I love my hair. I asked for a full highlight and toner. That's what I got…read more However, I was told it would take 2 hours. It took 3 1/2 hours. Then, there was a $50 charge to blow dry my hair. I wasn't told that until I was paying. (Hadn't budgeted for that). I would've dried my hair at home. The chair was short, I am tall, my (very nice) hair dresser was shorter. So, I had to keep scooching down in the chair to get my hair done. I was aching after 3 1/2 hours. Finally, my (still very nice) hairdresser wanted to take photos of my hair. I was fine with this but I didn't really get a choice. Then, she was touching my face and the front of my neck. I wasn't asked if this was okay and I was uncomfortable. I love my hair. They did a great job. I don't think I would go back just because of the service aspect.

Not just any cut (I've been trimming my freakishly long hair for years), I saw Monique Samuels on RHOP with a cute bob and decided that was the hair for me. With newfound conviction that I was a professional hair dresser, I lopped off 6 inches. What? Yes. Confidence. When I found that it was not to my liking, instead of going to an actual professional, I went back in to give myself layers and BANGS. What is wrong with me? Anywho, fast forward a year, my hair had grown out but was long in places it shouldn't be long and short in places I didn't want it to be short. For context the stylist I've been to for years is based in Baltimore and with how traffic can get I can't justify spending 40% of my saturday going to Baltimore to get my hair done. So I began the search looking for a new hairstyle salon. Tried Alexandria, Springfield, even Fairfax. But none have provided what I need and certainly not justifiable of the price it commanded. So I tried HairSocial because I found it on Google and I liked I can book online. My hair appointment consists of the following: Wash, Blow Dry, and an undercut. Sometimes I'll get it flat-ironed depending on the occasion. So I booked 4 days in advance and when I arrived for my appointment I had to wait 20 mins after my actual time (for context it was a Sunday afternoon and no one else was in the shop except for one customer). When I was seated I was only given a haircut and nothing else despite asking for a hair wash and a blowout. Considering I had to put a downpayment online to book the appointment I naturally felt bamboozled. They offered to do what I originally asked but they said I had to wait an hour. I didn't have time as I had a family dinner I had to attend so I decided to go home and wash my own hair. Before I left, the front desk offered to refund me on my card and then said no and could only offer me a credit. The credit was tied to my account yet the credit isn't available when you book online you can only access the credit if you call to set up an appointment. Extremely disappointed but the stylist did a great job with my haircut. I'm just disappointed that I didn't get what I paid for at a reasonable time. Thankfully the management of the loc in Tysons Corner set things right and as a result despite this location being closer to me I go out of my way to visit the HairSocial in Tyson's Corner (that review will be coming shortly).

I've given this salon multiple chances, but my recent experience was deeply upsetting, particularly involving my child. Rocio has repeatedly displayed a cold, dismissive, and visibly irritated demeanor--as if she doesn't want to be there or serve clients at all. During our last visit, I asked her to make a small adjustment to my child's hairstyle. Instead of responding professionally, she yanked my child's hair in a way that caused visible discomfort and left my child in tears. As a parent, witnessing your child cry from pain in what should be a safe, service-oriented environment is absolutely unacceptable. This wasn't an isolated incident. I've noticed this behavior from Rocio on multiple occasions, and it's clear that whatever personal frustrations she's dealing with are being taken out on customers--especially troubling when it involves children. There is no place in any service industry--let alone a salon working with families--for behavior that borders on physical aggression. What happened to my child was not only unprofessional; it was emotionally upsetting and physically painful. Parents, please be cautious when booking services here. I hope the management takes this seriously before someone else gets hurt.

I had searched for pictures of what I was trying to achieve, ( she would have NO clue from looking at all the hair on my head) Upon entering the salon, I noticed all employees were wearing masks and gloves. She took my temperature too. I proceeded to show Lynn the pictures and running my hands through my hair explaining this and that. She asked if she could cut my hair it by spritzing it with water. It would help her get a better feel for my hair. The thickness, the volume, strength and health. Made sense to me....and I had just washed it a few hours before. Very professional and skilled. It was like magic Lynn cut and snipped, and snipped some more. Took out her hair clipper to get it nice and tight by my ear and around the back of my neck. In about 30 minutes it was shaping up looking more to my thoughts and wishes. I wear my hair shorter these days. Asymmetrical too...
