I brought my computer in for a specific problem, but it turned out to be a non-issue and a simple fix. As a mildly tech savvy, live-at-hom, 20-something I am basically on call 24/7 to supply my parents…read morewith free tech support. It's pretty mind numbing... "how do I get to facebook?", "This program is asking me if I want to close it out...do I want to close it out?", "Where is the recycle bin?", on and on and on... I've been looking for some kind of way to get out of constantly having to fix really simple issues (Have you tried turning it off and on again?). Weirdly enough I got and email out of the blue around Christmas from Ascentive with an offer for unlimited remote tech support. We have a similar system where I work for the IT people and it's always been really convenient...so I thought It would make a cool Christmas present to give to them. I half expected it would be one of those Indian support companies and that my parents wouldn't be able to understand the people on the other line, but they've had no trouble with them. And the service is actually unlimited. We've had it for like 6 months now and I've haven't been charged and my parents have called the number more than a dozen times for all kinds of things. "Fixing the printer" (new ink cartridge). "Fixing the monitor" (Wire in the back came loose)...The tech guys have been really patient, with my mom especially (I don't envy them at all!). They've been really happy with it...Best Christmas present I've given. (and kind of a gift to myself in a way!)

However, as a blogger on the road who hadn't been able to post I was feeling rather squirrely. Having been referred, and Needing to drive halfway across county the following morning, I felt more comfortable after speaking to the young Russian gentleman with a bob and the business owner (both reassuring me it was a routine procedure), i consented. 90 minutes later I have a phone that stayed turned on overnight and doesnt burn my hand when touched. As for my data problem, the gentleman provided instructions for how to move the data without losing it. After speaking to an Apple tech, who advised I get a new phone because my version 11 phone has only half the capacity of the newer phones out there because "the upgrades require more just to run the phone" and since I can't afford one at the moment, this is the perfect opportunity to learn a new skill ! Thank you, young gentlemen at Mr. Fix!

Now in the garage my speed is about 982 Mbps. AMAZING. It's not just that. he cleaned up all of my wires, tying them together, and it was like better than before he was here.
