Guaranteed Industries have installed Lennox HVAC system and maintained it for almost two years…read more First of all, the ducts that are installed, leaked, in some places so severe that it was very cold to be in the area around that leak in the summer. I tried to convince Guaranteed Industries to fix the installation pointing to that leak, but they measured the air speed at the air diffuser and increased the speed of the fan. The leak in the duct I had to seal by myself - wherever I could rich. It still leaks. Before the installation of HVAC my house had very few icicles buildups, but after installing ducts through the attic, the build ups of the icicles increased so dramatically that no house in the neighbourhood has even a close amount of icicles. This winter the system got a shortcut. The technician of Guaranteed Industries charged us about 500$ for the visit and claimed that our thermostat is causing that shortcut and has to be replaced. That was weird because the thermostat was only one year old. We purchased the new one, same model, and that did not solve the problem. The second technician blamed the cable from the thermostat to the HVAC, though that was a brand new cable which Guaranteed Industries installed at the same time when they installed HVAC. That technician told that replacing the cable is a two-man job, with the cost over 100$/hour for each person. I challenged their analysis and reinstalled the thermostat very close to the HVAC connecting it with a short wire. Only after I proved that the cable was not the issue, the technician agreed to look for the shortcut in the HVAC system. He found the shortcut in the heat pump. He fixed that cable, and the system started to work. However, for some reason, it stopped using the heatpump - only the furnace. The technician explained me that my thermostat (Nest 3rd generation) is not compatible with the system, and I have to purchase Lennox thermostat from Guaranteed Industries. That did not make any sense for me either - Nest thermostat worked fine for the first winter, using the furnace only in extremely cold days and otherwise getting the heat from the heat pump. But whatever, I got some heating, and I felt exhausted proving that the technician is wrong. This spring, when temperatures raised above +10C, I noticed that the heat pump is dead - it is not heating nor cooling. The fan was working and the thermostat appeared fully functional. So, I paid for Guaranteed Industries bills and a new thermostat about 1500$, but my heat pump still does not work. This company is unprofessional and dishonest.

The technician came, stayed for 15 minutes or so and simply told me the whole system needs replacement. His diagnostic didn't provide voltages test, whether the indoor motor fan or control board needed replacement. All he wrote was that he was unable to take measurement and that it 'looks' like there are multiple problems. Trying to sell me a new system that's twice what I paid 10 years ago. I regret ever calling them!

He was polite, clear, and easy to talk with. I am surprised to read that other people had "rude and unprofessional" service: perhaps they responded badly when unavoidable problems arose. (It is, after all, frightening when heating goes wrong in a Canadian winter!)
