The Wagners are very honest about timetables and costs. They are good about telling you what various options you have for parts, types of repairs, etc so you understand what the opportunity costs are with respect to time, money, convenience, and quality. They are also very responsive about looping customers in on communication with the insurance companies. I appreciated that the Wagners were willing to explain auto body 101 concepts to me -- they are humble and there is no talking down or condescension when repairs/car issues are being explained. On sort of a side note, by talking to Rob I learned a lot about car bodies and just generally got some bigger picture insight into car repairs, the insurance industry, and supply chain issues. The Wagners just come across as being very decent and thoughtful guys. And not least of all, the quality of the repair is fantastic. The car looks like new and feels new. I drove my vehicle to them for an inspection, and afterward I was given only two options: either pay to have my vehicle TOWED at my own expense, or spend thousands of dollars on repairs with them. The reason my vehicle could no longer be driven was because they broke a part of the brake system while working on it. What was even more unbelievable was that they refused to accept responsibility for the damage. I simply asked them to fix the part they had broken and return my vehicle to me in safe, drivable condition. They eventually repaired it, but I was still charged for the repair of the part that they had broken. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend staying away from this place. I also find many of the positive reviews difficult to reconcile with my experience.

I made it clear to him that I was very interested, including adding it to my insurance, calling the notary to verify they were open. Called him back to say all was good and that I was on my way. He told me not too come until after 1 as the car was buried under snow and ice. I made it very clear I was very interested and driving well over an hour to get there, not to mention setting up a ride to get there. I arrived shortly before 2, walked in and told him I was there to see the car. He said it sold earlier that morning. At this point I'm thinking this guy is pulling my leg, they must have pulled the car inside to clean it off. But nope, instead I got a bunch of attitude that "this stuff happens all the time.". When my girlfriend picked up the car after the repair and drove away she noticed the camera in the mirror didn't work. She went back and asked one of the owners about it and they said "oh yeah, only the dealer can correct that issue, we aren't allowed". He was nothing but rude about it. I called a few days later to further understand why he didn't know up front that they weren't able to complete the job. He acted like they didn't know the mirror needed to be calibrated and basically lied to me that it wasn't known at the time of the estimate. Meanwhile when the vehicle was picked up he acted like they didn't even know. I would not trust them ever again and they don't deserve anyone's business. If i could give them a zero star rating I would but google requires at least 1 star to post comments..

I was surprised when he came back in just under 2 hours and said that the mechanic waited to take their lunch until my car was completed. I was amazed and the price was less than I would expect to pay elsewhere. I have always taken my cars for service here over the past 4 plus years I have lived here even though t is not the closest Chevy/GM dealer to me. I had a horrible experience with another dealership and started looking at other dealerships. That's where McElwain came into play! I was still pretty injured, so I couldn't come in until a few days later, but Tim made me feel at ease. He originally took my call about the Honda I saw online, and when I asked if it had a clean title, he not only texted me the answer, but a picture of the report. I planned on coming in the next day, but due to a change in plans, I was able to come that same day. He answered every text and informed me that he would tell me if the car had been sold, so we wouldn't drive up to find out then. He also let me know the policy on used cars due to how quickly they're moving right now- something that the guy at the other dealership never cared to do. As you can tell by now, I had a bitter taste in my mouth from my previous experience and expected every salesman to be the same. Tim was not. He went above and beyond, and every single person that we encountered was extremely friendly and eager to help. Tim was finishing up with another customer, so another guy pulled the car around. I didn't catch his name, but he was extremely friendly! Once Tim finished up, we took a test drive and all talked on the ride. Not once did I feel pressured into buying. Tim was so personable and laid back, and I got really good vibes from the business and atmosphere which made me purchase me awesome new Honda that day! He was straight forward with pricing and negotiation and it was such a painless process. Matt, the finance guy, was also super friendly and made the paperwork a breeze. He was so welcoming and never pressured me to purchase anything additional. I really appreciate that! For the first time in two weeks following my accident, I finally felt content. I miss my old civic like crazy, but I am so happy with how my experience went that I know I made the best choice by purchasing my car from McElwain.
