We checked in at the shop. They were very patient with us as they explained the prices, options etc. Since we were all rooks they said we'd have an instructor help us out and set us up with a larger practice trap stand which had extra bench space. They also offer complementary water which we grabbed on our way to the shooting area. Practice traps are the kind that always shoot in generally the same spot so you don't have to track a sideways moving target. We had a 20ga shotgun which has a smaller recoil. Prices were reasonable. 15/25 traps and then 13/25 ammo, and the gun was 20. Our instructor John met us at the stand. It was a bit of a wait but once he got there he showed us the ropes and hung out with us, helping us out and just being a cool guy. We were there about 1.5 hrs. This was a fantastic experience and im definitely coming back.

The entrance is just to the right of the range. I had a lesson with Brad on drawing from the holster, grip and accuracy ( which was not very good ). Brad was patient and informative and by the end of the lesson my skills were so much better. I was very happy with the 1-1 lesson and I feel more comfortable and accurate. If your going to carry a firearm I believe you really owe it to yourself to be responsible and get trained I highly recommend Proactive Defense

I HIGHLY recommend their courses.

I was very disappointed with my recent experience at Shoot Smart West Freeway…read more Since the range was remodeled, they have removed the flat shooting bench or countertop that used to be in each lane. That surface gave you a safe, convenient place to lay your firearm between loads while keeping it pointed downrange. The only surface available to us was a small Rubbermaid-style cart about three and a half feet tall. This made working with and sighting in long guns extremely awkward and nearly impossible. The range was also uncomfortably hot. An employee explained that the air conditioning was running on high, but the exhaust system that removes gun smoke and fumes also pulls the cooled air out almost as quickly as it enters. I understand the importance of proper ventilation, but the temperature made shooting very uncomfortable. The retail inventory was also ridiculously understocked. I was looking for tinted shooting glasses, magazines for several firearms, speed loaders, and a barrel-cooling fan so I could safely cool my rifle before returning it to its case. They had none of these items. When I asked about the lack of merchandise, an employee told me their inventory manager was not doing a very good job. On the positive side, all the employees were friendly and courteous. The gunsmith was especially helpful and was able to sight in the rifle I had been struggling with very quickly. Unfortunately, friendly employees and a capable gunsmith were not enough to overcome the poor range setup, excessive heat, and severely limited inventory. I will be trying a different shooting range the next time I go shooting.

They were pretty busy, but made it a point to give me the attention I needed to purchase my firearm. Definitely went above and beyond, enabled me to feel comfortable with my purchase, and overall left me satisfied that I didn't go spend the next 3 months looking around. One thing that was great, they understood how people shop on the internet and through word of mouth, so they spoke about all the good and bad, but left the decision up to me. Going back to have them work on my shotgun that I've been disappointed with for years, really hope Steve can work a miracle as the gun has sentimental value, but at the end of the day, if it ruins your hunting experience, then it can just sit on the shelf. Thanks again Defender...I will be coming back.

To my surprise they answered the phone. I was advised by the owners they were still on property and to come on out. Ended up spending over an hour talking to the owners Robert and Jenny, both are great people. Well yesterday, Sunday, Memorial Day weekend I ran out of coffee. I called just by chance to see if they were open. Robert advised they were at the office but were not open. But Robert advised me to come on out. So I'm made the short trip to get my coffee. It's hard to find a company like this in the metroplex that's why it's worth the short drive to Krum Tx to deal with great owners. So if you are looking for Black Rifle coffee, hats, guns, ammo, optics, boots, sunglasses or even Groove silicone rings they have them. So give Gunfighter Supply a try. I ended up with coffee and a new ring.
