If you rolled your eyes at this tree, knowing they are not long-lived and tend to be thin, this is partly true. My Hackberry was maybe 8" diameter 20+ years ago, yet it grew into a 5-foot diameter big, happy tree. It shaded half my yard and home. When it's trunk began splitting in early November, I figured it would need a good trim and cabling, come winter. The week before Thanksgiving, the split grew significantly, and I realized it needed immediate attention. Several tree people looked at it, and Mr.Nava had the best approach and expertise. It took him and his team the better part of five days to rig-up and take the whole tree down. He was smiling each morning, and completed his task with reverence. He arrived promptly, talked to us at length about the health of the tree and gave us a fair price to do the trimming. His crew worked carefully and professionally, painting all the cut areas to prevent infection, chipping the smallest branches and cutting the larger pieces into fireplace-size pieces and stacking them. The tree looked great when they finished! We subsequently had them come out again to clear an area between our house and the road which was choked with spindly cedar, hiding a number of large live oak trees. Again they worked in a professional manner and when they finished, four magnificent, unique live oaks were revealed! Our neighbors all stopped and commented on how beautiful they were! Again, any cuts on the oaks were painted, small branches and the cedar chipped and left in a pile for us, and the larger branches were cut and stacked. We just called him this week to come and look at two of our large live oaks because they were not leafing out properly. He diagnosed that tiny, hard-to-see caterpillars were doing the damage. Once they completed their caterpillar stage, they would leave the trees and the trees would regrow their leaves. All we had to do was water and fertilize (with John Dromgoole's Ladybug organic fertilizer) the trees and they would be fine. We were so relieved! He did not charge us for this consultation. We couldn't be more happy with Pat and his crew. He is very "green", extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the trees and their environment, and will talk to you at length about any questions you have. I called the receptionist multiple times over a period of two weeks, but she was not able to get hold of Marcus (the owner) to provide me a schedule. After two weeks of continuous calling, Marcus finally told me that the work has been done. He charged me more than 800 dollars (even with discount), but ironically I couldn't notice the difference of their pruning/trimming service. I requested them to schedule another time to prune my trees. They act promptly and it was scheduled to be the next day. In the end I am feeling better, but the experience working with them is not pleasing. Their management is just terrible. They are not responsive by any means and they over-charge for the work they have done. Don't be deceived by the high review score of this company on Google Review. This company has changed its owner from Patrick to Marcus. Most of the good reviews are from the previous owner's time.

Certified Tree Care, LLC: A Consumer Warning Based on My Experience…read more I hired Certified Tree Care, LLC to remove a diseased American Elm and trim a pecan tree at my home. Unfortunately, the experience resulted in property damage that the company failed to resolve. The job was delayed for weeks, and when a crew finally arrived, the crew leader told me the tree was much larger than they had expected based on the photographs provided before the job. I observed very little protection for the surrounding artificial turf and no protection for the mailbox and stucco wall beneath the work area. During the removal, I specifically raised concerns with the crew leader about the lack of protection. Later that afternoon, a large limb fell and punctured my artificial turf in two locations. The incident was captured by my security camera, and the crew leader acknowledged the damage. Video from another day of the project also shows a limb striking the stucco wall above my mailbox. Initially, I was led to believe the damage would be addressed. The company even sent its own landscaping contractor to inspect the turf. After that inspection, however, I was unable to obtain a resolution despite repeated calls and emails to the employees handling the matter, customer service, and company management. I obtained five written turf estimates from four vendors. All four vendors recommended replacing the damaged 20' × 48' section rather than attempting a visible patch; one vendor provided estimates for both repair options but recommended full replacement. I also obtained an estimate to repair the damaged stucco wall and mailbox. I sent the company a formal demand letter by certified mail and attempted to initiate a liability claim through the insurance producer listed on its Certificate of Insurance. After receiving no resolution, I filed a small-claims lawsuit seeking reimbursement for the documented property damage and related costs and proceeded with repairs at my own expense. I later learned that the company's website identifies the employee who handled my estimate as an "ISA Certified Arborist" and displays certification number TX-4784A. The International Society of Arboriculture informed me that the credential was no longer active, and I submitted a complaint to ISA regarding the company's continued representation of that credential. Accidents can happen. What I find unacceptable is arriving unprepared, failing to adequately protect surrounding property, damaging multiple areas of my property, initially leading me to believe the damage would be addressed, and then failing to resolve the claim despite repeated attempts on my part. After my experience with Certified Tree Care, LLC, I would not trust them with my property and cannot recommend their services.

The by-phone estimate for 43,560 square feet of yard was $100. Within 2 hours of our call, a team of 3 fully equipped lawn ninjas were relayed to our property. Due to the deplorable condition of our yard (lots of 2 foot high weeds - yikes- plus a huge hill to mow & weed-eat), the estimate grew to $175, which we were happy to pay to get the yard back under control. Within 90 minutes after *that*, our huge yard had been completely transformed: all grass cut to golf course specs, 200 ft concrete driveway edged, weed-eating done around 20+ trees and the pool fence, steep hillside trimmed perfectly, cuttings mulched back into the lawn. Holy cow! I am impressed. Your experience may vary, but we were lucky to call on the day for which ALM happened to be in our part of town, so we received same day service. What a relief to find a lawn service that is so prompt, thorough, and reliable. Our neighbors will be happy to know that we will now be on the regular biweekly rotation for ALM.
