I had an AAV leak under my sink, and while Joe was out of town (on vacation!), he graciously responded to my e-mails in a timely manner to help diagnose the issue and offer solutions (including which products to buy at the hardware store) to my problem (clogged drain, but with the complication that it's attached to a garbage disposal). With some helpful advice (and what NOT to use), I was able to resolve the clogged drain on my own. HOWEVER, if I ever have any more urgent issues that are unresolved -- I know who I'm calling next time. Okay; "all is forgiven" and I'm bumping Joe up to "5-stars" for my recent job. I was stressed out about finding the correct push button and rod assembly to my dual flush toilet that Joe had advised me to DIY. The descriptions and measurements at the online plumbing supply places weren't really that understandable and I had no confidence that I was buying the correct item. But, I took a leap of faith - and it turned out great! It took about a week for the parts to arrive, but I was able to DIY both the dual-flush toilet and the tub spout with diverter. I've had Joe out a couple times, once a year ago to replace a waterheater, and just today to replace a kitchen faucet. We just purchased a house in QA with various small plumbing repairs. We were very satisfied with the degree of customer service and the quality of the repairs. Joe's rates were very fair and he worked quickly and expertly to minimize our expense. AMAZING. He even "found" the main water shut off instantly-- after the home inspector (who apparently is a big time contractor in the area) couldn't "find it". LOL! I've used Joe the Plumber on a couple of occasions for my condo in Queen Anne. The first time, he was quite friendly and helpful and I thought he charged a reasonable fee to fix my kitchen faucet that was leaking. I recommended him to my tenants when we had a noisy/creaky bathroom faucet that needed to be repaired. However, this second time, he not only did a cursory check of my bathroom hardware, but rounded up his time. According to my tenant, he was there from 4:52 to 5:12 (20 mins approx) and charged us for half an hour plus tax. For turning on a faucet and a visual inspection, we were charged $98.64. I looked up the reviews of Joe the Plumber and was a bit hesitant to use him because there were only 3 on Yelp. I'm glad I ended up calling him. I have a rental (3-story townhome) in the North Seattle area and the master shower drain was getting slow. I called Joe up and he was responsive, explained his rate system (a fixed rate for first 15 mins and a smaller rate for every 15 mins thereafter), gave me an estimate that proved accurate and cheaper than his worst case scenario and he was easy to deal with. He has relatively limited hours because I think he drives from the Seatac area but I'd rather go with someone who does good work and charges a fair price than someone who's always available but overcharges and doesn't do a good job. He gave my tenants a time window between 10-12 and showed up at 1045. Much better than the cable installers that's for sure. I'm not claiming to have done tons of research on the matter but his rates seem very reasonable. I'd call him again. read more

My wife and I just bought a house in Seattle. Of course, there were some small things that weren't perfect, like our valves for the washer had slow leaks coming from them. The valves were set deep into the wall, limited access. I brought a photo to ACE and asked how they thought I could get to them to try to fix the leak - they said replace the valves. I tried contacting a handyman service first - they never responded to my email inquiry. Joe called right away, asked for photos, then explained how to fix the problem over the phone. We definitely recommend Joe. We had him out to work on 2 toilets that kept running and one dripping faucet. His prices were way below quotes from the mega plumbers like Fox. He was able to come the day after we called and is a nice, respectable guy. There was a bit of a problem with the faucet and the toilets because we have an older house. He replaced the faucet cartridge but it still didnt work as well as we or he would have liked. He went off to his next job and lo and behold he showed up at our door that evening. He had called the manufacturer and found out the secret step to fix our problem. He came in and fixed it and then wanted to check our toilets again. We recently hired Joe to fix a leaking bathtub drain in our old house in Fremont. He was a really good listener and good at communicating problems and dedicated to finding the solution. Joe is very responsive to emails. He had to reschedule my service and kept me updated while he was gone. He fixed a leaky kitchen faucet. The only bummer is that the diverter doesn't work right. I would like it if he could fix that for free if I get the part. Spending $80 for a five minute job would drive me crazy. He spent two hours fixing my faucet. I made the initial call thinking I needed a plumber to either get under the house and investigate or repipe the entire home but he called me back, discussed my situation and talked me through back flushing the system.
