Service is great. Food is banging. Vibes are vibing. Flies are flying... everywhere, all the time, on all the things for real, what's up with the flies? We frequent a lot of outdoor patios and this is by far the worst one. Had dinner today and it was difficult trying to keep the flies out of our food and drinks. We are here visiting from the DFW area our friend treated us to this place and it was delicious! The waitress sat us down and soon as we walked in and our waiter was friendly and the service was great. It's a casual place and they have lots of seating that is spaced out so you can have your own conversation and not hear the table next to you. Joe Taco has been on "the list" of places to try for a little while now. My son suggested the family try it out and I'm glad he did. The food was delicious- my wife raved about the marinated chicken on her stuffed avocado and I really enjoyed the green chile pork flautas. My daughter tried a Big "A" burrito- those are no joke! Bring your appetite! The decor is interesting but not overwhelming. The party before us left lemons on the floor and they felt the need to crowd five of us onto a four-top by adding a chair, even though there were several empty eight-tops (including the one they took a chair from). It may be because I'm hungry. It may be be a use it's nearly 8pm at night. It may just be because it's been an awesome week already and we just got settled in to Palo Duro Canyon SP for a few days, but this place is hitting it on all cylinders tonight and starting off strong. Chips and salsa have been DEVOURED. Beers are going down one after another, smooth cold and refreshing (ugh, for the plastic glass though) Gauge is taking care of us tonight; We've ordered the Jalapeño bandelaros for an appetizer and chicken fajitas for two for dinner. Bring it on, Joe! We're hungry! Ok, the bandeleros have arrived. Um. Yeah. This are corn dogs from south of the boarder. Shredded chicken stuffed inside a jalapeños and battered (with corn dog like batter) and fried. Tip: cut it in half across the middle, use the stem like a handle and dip it into the sauces. Y'all the sauce. The chipotle ranch. My sinuses have broken loose and I'm crying. Happy tears, I promise. Oh boy. The flavors here are outstanding! We held onto the chipotle ranch to dip our fajitas in. And now I have to walk back my prior comments. Though the flavor is tasty, all that heat must've come from the jalapeños. (This actually makes me a little sad- I was all kinds of excited to find a true HOT cream sauce). Either way, I'm pushing back from the table sated, happy, full. Like everything in Canyon, TX - everything is reasonably priced. We showed up at 6pm on a Monday when the weather was breezy and nice. We had had a long travel day and were ready to eat. We sat outside, which I recommend. The charm of this place is cool. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. Drinks were good. I got a Octoberfest. Our dishes were also excellent. The bill for each of us was like 10 or 15 bucks. This would be a weekly go-to for me if I lived here. If I am back, I will surely visit. Nice job guys!. Keep it up. read more

Family friend Resturaunt that is good for college kids to grab a bite to eat other than the cafeteria. The BBQ Taco is slightly on the greasy side even though it is good. This place has been my To Go To every time when I travel from Dallas to visit family in Amarillo. That is up until last night - 12/30/2024. The food has always been spot on delicious and always consistent with every visit. There were times that my family and I would go here 3 or 4 nights in a row just because of the food. With that said, most of the time in the past we have had EXCELLENT wait staff and bartenders. That is up until this last year. The visits over the last year is hit or miss on the wait staff and bartenders and that is the difference in having a perfect meal or totally regretting going there as it was again last night. The bartender ( young blonde girl) should have never been allowed to set foot behind the bar. My nephew and I sat at the bar and was there a few minutes before someone brought chips and salsa over, however it was several minutes or more before little blondie wanna-be bartender even acknowledged us and she was practically standing right in front of us. In my books that is PATHETIC. It gets worse from there. When we finally got to order our drinks, she looked like she could hardly comprehend what we ordered and that was two simple beers. With mine, I asked for two slices of orange to go with it and she said she did not have any but would have to go get some so I waited and waited as I watched her just totally ignoring my request and going over to talk with other people and walking directly in front of me several times with zero mention of my orange slices. I finally had to loudly ask her where the orange slices were and she rudely commented she was going to get them while only going back to talking to other people. When she came past again I told her I wanted to speak to a manager and this wanna-be manager came over a couple minutes later to speak to us. I told him about the situation and his reply was "well we are busy" in a very rude tone. I further explained that it took her several minutes or more before she even acknowledged us and that was not acceptable. His next reply in another rude manner - " well what do you want me to do about it". At this point we left and took our money to a better restaurant with EXCEPTIONAL wait staff and an UNBELIEVABLY attentive TOP NOTCH bartender that got a huge cash tip for actually doing his job. There is zero excuse for this type of service and attitude as this is the Make it or Break it for the dining experience and this wanna-be bartender and manager would be better fitted in the back washing dishes so they don't ruin it for anyone else. As for my family and I, we will NEVER go back to Joe Taco in Canyon TX due to these two people. read more

Fairly new place with some great tacos. We just stopped in to try the tacos and ended up splitting some brisket "Truck Tacos". Corn tortillas were sprinkled with melted cheese then layered with brisket, cilantro and onions. Really great. The complimentary chips were really good, too. I'm from a different town and this was my first time here. My girlfriend and I walked inside and we were greeted by a host who told us we could sit anywhere and order drinks at the bar outside. When I went to do so, we were told by the bartender that they weren't going to serve us, as it was five till closing. Now I'm not the type to put pressure on people and expect a full meal within five minutes. That's absurd. I didn't know the restaurant closes at nine as it was my first time and I must have missed the hours if they were posted outside. I was just excited to try a new restaurant. Apparently the host was lacking common courtesy by not informing us of this. That's why I am giving a one star rating. Tell us you are closing if you are closing, don't be a sarcastic jerkoff and tell us we can order when we obviously can't. Never going back here. read more

What Tex Mex Should Be Another good restaurant for the Canyon downtown area. Located on the north west corner of the town square. Drove over to Canyon for a late lunch and found a good one. Since it was late we had no problem parking or getting a table. Atmosphere is very casual and relaxing, they also have a nice outside patio which is dog friendly. This is a local clientele type place definitely not full of tourist. Once seated service was efficient and courteous. Menu has excellent variety of Mexican items. I was fortunate to still order from the lunch menu. I had the Crispy Chicken Quesadillas. My spouse had the David Special. Portions were just the right size and price reasonable. Quality was good and tasty. Would order both items again. There is some free parking in front and on the side. Also a city free lot about half block down the street. In all good Tex Mex!! read more

Honestly some of the best Mexican food in this part of the state. We were visiting Canyon and liked the vibe of this place. My daughter had the brisket nachos and they were insanely good. The brisket was tender and flavorful. The serving size was huge so we all got to share. My husband and I shared the fajitas and they were so good. The server was so friendly and gave us a lot of information to help us make our choices. I wish we had some drinks but now we have a reason to go back. This location is very hit or miss. The quality is missing that is for sure. The curbside employees are definitely lazy and basicly beg you to not use curbside. The sour cream sauce is lumpy and cuddled... Never order the ribeye it is a horrible cut. The red sauce is so salty and thick it is prob two weeks old. The only item that is consistent is the Taco Tour and it is really hard to mess up something as simple as a taco. Just passing through and I always look to Yelp in new areas with my work travel. The chips and salsa are unique (to me, not being from Texas) and delicious, with a dusting of a chili powder. While the powder is uneven, it was a great flavor, and their chips were delicious. The Truck Tacos were fantastic! Slightly crisped tortillas with fantastic meat choices (I had the marinated beef, Mexican brisket, and chile roasted chicken). Everything about these was phenomenal. The rice was cooked just right, and the beans (I usually dislike this type of beans) were rich and flavorful, which was a pleasant change for me, as I don't often eat them. We almost finished the whole blown before our food made it out ‍ I had the Barrio Burrito with brisket and poblanos sour cream sauce. The brisket was so delicious!! It wasn't tough or fatty but it fell apart easily with my fork. And they really filled up the burrito! The sauce was good but I did ask for some spice salsa to balance out the cream.
