I had the short stack of pancakes and they were way overcooked and dried out. It was like they cooked the pancakes, put them on a plate, and then cooked them again quickly when they were ordered. Even my back bacon was burnt, yet that was the best part of the breakfast. The maple "flavored" syrup was not good either. Since you order at the counter, and don't have a waitress to discuss your food quality with, you don't have a normal way to ask for your food to be remade like you would at a normal diner in the U.S. I don't like the order at the counter setup unless it's a fast food restaurant and I typically avoid those. Overall a big vacation breakfast let down. I wish I would have went to Awaken, like I was originally intending on doing. read more

Since our group split up on the way back to the bus from Giant's Causeway, I went straight to the bus thinking everyone would be there. Then one of my friends came on the bus with some rum raisin ice cream in a cone and said she was shouting my name, but I couldn't hear her. It was too late to check out the ice cream shop, but luckily my friend got me a mint chip ice cream on a cone as well, so I was very happy. We even texted her to get me something with chocolate, but they didn't receive it until later on LOL. I tried their sea salt and honeycomb ice cream as well and all flavors were delicious! I'm glad I got to experience Morelli's ice cream instead of watching everyone else enjoy theirs. :P read more

I thought we had already found the best take away ice cream shop in Portstewart but how wrong I was. Morellis is without doubt the ice cream king on this pretty little promenade. The range of flavours is just fab - Ferrero Rocher, Oreo, banana, Maltesers - all lush but for me the number one choice is the Snickers flavour. Oh my stars, the Snickers ice cream is almost too good. Sweet but salty, salty but sweet, it gets me every time. Number two son tells me that the bubblegum and Belgian chocolate are also tip top but I can't be swayed from my Snickers. You can have a tub or a cone and for me it's got to be a chocolate waffle cone. And as I always eat my ice cream while walking long, the calories don't count. Perfect. Morellis also sells cold drinks and some traditional but not tacky souvenir sweeties like Portstwart rock but for me it's all about the ice cream. Waffle cones for four will set you back about £7 so it's more expensive than treating everyone to a Captain Quencher but as Cheryl Cole says, you're so worth it. read more

Morelli's is one of the oldest, most famous ice cream bars in Ireland. This branch is an old family run business based on Portstewart Promenade. It first opened here in 1911! It's incredibly popular in Summer time, as throngs as families and kids flock around the area. No wonder it's so popular, have you seen their ice creams? Wow they are impressive. Taste good too! It can often be pricey but it's totally worth it, even just for the experience. They sell a range of hot food including Ulster frys, burgers, eggs, omelettes, soda etc. Plus their sides of mushrooms are great . They also offer a take away facility. A trip to Portstewart must always include a trip to Morelli's. Sit back, relax and take in those gorgeous views while you wolf down your ice cream. Good times! read more

Wide range of flavours from the old stalwarts of honeycomb and raspberry ripple to the more adventurous ferrero rocher and snickers- all of the above four are delicious. No visit to the North Coast would be complete without a visit to the long established and award winning Morelli's on the Promenade in Portstewart so on a very grey May Sunday morning we find ourselves doing just that. Morelli's is more than just an Icecream shop as the brunch menu would indicate but we were here for the icecream alone. It really is delicious and you are completely spoiled for choice with everything from a delicious creamy vanilla to an ott tiramisu concoction for adults only! We opted for a couple of scoops of the special Dime bar crunch, strawberry, and a classic double vanilla all of which were deemed to be gorgeous and promptly inhaled! The shop seemed busy but there was no queue and plenty of friendly attentive staff. I will definitely return to sample one of their famous Knickerbocker Glory sundae or belgian waffles. There are a lot of roadworks in the town at the moment and I think the prom will look amazing when complete but it makes parking a bit problematic so we parked up the road a bit and walked. It was early enough in the day but I imagine later it could be hectic . Verdict? Well worth a visit! read more

I had my first espresso drink here when I was five or six. One of my most favorite places in Northern Ireland. Phenomenal food and drink at, I think, fairly reasonable prices. (Pounds confuse this Yank, no way around that) Simply the best. read more
