I took my car in for the scheduled maintenance and started talking to my salesman I worked with before on options for when my lease was coming up. I had no intention of getting into something new now but after test driving and making sure it worked within my budget, that's what happened. I ended up in a new lease for only a couple dollars more a month in something that was a little bit bigger for the family but also more efficient. I am looking at my past review from here and I am writing this one week short of two years since my last review, which makes sense! My grandfather Fred Dirr, who is currently in his early 80's and has been a customer at Joe Basil for years, had a harrowing and rather expensive experience with their service department this past month. On September 18th he had noticed as he pulled his 2019 Chevy Trax out of his garage that there was a small oil leak with droplets on the garage floor. The next day my grandfather took the car to Joe Basil for them to check it out and to fix the issue. Service department said we're going to run dye through it and to come back next week. My grandfather comes back to Basil on September 25th and with no prior notice from the dealer during their tests and to inform him of anything, claimed that there was oil leaking all over the place and that several parts underneath need to be fixed. They said the cost for the repair would be $2300 with parts/labor. So my grandfather paid it in cash and they said that the problem would be resolved. My grandfather took the car back that day and just to see if they had fixed the problem, slid a piece of cardboard under the spot where the leak originated for the day and would inspect it the next morning. The next morning he went to the garage and there was more leakage than it was at the beginning, even though he just paid $2300 to get this issue resolved. He goes back to the dealer that day the service department claimed that "When you fix something in that area, it gets pressurized and leaks begin elsewhere." So they tell him this what needs to be done to remedy the issue and the cost for this repair would be $427.35 parts/labor. So my grandfather, trusting that he is, paid with a credit card and took the car home after service worked on it again. He decides to not drive the vehicle for the weekend and again slid a piece of cardboard under the spot and see if would continue to leak oil. This time however when he removed the cardboard, the leaking continued and this time it was anti-freeze. He then takes a look under the car and sees that part 409 was dinged and that there was a screw missing when it wasn't prior to the first service. He goes back to Basil to complain that he has paid nearly $2800 to fix a small oil leak and the issue still hasn't been resolved. Service department takes the car in again and then says he now has leakage on the front side and that the cost to get THAT fixed would be $1500. My grandfather decides to deny the service offered, given that he has already taken the car in twice and they still have not taken care of the issue, and proceeds to take the car home. When he complained to management, they tell him that they can give him $300 off and have the repair be $1100. For droplets of oil coming down from the car, would take 3 visits to the service center and an estimated $4000 my grandfather would have to pay for one small oil leak and then antifreeze AFTER he got his car back the second time. Do you think that makes sense? Including the fact that part of the car was dinged and a screw went missing after he picked it up. My grandfather in an honest man who does a lot of good, loves his cars and the mechanics who ply their trade in fixing them. I feel that he was taken advantage of and it is incredibly disappointing that a well-known dealership in Western New York in Joe Basil, essentially made promises they could not keep in terms of fixing his vehicle and continued to try and charge my grandfather each time he came back to show that the repair they were in charge of fixing wasn't resolved. To the management who will see this review, I would like you to get in contact with Fred and myself and to offer back the money he spent to fix an issue that your service department was responsible in handling. I had an appointment scheduled with someone named Ken, but when I arrived, I was shuffled off to someone else without any real explanation. After that, I sat around for a long time while they "searched their inventory"--something that should've already been prepared before I even showed up. Eventually, they showed me a car that I genuinely liked. I took it for a test drive and was strongly considering it. But the moment I returned, I was suddenly told that the car had just been sold--conveniently, while I was out driving it. That's when things started to feel suspicious. Then came the bait and switch. They immediately presented another vehicle, a slightly newer model that had clearly been sitting out front the entire time. But the car smelled awful--like dog urine and feces--and when I checked under the hood, the engine had a noticeable ticking sound. It was obvious they were trying to get rid of a problem vehicle and assumed I wouldn't notice. I came in ready to buy, with good credit and a clear idea of what I wanted. I needed a new car as mine was no longer up to par, and a friend of mine recommended Joe Basil. First, the sale, I feel like they didn't really try to get me a great deal. It was suggested I try a discount code from GM, but that didn't work for me, so they didn't do much in the way of fighting for my deal. Anyhow, we had a 3:30 appt to get the car. Car wasn't ready and we had to wait an hour. We picked up the car on a Fri, and by Tues, the check engine light came on. I went in and talked to Jacob in Sales as I had worked with him, he sent me to Service who were closed, but I assumed he would let them know I was coming, wrong. So I get out and walk into service. They can't help me as they are closed, but they scan the car to see the error message. I am told it's an O2 sensor on the exhaust. I ask if the car is still safe to drive and I was told it was. He tells me to bring it back tomorrow and he'll get in. I asked for the rust undercoating to be done as well since it wasn't prior to pickup and we paid for it already. He made sure that was taken care of too. Next day, I get a fully electric rental and so I ask, can I charge this in any regular outlet which I am told yes. The next day, I get a call the rust coating is done and I ask if the check engine light issue was taken care of, they tell me service will call. They call and tell me it's off and fixed but they want to keep it one more day to do some further testing so I said okay. I am told I will get a call in the AM. I finally call at 2. I am told they have tested it and are confident it's good to go. I pick it up, I don't even get all the way home (I live 15 mins away) and the check engine light comes back on, which makes me wonder how it was tested. I go back, I'm told I am the FOURTH person to have to come back today. Since this was Fri, I have to wait until Mon. No one calls me Monday, I have to call. I'm told the actual issue is a fuel injector. It's fixable but they have to overnight the parts. I tell them that I can't charge the rental car, can I get a different rental. They have no others, but I am told I can change the amperage to the outlet in my house to charge the car..... Again, I don't get a call next day. At 3 we finally talk and again they are confident it's fixed. I ask if they can at least top off my gas, since I haven't been the one driving it, if I hadn't asked nothing would have been offered. I reach out to a manager to explain all this, and I get a call back from Rob. He apologizes, claims this won't fall on deaf ears, and offers a couple free oil changes that he will mail. As of today, this was a month and a half ago and I have not heard back nor gotten anything in the mail, so it seems it did fall on deaf ears. I feel the whole thing could've been handled better and I feel customer service here is bare minimum at best. They said nothing is covered under warranty and the bill was $1150 and labor alone was $947.It was dropped off at 9am to figure out what was wrong and picked up before 3pm. My daughter bought a car with 13K miles on it, drove it to Florida and the rear axel came loose. When I brought this to the attention of the Basil dealership, they claim they cannot do anything about it. The warranty which is only 3,ooo mile for which she has only put 2900 miles on it apparently does not cover this faulty part that left their facility. I plan on taking legal action and will never buy from them again. BTW - we are talking about a $354 bill. If i could post a picture, you would be able to see how rusted this part is. They were both very nice and got me exactly what I wanted which blew my mind with the state of things during the pandemic and the shortage of cars and stopping production on certain vehicles, including the one I wanted. But they had it on its way and it's now mine. Andrew also took the time to show me the features on my car so when I left the dealership I was all set up and ready to drive and understood the features of my car. Justin did the financing and offered us the additional coverage you can get for the vehicle in addition to the warranty. He was good at explaining what everything was and breaking down the prices. I understood that but, they did not give me any forwarding or chance to review paperwork. They were supposed to email me the contract and papers for two weeks! My 80 year mother took her car here for an NYS inspection and Oil change. The car has just over 10000 miles. The bill came out to over 160.00. They did the oil change and inspection but added a fuel system service and a tire rotation which she says she did not ask for. She is very upset because she is on a fixed income. When she told them that she did not ask for the add-ons they told her that she needed them. Nice way to stick it to the elderly. She gets her cars from here. Well not anymore. BASIL CAN STICK IT! One star for the sake of posting a review. This place has the absolute and total worst customer service I have ever encountered. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away. We (er my daughter with me as the co-signer) purchased a used Nissan Juke from this location, first dealing with a super pushy salesperson. In such a hurry to get the sale by the end of the day, he wanted to write down my daughter's debit card number, so he could charge her down-payment the next day, and then give her a receipt when she came back, instead of having us come back when the cashier would be open and we would be able to complete the down-payment, get a receipt, and leave with a vehicle. Who does something like that? He got really offended when I stepped in and told her not to give it to him because there would be no safeguard in place for her money. Prior to deciding on a car, he continuously brought us around to see cars well above the price point or max miles we requested; we searched the website ourselves from the parking lot, and found a couple that my daughter could afford and essentially did it all by ourselves. This salesperson made us both so uncomfortable that I had to ask to work with someone else to finalize the deal. This was my young adult daughter's first car buying experience, and she really wanted this cute little car, but what a disappointment. After haggling with finance we also purchased an extended bumper to bumper warranty with $100 deductible for repairs, and were assured a dozen times that she could bring it back to be worked on if needed, and bring it in for the regular maintenance, etc. Fast forward a couple of months, the car is really acting up. My daughter brings it to Joe Basil, they "can't find" a problem, fix nothing, and send her away -$100. She brings it back in a week, describes the same issues, they can't find a problem and suggest she take it to a Nissan dealer -$100. The car starts stalling out as she's driving the very next day, she brings it in to service and calls me on the phone in tears while a Basil employee, "Jake" is audibly yelling at her in the background. I can hear him berating her, "you're going to pay $100 for every single issue, it's stalling, that's $100, it's making a noise, that's $100... we're a Chevy dealer, we don't work on Nissan! We are going to send it to Nissan and it's going to be at least a week!" I could tell he was really trying to scare her off. When I told her to ask why we were told we could bring it there for service if they don't service this type of car, his exact words were "they'll tell you anything to make a sale!" She told him she can't drive it home because it stalls, so send it where you have to send it. Ultimately, she left and came home extremely upset, with a loaner car that Jake also insisted wouldn't be covered by her warranty (it was.) We went back together the next day to get some personal items out of her car, at which time I got to meet Jake in person and repay some of the treatment I listened to him give my daughter the previous day. He told me he never yelled at her, and my head exploded. I was on the phone listening in real time while he yelled at her, and then he implies she's a liar too?! Oh, I think the eff not. Jake slinked away to bring the car around to us, and it wouldn't even start for him. The following day he called my daughter personally to apologize. I assumed someone slapped his hand after the entire place heard me going off about him yelling at my kid and the poor customer service we receive from this place. This car was actually broken more than it wasn't, and the place we bought it from was simply no help. This relationship just couldn't work. Needless to say, we recently traded in the piece of junk Nissan with a different dealer, and will never, EVER do business with Joe Basil again. We thought we were free of them, but now we have a problem regarding the extended warranty we purchased from them. We paid for the entire warranty, but didn't keep the car for the entire coverage period. We have either 4 years of warranty left to transfer to her new car, or should receive a refund for the 4 remaining years of coverage. The fine print briefly outlines the options, but Smart Auto Care (the warranty company) explained that they are the third party, and that we need to arrange transfer/ refund through- you guessed it, Joe Basil Chevrolet via the finance department. My daughter and both I have been calling, leaving voice messages, and sending emails for over a week, it's seemingly wasted effort. Switchboard is friendly, they transfer us right to the finance department, but then no one there answers or returns calls. We got one email response (from Jake, of all people) that the finance dept was closed, but he would forward the message to them, that was days ago, no one ever got back to us. I just replaced the brakes this week after I have only driven it 5k. The pads were original factory and down to metal. And of course, when I called service they won't do anything about it. I recently purchased a used vehicle from Joe Basil in Depew. While negotiating I was low balled on my trade-in, agreed upon a 2% finance interest rate and was told my engine had complete lifetime repair coverage. This was all confirmed and concluded in front of the salesman, the manager and supervisor. When I went in the next day to meet with the financier (deal closer) I was told my engine did not have coverage on repair and that I should not have been told that. I was also told that my 2% interest rate was now 2.45% and was told that they should not have promised me that also. Lastly, near the closing of this business deal I was asked if I wanted to purchase an extended warranty with a company they represent. brought my truck in following a minor accident on 11/18/21. Upon getting an estimate and getting it approved via my insurance I dropped off my vehicle to be repaired. I was told it would be 3-4 days and was thrilled due to it being Thanksgiving week the following week and I had to travel out of state. After the 4 days had passed I called to see when I could pick up my truck and was told it was not done and that it would be ready the following week due to the holiday. I expressed my concern due to not having rental insurance and needing the vehicle for work, not to mention I was now in a bad situation having planned on having my truck to go out of state the following day. I scrambled, got a rental ($500) out of pocket and made due. The week came and went and I had heard nothing from the shop. I called the day before I had to return my rental only to be told that they were still waiting on a part and it wouldn't be done until the following week. I understand when issues come up and delays happen but there was ZERO communication. Now I am again left scrambling as I unfortunately could not afford to keep the rental further. It is the holiday season and this was already really setting me back with my plans for buying gifts. I was able to make things work with my job and get back and forth during this week. This week comes and goes and I call again as I had not heard from the shop and again was told it was not ready. And this time they couldn't give me a timeframe due to the tech not being there. I asked to be called with a timeframe when they get it. Nobody ever called. I called again days later to inquire again. And was again told "by the end of the week". End of the week comes. I hear nothing so I call. They tell me it's still needs to be detailed so it would be ready "early next week". At this point I as for what the balance will be as I have heard nothing from the shop and am now worried it might be more than I was expecting. I'm told they can't do that until it's done being detailed. This is now a full month done by with zero communication from the shop. Zero apologies for the series of delays. Additionally during this month long period there would be times when I could not reach anyone at the collision shop even if I called 12-15 times. Had several messages I left never returned. Received conflicting information from different people there. Which tells me there is a severe lack of communication internally as well. I finally get my truck back Thursday morning (it was done Wednesday evening). I pick it up. The work was done perfectly. The staff I dealt with was always friendly and courteous. It is just very unfortunate the lack of communication. The lack of empathy and indifference to how this ridiculously long delay impacted my life and my ability to work and do the most basic of tasks for my kids. I have had many services done by Joe Basil. I go to them for 95% of my service needs and have spent more money than I care to admit. But I will likely never return here for service based on this experience and I would be hard pressed to ever recommend anyone go to them for a collision related service. Peoples ability to plan around these types of delays all depends on the amount of time they are given to plan. When you are continuously being given false information and never updated when delays occur, that makes it impossible to plan. I hope in the future you take more care with the way you communicate with your customers because for me this was an extremely hard month, that in the end I didn't even receive a simple apology for the delay. read more

I signed and processed the paperwork to finance a used car with the Joe Basil Chevrolet dealership. Communication wasn't good from the start. It had got to the point to where I even called my bank to see if it was too late for me to cancel everything seeing as I decided to finance. Some employees at the dealership made me feel as if I was a bother and their attitudes were not the most pleasant. I was notified by my bank that it was in fact, too late to scrap the entire deal. The day started at around 2PM and I wasn't home until after7:30PM (still without my car). After more miscommunication I went into the dealership, having to call them instead of being called, to pick up my paperwork and be transported to the DMV to pick up my plates. I had special ARMY Veteran plates stored already. Long story short I had dealer plates on my car (that I have now signed paid for) and I get to the DMV to find out the Title paperwork was not signed, and the Transaction Receipt was not properly filled out so I could not retrieve my plates. The associate following me to the DMV had left before I knew he arrived, and what I did not realize was that he took the dealer plates with him. I realize it is not very common for them to deal with customers who already have their own plates so I understood that mistakes could happen sending the paperwork outside the dealership, but I was stranded now with my new car and no plates. So, for about 20 or so minutes I sat in my car parked outside the now closed DMV. in a car I cannot drive. The sales associate comes to put the plates back on and we drive 30 more minutes back to the dealership where they correct the paperwork and say they will give me a rental. I purchased a 2015 Infiniti Q50. The rental I sign for I see is a very old (maybe a 2007) Chevy Impala. At this point I don't care as much because I expect to have my vehicle the next day. The second issue arose when I open the rental door. As you'll see in the pictures it was absolutely filthy. I couldn't sit in it without feeling disgusting. All of this happened after the dealership received a loan from my bank and I myself paid over $5,000 out of pocket and traded in my motorcycle. After much frustration I was deeply disappointed with the level or lack of care I have received from this dealership. As a Veteran, a local University student and just a young woman I was let down on all levels. There were a few individuals my salesperson included who have addressed what they could at their level, took responsibility for what they could and apologized for my experience and helped rectify it in what ways they could at the time. From staying late to detailing the car to coming in on their day off to drop my vehicle off to me, which is appreciated. Actions like these have allowed me to remain calm and not be as frustrated as I would have been without their help, concern and common decency. Eventually after some emails and inquiries were sent out to the local leadership at the dealership, I received a call. They explained that this is not how they conduct business and did apologize for my experience. Their solution to make things as right as they could were offering me their direct contact information, which I appreciate and 2 free oil changes which I won't be accepting for the simple fact that I never want to step foot on a dealership again. read more

When I arrived in 2015 for first lease they rolled out the red carpet for me, when I had a lease deal with West Herr to use as a comparison point. I just received service on my 2020 Trail Boss with a five year, 100,000 mile, bumper to bumper warranty purchased in February from Joe Basil Chevrolet. The radio was not working and my shock was blown. The service representative was dismissive of the issue with my shock, repeatedly, denying that there was an issue with the shock. After 2 days of back-and-forth. the service representative stated the replacement of the shock would not be covered under my warranty. It took 3 days for the radio to be replaced and then was told that I had to pay a $275.00 deductible. After he stated that all of the radios in the Chevys have been having problems. Took a friend to buy a new car...she was preapproved by her credit union $25,000 and I specifically told Bruce this when we arrived. He did not listen and we test drove a vehicle which was $2,000 over her "firm"budget of $25,000 cash. The BEST and He made a gentleman's agreement that the vehicle would work within her price range. When she returned with her dad and trade in "BAM" she needed $2000 to make the deal. They missed an opportunity to make a solid sale...she went to another dealership and purchased her vehicle...I guess they didn't need or want her sale...buyer beware!!! I also asked for a vehicle BETTER or GOOD and he insisted this car would fit her budget. Teachable moment...$25,000 sell is better than a zero sale!!! read more

Very unimpressed with this place. I brought my (brand new) car here for some bodywork after my car was damaged by some debris blowing into my car on a windy night. When I got my car back, there were a couple small black stains on my light grey seats, and my drivers side window makes a screeching sound as it goes up and down. This would not have been my first choice to take my car anyway, but it's the spot my insurance company recommended because they have some kind of partnership. I didn't realize I could have actually taken my car to the dealership that I bought the car from. I will definitely never come back here. The only positive I can report from my experience is that the customer-facing people who work here are pretty nice. read more

Bought a Volkswagen Diesel Passat in January, driver seat heater didn't work and didn't know the AC didn't work until summer. Neither were covered. How was I supposed to know the AC didn't work if it's not hot out? We continue to get an ADblue error that threatens to shut the car off. Taking it somewhere else they are not willing to help at all. read more

I leased from you guys as well the past few years and upon the completion of my lease I was called multiple times by the sales manager pressuring me to come back and get the SAME car at a lesser trim level (LS) for MORE MONEY than my original lease was for and he tried to make me feel like a dick for saying no. I went to lia Honda and got an amazing deal on a better car since you guys don't even make the Cruze anymore and didn't even bother to upgrade the trax. I wouldn't even rate this place a one star but of course I have to click at least one. My car was brought in due to a recall & check engine light being on. They ran the code on the check engine light (charged me for it) told me it was because of the recall. Get the car back and realize the check engine light is still on. Take the car to another Chevrolet dealer, they run the code and say it's because of and EGR valve, which is covered under my emissions warranty. This isn't the first time this place has scammed me. About a year ago, I brought it in for a check engine light being on (another recall) and an inspection. They ran the inspection BEFORE fixing the recall, knowing it would fail. Then tried to tell me it failed because of a license plate light and tried to charge me out of the ASS for the light. I took the car home, fixed the light myself and then had it inspected elsewhere and had no problems. DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS CHEVROLET FOR ANY TYPE OF SERVICES UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY FOR A MILLION OTHER THINGS THEY FIND "WRONG" WITH THE VEHICLE!!! read more

Bought a new truck in 2012 and its still running great. If I take it there for a minor thing they fix it quickly and often with little or no charge. Very comfy waiting area with donuts and coffee on them, fresh popcorn ,apples and sodas too. read more

Brought my 2014 Chevy cruze Or in a month ago. Power steering went, they told me it would be over $1700. To fix. Brought my car home called GM and they covered me half way. The problem is the same the went on the Ls and there was a recall, but because mine is an It it was just short of the recall. Just went back today after getting it back a week ago. My emergency break does light up and doesn't ding. They said it works, but unrelated to what I just had fixed. BULL it worked just fine before it was in basil. I told them to take us off the mailing list because after buying 5 cares and my kids buying cars there. They lost 5 customers. BEWARE!!! read more

Went to look at a new truck this week and they tried telling me my GMS family plan was invalid due to the "high demand" then up and decided that the 55,000 MSRP was not good enough and decided to mark it up 3,000 more due to its "high demand" again went to west herr and Towne and both gave great offers compared to the rip off here. All and all same truck was purchased as I tried buying here for $150 less a month then what they were offering. read more
