With all the feel of a family-run restaurant and scratch-made food, it is well worth the stop. This year, we stopped for pie and brought home a caramel roll. The pie was delicious with a very light, flaky crust. I had the pecan, warmed with ice cream and my bride had the peanut butter pie. Our only complaint was the whipped topping on the PB pie was too sugary. The caramel roll was superb! My better half said it's the closest to her mom's homemade don-don's, a high bar. We both said the caramel roll was better than those sold at Tobies. We are starting to think we may need to make more than one trip each year ...it's worth the 1 hour and 40-minute drive. The place has a beautiful lake view with outdoor seating and the servers are friendly and very attentive. Many of the staff are long-term employees which speaks highly of the management and clientele. We also love the gift shop downstairs. Don't miss out if you have the chance to enjoy the delicious food and support a locally owned restaurant.

Belated Review From Childhood: Best Chimichanga in Moose Lake…read more... So this is a super belated review from a 40 year old's childhood.. lol... We would come here regularly back when this place was brand new and I would devour the chimichanga every time. The service was always family like and back then it was brand new! I visited again a couple years ago as I have not been to Minnesota in over a decade and the food was still good, but they had definitely remodeled a bit! All in all this is a solid place to get a bite in Moose Lake...

Service was excellent! Not only was our server polite, efficient and attentive, but she anticipated all of our needs better than a 5-star restaurant server's expectations. Ambiance is the only downfall here, but is on par with any other family restaurant up north. I would happily deal with the outdated backwoods decor and slightly dusty window shades if they can keep their prices this low! Get the prime rib steak dinner if you can! My steak was perfectly prepared medium rare as ordered, and it had a nice crispy char on both sides. I highly recommend the side salad because it had the best croutons with a light and buttery crispy crunch like a baked croissant. I opted for a loaded baked potato for a dollar upcharge and was very happy with the amount of bacon, sour cream and butter that was added to my baked potato.

The service was bad to begin with but the server became especially rude when I pointed out the raw bacon that she served me. The previous visit was for lunch and the food was subpar at best. My other main complaint is the ambiance - it is always EXTREMELY loud, I'm not sure if it's the acoustics or the crowd of 80+-yr-olds that are always there but you literally cannot even have a conversation with others at your table.

Then you see the same server refilling drinks for large tables and talking with large tables. The water is HORRIBLE it's disgusting well water that tastes like a dirty rain boot. Then the same bartender comes by to get our food orders but he had to ask if a server has actually seen us yet and apologizing for the wait. He takes our orders and now as I'm writing the review I've waited for the food for over 30 minutes. Ridiculous place with horrible service, food and dirty atmosphere. Would never recommend.

Sweet potato was the best part of the meal! The fish represented as fantastic. It tasted incredibly fishing! Not typical Walleye.
