehicle and brand. Never had any issues before. I take the care of my car very seriously, especially when it comes to the engine. I'm not messing around. Then, I pull out of the parking lot and get a notice that my oil needs to be changed. These lazy people that I just paid $700 minimum, couldn't even be bothered to reset the oil monitoring system in my car. Literally, takes a solid 10 seconds. So I reset it myself. Never been anywhere that hasn't reset it. Also, on my moms behalf, she was also overcharged for her brakes and other issues she had with her car (I don't have the exact details and I'm not going to post a public review with details I don't actually know, but I know she had more done to her car and was overcharged). They also did services without asking her first without considering her financial situation (since she had to drop it off and couldn't wait at the shop). My brother has been a mechanic since 2016 and said the prices and experience in general was unethical and a classic example of places to avoid, especially as a female. About to drive across the country to have my brother do my oil change rather than drive a couple miles to this shop again. Receptionist was a nice lady though I give her a gold star. We went in for an inspection only to get a surprise $500 bill for a very strange sounding suspension piece replacement. The repair was not well explained to me and when I said I was going to get a second opinion, I was warned of them charging for the inspection so I might as well just do the job with them. They bring you in with their ads they send every week and then charge you for things you don't need. Be careful. read more

I went in for an inspection and oil change yesterday and it was quick and affordable! Everyone is very friendly and helpful. The waiting room was unexpectedly really nice! Usually at a car shop you're waiting in an uncomfortable chair in a dirty room.. but not here! Nice comfy couches and chairs, a big TV, even a Keurig to help yourself to some coffee! Also, they left a little bag of candy in the car with a thank-you note and referral offer which is a really nice touch :) read more

Joe's was a life saver! We are traveling from Nashville to Montreal and my husband noticed something leaking under the RV. I found Joe's through yelp and we showed up without even calling. Justin and Robert were so nice and got us in very quickly. They found the leak and clamped it. We were in and out in less than an hour and back on the road. They had a cozy waiting area with a big TV, fireplace, and bathroom. There is even a large fish tank that would keep little ones entertained. Local place, reasonable prices, honest service. Not enough stars for the service we received. FANTASTIC service from the towing to the repair. Lost a front wheel while working in the area( I live in the Utica Area Upstate NY ). Joe's towed and repaired the vehicle within a week keeping us in the loop of every step. Was quoted one price and actually paid a little over 800.00 less , yes I said LESS when I picked up the vehicle. Honest and respectable business. would recommend their services to anyone around! I am a mid 20's woman that just went to get an inspection by myself. They quoted be almost $1,200 for useless repairs. As I wanted to leave and get no service- they kept trying to barter with me like it was an auction. How do they go from $1,200 to $385 in 15 minutes. Was here for 3 hours, wouldn't pass my car, and asked me "how much can you afford" probably 4 times. Very unprofessional and untrustworthy. Went to a different shop with my boyfriend that day, passed it with no questions. Sexism at its finest. read more

This is my first time here. Was having an electrical problem with my car and needed an oil change. I called before my appointment because I was running late they told me to take my time. The workers are great with communication and treat their customers very good. They offer free coffee, tea, snacks and Netflix while you wait. Very comfortable place. After a complicated duel problem with the air conditioning on my 2009 Mercury, I give Joe's give stars. First off, when you call, these people are friendly and caring. When I arrived for my appointment, I met Randy. He was polite and friendly. I'm not going to go through my whole car diagnosis and repair, but I have to say that Randy worked with me, considering time spent on fixing this and costs involved. They also have up-to-date diagnoses equipment. Joe's will also provide a ride home and pick you up after repairs. I was impressed that the mechanic, Bart, took the time to explain the problem. He was careful and patient with the repair, as it was tedious, turning 1/4 turns with the wrench, as problem was in a tight spot. As a plus, the waiting area was clean and the workers were sharply dressed...impressive! I will definitely return. I recommend Joe's for auto repair and maintenance...oil changes, inspections, etc. read more

I brought in my car and paid over $4000 to get it fixed at Joe's (head gasket and timing belt). Four days later, I got stranded in Buffalo when my car smoked and overheated. They did fix the immediate problem, which was the radiator hoses. There was not any issue with the radiator hoses prior to going to Joe's so I can only assume they broke them while fixing the head gasket. They also broke my A/C when working on the car and they even left the cover to a WD-40 can inside my engine! Currently, the valve seals continue to leak and so far they are refusing to fix the warranty repairs as promised. Now they are saying I need a new engine; two other mechanics who are familiar with my vehicle told me this was total BS. read more

During a drive back to college from New York, my van's engine gave out and broke down on the side of the highway. It's a 1997 Dodge Ram that I had recently bought it so I was devastated. I was towed to Joe's and looking back, I consider the whole experience a blessing in disguise. Of course, no one wants to pay for an engine replacement, but they made the experience so seamless. Being a college student, I don't have a lot and they worked to get me the best deal possible for everything. Additionally, we had a problem with filling up the gas and it would always take us forever to fill up the tank. Since they did such a good job with the engine we asked them to take a look at it. Not only did they quickly figure out how to fix it, but they also realized that fixing the problem would also fix our gas gauge which was incredible news. We feel like we have a brand new van and couldn't be happier! Special thanks to Eli for the commitment to getting our van in tip-top shape. I can not recommend him and this place enough!!! read more

I have moved out of Buffalo on a student visa in Canada and will forever take the time to drive in over the boarder to go to this auto shop. They are super informative at explaining what needs to be done and why. They are great at prioritizing things you need first if money is tight. They have even helped my friend who was about to get ripped off at another auto shop in Buffalo that told her she needed double the work when she didn't. You can trust this company 150% ! Side note: I don't know any other shop that has a great selection of complementary snacks and drinks in the waiting room or one that leaves a little goody bag in your car when completed! What a RIPOFF. What LIARS. They just want to do UNNECESSARY work that they dream up. We are selling our beloved, well-maintained car, and the new buyer (reasonably) wanted it inspected on a lift. We agreed, and allowed him to pick a garage out of the hat. We ended up at Joe's. That was a HUGE mistake, and JOE's QUEERED the deal. He claimed that our driver's seat was "not bolted down -- that's a safety issue!" BULLSHIT. We have owned the car for almost a decade, and it has always passed inspection... and it is ridiculous to make that claim. It is an absolute lie. The seat is as rock-solid as it was when it left the factory. They also claimed that the car needed a "new power steering pump or hose" because a hose was wet. BULLSHIT. After owning and maintaining the car religiously for nearly a decade, I had topped-up the steering fluid a couple of months ago, and accidentally over-filled it, causing some fluid to drip down. That's also an absolute lie. The steering is as good as ever. There aren't any drips on our snow-covered driveway, and never have been. They also decided that the brake rotors (about 1 year old) were "pitted" and "needed replaced" "because the car isn't driven enough." BULLSHIT. The car is driven daily, and there have NEVER been any brake performance issues. All-in-all, it is clear that Joe's just wants to find unnecessary work to do. Customer service was great. I can only say that I overheard them talking about selling someone on something (as it was beneficial to the customers vehicle for long term sustainability). As a business I understand, however try not to have your customers overhear. It can make for bad business (by way of misunderstanding on the customers part). I did like how they walked me through everything not just explained which made me feel like I am not getting hosed. I really feel Nick is great with customer service and how he and the technician walked me through the issues with my leaking transmission fluid and where and why it's happening. I felt included in the process and not being sold to. The environment is better then any mechanic shop I've seen. They certainly have the right business model which is putting the customer at ease as well as putting the customer first. I am glad I checked out the reviews and chose to use this shop.
