joe jackson's is a little ice cream parlour just off the diamond in derry city centre, opposite the richmond centre and a minutes walk away from foyleside.
Their icecream is known to be premium and good quality, so it is more on the expensive side, ranging from £2.50 - £5.50.
They have a range of things to choose from, scooped and whipped ice cream, crepes or milkshakes, perfect for a fun family treat.
The staff are friendly and generous with their scoops, and the shop itself is usually quiet, with enough seating to fit a decent amount of people.
The reason I am not giving Joe Jackson's a higher rating is because I cannot say they are accommodating to all types of people. I do not believe any of their ice cream options were lactose free, and they recently switched from plastic tubs to tubs made from a cone like biscuit, which contains gluten, not suitable for someone who is coeliac for example. Also, there was no attempt to avoid cross contamination after the request for a plastic tub was made clear. read more
