Apologies for the long post but it's a long story.
Overall terrible service. Wanted to get a humidifier installed. Salesperson was competent and nice. Said there were co compatibility issues with my existing system or smart thermostat for the humidifier I wanted to install. All downhill from there. Techs show up to install. They say my thermostat was not compatible. Fine. Put the installation on hold. Bought a better smart thermostat, 300$. Because of budget issues, we waited a couple of months before calling for installation again. In the meantime I find out that my original thermostat was fine all along, completely compatible, techs were incompetent.
Different techs show up for new installation. Mention all that to them, they apologize. They look at my new thermostat and are completely befuddled by it, but they say it should be fine.
They could not complete the installation because they forgot the cable they needed... About a week later they show up to "finish" the installation. I was at work, my wife was home. I come home from work to find that they couldn't get the humidifier to work. They just left. Didn't explain anything. That was a Thursday evening. Friday we did not have a chance to call JM Air. Friday night, the whole system goes. Furnace dead. No heat. This was late February and I have young kids. I call Gaz Métro Plus, they have a tech show up first thing Saturday morning. Took him less than 20 minutes to fix everything. The humidifier techs did not at all wire the system properly and did not put in a transformer for the humidifier so it blew the whole system. Now because the problem was caused not by my system which was covered by Gaz Metro but by another system, the service call cost me 190.46$...
I immediately called JM Air on Monday morning. The next few weeks were an exercise in futility and frustration trying to deal with multiple people at JM Air, none of whom seem to speak to each other since I had to repeat my story MANY times (yet still got a couple of calls asking why I hadn't paid yet), never getting called back as promised, lots of "I have to talk to my boss". All I wanted from the beginning was the cost of the repair I had to pay taken off my invoice of 1500$. That's it. I was ready to pay each and every time I spoke to them but that proved to be too difficult (I should have demanded the cost of the new unnecessary thermostat be deducted as well but that seems to be highly unlikely based of the incompetence I had experienced). One last call, repeated my story AGAIN to someone I had already told it to. Made my request for the repair deduction AGAIN. Was told they would call back later that day after speaking to the boss AGAIN.
That was mid March 2017.
Fast forward to today, July 26 2017. I hadn't heard anything from them at all and I sure as hell wasn't going to waste my time chasing them. I get a voicemail saying my invoice is way past due.... from the very person I had last spoken to in March and several times before. I called back AND HAD TO REMIND HER AGAIN ABOUT THE SITUATION. It took about 3 minutes for her to say that they would deduct the cost of the repair from my invoice.
All around incompetence, terrible company. How they're in business I have no clue.
They do installation service for Costco in the east end of Montreal so heads up if you're thinking about using Costco in Anjou for any heating, cooling, and ventilation installations in that area.
Can't give zero stars or I would. read more
