My friend wore the shoes briefly but immediately got painful blisters. They hurt even more when she walked in our home. When she tried to return / exchange them, the manager gave her the worst attitude and talked about having to take a loss! This is definitely not the appropriate behavior of a shop in an upscale shopping area. I don't recommend them at all. Note: There was a salesman who was trying to be helpful prior to the incident with the manager.

She is extremely knowledgable, and answered all of my questions. I explained how tired and sore my feet feel on a daily basis. As a teacher and someone with an active lifestyle, I am on my feet a lot. Minerva helped me try on sevaral orthodics, and about an hour later, I was walking on clouds through the store. She even was able to find a special insert for the occasional "dress up in heels events." I wore some inserts for my workout this morning at the gym, and already I can feel my posture is better and my feet are very happy. She assured me that she will follow up in a few days to see how I am doing, and I believe her. It's not always common to receive this stellar customer service. The products didn't work for us. Instead of honoring their refund commitment, they repeatedly offered variations of inserts and extended the refund timeline until it was past the window for a Visa dispute on the original charge. They then refused to take the product back or return any money. When we escalated, the explanations we received were inconsistent with each other and with what we were originally told. We spent hours out of principle trying to hold them accountable to their word. Their products may work well for others, but they didn't for us, and based on our experience, we felt the company did not honor its commitment. Very disappointing. Buyers beware.

But, to be bluntly transparent about this, even though my activities fit The Columbia Lifestyle, my girth prevents me from fitting most of The Columbia Clothing. Still, some of the garments are more amply proportioned than the marked sizing would suggest, so I have the two sweaters to show for my repeated efforts to find more gear. I nearly bought gloves yesterday, just because they fit. I did buy another pair of Columbia shoes yesterday, though. But from a oligarchy-compliant online retailer, not from the local store in Monterey. Why? Because I was able to try on the right size, though not (for my preferences) in the right color. The right color was available, but not in my size. And special orders are not possible, reportedly, from the local store. So, we funded a little more fuel for the rich man's rocket. But for whatever disappointment there could have been, yesterday's twenty minutes in the Monterey Columbia store was one of the better shopping experiences I've had in quite a while. Even though the eventual sale was clearly going to be made outside the local brick-and-mortar, Store Manager Sam made sure we were able to confirm the right size for the right color so that we could order online (from someone other than Columbia, since the rocket-owner ships to us for free) with relative confidence. We'll be back to see what fits in the future. Make that "the near future." Those gloves were pretty nice.

After a disappointing shopping experience with Men's Wearhouse (described in an earlier review), I…read moreresumed my search for a men's clothing store in the area that offered attentive customer service and a large enough inventory of styles and options for an impending wedding I planned to attend in a little over a week. Park Avenue Styles in Marina had received many positive Yelp reviews, so I thought I'd drop by to see what this store was about and, boy, did I strike gold. I walked in and was immediately greeted by the proprietor, "Fred", who began with some friendly banter before asking what he could help me with. As I described my mission, I could see that Fred was literally sizing me up. His store, though not as "warehousey" large as Men's Wearhouse, was deceptively large and had an impressive collection of suits, Tuxes, shoes and accessories for both sale and rental (as well as casual attire). After understanding my preferences, Fred picked out a couple of very nice vested suits and bow ties for me to consider for purchase. They were spot on in terms of quality, color, price, and size. Fred's eye was uncanny, and my conversation with him while trying on the goodies was both comfortable and entertaining. I also noticed that other customers who wandered into his shop greeted Fred by name and quite obviously were repeat customers. This was a very good sign. Fred presented me with an attractive package I could not resist and even steered me to a tailor in the same vicinity who would perform the alterations. I realized that Fred took tremendous pride in his business and actually enjoyed his job. He was an easy person to like and trust, and I thoroughly enjoyed my shopping experience with him. So, if you are in the market to buy or rent a tux or suit, or just want to pick up some casual pieces, you must check out this little gem of a clothing store in Marina. Whether or not you end up buying, you won't be disappointed with the experience. This is a business that understands clothing and, importantly, excellent customer service. Kudos.
