David special - stuffed sopapillas
Tasha R.

Came in late after driving in from out of town and was able to get a table quickly and was served complimentary chips and salsa. I devoured the salsa myself, and they were kind enough to bring more when I ordered my meal. I knock off a star because the food isn't like typical Mexican or New Mexican taste. As a native New Mexican, I was excited to see staffed sopapillas on the menu and had to try it. I had the David's special with both skinny meats, the beef and chicken. Neither one of them was spicy, but they both had good flavor with the peppers and onion more like a fajita flavor. I had it with beans and "papas" come to my surprise the papa's was mashed potatoes. This was very odd to me, but I didn't hate it. It had a good flavor but a bit unexpected and weird to have with my meal. Overall, the food was good but not typical Mex or New Mex more of a TexMex fusion, in my opinion. I would come again to try other menu items and given the good service and prices. I also had enough leftover for the next day to have breakfast, which is always a plus and nice to enjoy for another meal.

Yum! Well coming from the north east I don't spend a lot of time in Tex-Mex restaurants because there's not a lot of them! Hotel recommended Chuy's but I always try to do local Found Joe Taco of course on yelp so gave it a try. Loved my food. Had Daces Speciall (recommended by Matty the bartender) two sopapillas topped with your spicy meat & cheese, covered with green chile & queso sauce, served with rice & beans, topped with pico de gallo

This will be a fond memory for years to come! This was the first pet friendly restaurant our boy Klaus visited. What a perfect first! They were so friendly and all the workers came out to meet him! The outdoor patio was fun on such a beautiful evening, even if it was a little windy! The food was also excellent. Everything tasted fresh and was priced right! Thank you for a truly special memory!

Just passed here 10/13/24 doing our road trip. The Manager was nice enough to do our request since it's not on their menu. Server was so sweet and nice. Food was excellent and portion is good as well as the price. Nice ambiance and good selection of menu. I highly recommend this Resto!!

We were brought individual flights of salsa to go with the chips. My michelada hit the spot. Was it the best? No. But it scratched the itch. I couldn't decide on what to eat. Until I saw green chili stew and asado. I moved away from Midland in 2015. You don't really find asado away from West Texas. The music wasn't too loud and the lighting wasn't too bright or too dim. Overall, we enjoyed our meals. I'll likely stop back in the next time I'm in town.

We ordered queso and they brought us a little cup because they were out and said they weren't going to charge us for it. We ordered our food and it took forever to get to our table and both of our dishes were cold. We advised the manager that it was taking a long time and she said fish tacos do take a while, but they were also cold. When I told her my food was cold, she took my plate and said I guess you want me to take this from you, asked my friend how her food was. My friend said OK but my tacos are cold and she said she'll comp her meal and then I was brought a ticket for just drinks. No offer to fix anything or get us hot food. The waitress even said they put the avocado on the wrong plate but didn't offer to fix it. I will not go back

I took the advice of my server and went with a pollo dish covered in a spicy shrimp cream sauce. Salsa and guacamole with chips. The icing was a housemate margarita. There were two other tables with two people each that left shortly after my table of three arrived. Ordered our drinks and it took 57 minutes to get them. The bartender actually noticed that we had been sitting there without anything and he brought them over even though he was not our server. Our server did not understand English, and we kept having to use our phones to translate so we could communicate with her. We asked for appetizers that we never got, yet were on the bill. Our food came out 98 minutes after arriving, and again the bartender was the one that was serving us. The female server sat at an empty table on her telephone the entire time. When I asked for the bill, she didn't understand me and had to get a coworker to actually print out our bill. I tipped-out the bartender because he's the one that actually provided us our service. When I checked my credit card statement the next day she had given herself a $10 tip even though I had lined through it on the receipt. I immediately called the Amarillo Police Department to file police a eport for theft, and I did a fraud against my credit card with my bank. I explained to the Amarillo Police Department what happened, and sent them copies of my receipt and the receipt that I had left for her. The APD attempted to contact Braceros management. Every time the detective called he was told that the manager was not in the office and that they did not know when he would be in the office. At my insistence, the detective went to Braceros and asked for the manager and watched the manager walk away and had his employees say that he was not available. Management was absolutely refusing to speak to the police. When APD asked the employee about my waitress, because her name was on my receipt, the Braceros employee said oh I don't know who that is. So the detectives couldn't even talk to the waitress. They sent the detectives two more times attempting to talk to management and they refused to talk to them. Another 1000% sure management is in on this scam. I filed a complaint with the local Chamber of Commerce and come to find out, Braceros is known for this and there are banks in the Amarillo area that will not honor any charges on their credit or debit cards at Braceros restaurants. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!

Visiting my girlfriend and her family in Amarillo led me to trying some of their favorite places in…read morethe city. My girlfriend's mom was especially excited to take me to El Tejaven while I was visiting. This dinner was a celebration of my girlfriend's sister playing in the top All-Region orchestra. It has nothing to do with the food itself, but I want to mention it because she did a great job performing and I think it deserves to be remembered here. It is the reason we went in the first place. It was a busy night at El Tejaven before we arrived. A group of 32 was just wrapping up dinner. Thirty two people. At that point, just cater, dawg. It took about 20 minutes after arrival to get seated, but it likely would have been much quicker if it were not for a group that size. Once we were seated, we were served chips and salsa. The salsa was spicier than I was prepared for, but it was good. The chips were excellent as well. Most people at the table ordered margaritas on the rocks, while I got a dressed Dos Equis on draft. From what I tasted, the margaritas were solid. For appetizers, we ordered the small queso and the small ceviche. The queso was standard but good. The ceviche, on the other hand, was exceptional. I could have eaten a large bowl by myself. I was pretty hungry, so I ordered the Orden de Tacos, which comes with four tacos on corn tortillas. I got all of them with al pastor. I also added a side of rice and beans, which normally comes with the three taco order but can be added on for the four tacos. The tacos were very good and exactly what you want from street style al pastor, especially with the cilantro and onions. It comes out to roughly four dollars per taco if you do the math. The rice and beans were both great and I ate all of it easily. The plate also came with a side of guacamole that had a nice kick, which I enjoyed. Living in Austin with family in San Antonio, it is easy to find good and authentic Mexican food. That does not always seem to be the case in Amarillo, so it is nice to know there is at least one spot in the city that feels authentic and not overly gringoified. My girlfriend's family knows ball.
