Uttke performed a diagnostic and confirmed what I thought all along--the air handler was not cracked, and there was no carbon monoxide leaking into my home. The system was cutting off because I had installed one of those "smart" thermostats that have given homeowners so much trouble. Uttke did show me a good replacement for my furnace when the time came--a mid-range Armstrong furnace. I appreciated their integrity. I went out of my way to purchase AprilAire filters from Uttke because I appreciated how I was treated. Fast forward a couple years and I had moved to Cedarburg and needed two heat pumps. I called Uttke, got an in-person assessment, and a quote. I purchased on the spot and within days I had two heat pumps installed. Uttke was great in terms of communication to make certain the units were placed where I wanted them, and where they would make the most sense. I would recommend Uttke with confidence.

What did I not like? 1) Tech that came to my house spent 2 hours looking at my circuit breaker box and plugging a device into a few of my outlets, talking about a concern with "voltage drop" that might be cause of garage power outage. It wasn't, but he was looking for other services to sell me. Never quoted me for the service I needed done. 2) Supervisor came by 2 hours later to re-inforce the "voltage drop" concern. Gave me a quote. Quote included surge protectors for each circuit box that I did not ask for. After surge protectors removed from quote, it was still $4400 more than the quote of the company I ultimately hired to do the work. Tech and supervisor both got their boss (same guy) on speakerphone to discuss voltage drop concern. Would cost $200+ per outlet to repair and still not guaranteed to resolve voltage drop concern. Very suspect operation. I will never call this company again for anything. If you do, be sure to get multiple quotes from other companies.

They practice a predatory game of high pressure sales combined with a complete lack of price transparency. They will come up with high ticket projects that you must have or else your house will fall apart. It is impossible to determine how they come up with prices for projects because you can't get an itemized price break down for any job. If you ask for an itemized price break-down they tell you everything is in a package. The package has no price break down and does not provide any price transparency. There is no information as to what they charge for parts or labor. This is not common to this industry. In addition, they seem to carry as low on inventory as possible. This low inventory practice makes money for them but causes unnecessary delays in getting jobs done in a timely manner. Weeks can go by while they try and get a part from a vendor in Los Angeles or further away.

Communication was good, I got a text reminder and an email for my appointment. The technician texted when he was on his way and arrived with a partner to do the service. They found my blower capacitor was running at about half power and replaced it for a fee after having me approve it. They are straightforward, respectful, and clean.
