Five year update: There is not a day gors by that we don't love the view of our landscaped yard…read more As requested, Trio installed native plants that attract birds, since my hobby is photographing birds. But the result was much more, the variety of flowers, shrubs and trees, (some bearing berries for birds) is the envy of the entire neighborhood. The plants have matured into a planned "painting" of contrasting foliage. My experience is that money spent outside of the house goes further than remodel money spent inside...maybe it is the "alive" thing that plants have. That sounds dumb, but seeing the seasons change in my yard is life affirming. Thanks, Diana. Larry and Helen

I called Trio Landscaping last fall to discuss a landscaping project we needed for our backyard…read more This is a duplex that hasn't had much loving care to the landscape due to it being a rental property. Now that my husband and I, the owners, moved in, we wanted a space that felt "finished", cozy and a place where we would like to hang out. Diana, the owner of Trio Landscaping, was excellent to work with. She spent a lot of time getting a good understanding of our budget and what we wanted before she created a plan and sent it to us. We had several zoom calls discussing the plan and making minor revisions to ensure it met our needs. Her design is spot on for our space. We were out of town the week the construction took place and came back to a completely new backyard! It has transformed the way we spend time in the back yard - hanging out with friends, grilling and just reading and relaxing. I now have a backyard I am proud to show off. The Trio Landscaping team are all top notch professionals! Thank you, Trio Landscaping!

I selected Inspired Landscaping based on Kara's previous very positive review. I have no 2nd…read morethoughts (well, maybe the overall cost but in the end I think it will prove to be of good value). In any case, ~20 years ago my son and I terraced the slope & garden on the East side of my house and installed timber retaining walls. Despite the fact that I used treated lumber the once pristine barriers had begun to deteriorate. I also had started but never finished several other projects. The patio and backyard were getting shabby and overgrown. It was time for a change. Anyone who may have read some of my previous reviews knows about my somewhat recent physical challenges. I'm not exactly a Spring chicken either. A professional job was in order. In addition to choosing Inspired I selected bluestone rock to replace the rotting timbers. The resulting walls and edging look great and the old beams were hauled away. Finished work included river rock and mulch. Gustavo partners with his father and brother to schlep, prepare, install and clean up. Gus was personable and I found him easy to work with. Everything was completed on time and according to neighbors looks: "amazing." Bluestone is not inexpensive. At first I was hesitant to spend so much, especially since I had done much work myself. But I think that in the long run the landscaping/hardscaping will more than pay for itself in providing years of entertaining and peaceful contemplation. Not to mention that it will likely raise the value of my home. If I have any major landscaping additions, I won't hesitate to contact Gus and his crew. Together they are effective, efficient, courteous and meticulous.

I get an email at the start of June saying maybe Fall of 2021!!!! That is over a year and a half Gus! I understand being busy but this was just disrespectful to my time. Overall, completely unreliable and unresponsive.

We hired EDS for a major landscaping project in 2023. One of the main reasons we selected EDS was…read morethe promise of maintenance-free landscaping. We also specifically requested that our existing mature, healthy, and unique trees be preserved. These trees were an important part of our property and provided significant privacy. I was only able to stop the removal partway through the project, but several trees had already been taken out. We were told at the time that the removed trees would be replaced with new plantings that would ultimately provide a better overall appearance and maintain privacy. Unfortunately, this has not been our experience. Many of the replacement trees have struggled to survive, and within a couple of years several have died. We have already had to replace at least four trees at our own expense. In addition, when I reached out to Mark about one of the failing replacement trees, I was initially told that replacing a small pine tree would cost approximately $800. I ultimately purchased a comparable tree from Home Depot for about $70 instead. After this, communication stopped and I did not receive further responses. While the initial sales process and communication were positive, the long-term results have not reflected the premium price we paid. The loss of mature privacy trees, the need for repeated replacements, and the lack of follow-up support have left us disappointed with the overall outcome.

They were up front about having a minimum project cost of $10K. I was willing to pay at least that for work on combination of several gardens around my yard. I took Mark around the yard and told/showed him what I wanted to do. Several weeks later (and much longer than he said it would take), I went to his office to look over his plans. Nothing in the plans had any resemblance to what I told him I wanted. He wanted to rip out all the perennial flower beds that all my neighbors and I love for their year-round color (I even get many compliments even from strangers walking by). His plans replaced them all with "Japanese gardens." He told me he's been doing Japanese gardens for years, but what he wanted to do was, at best, Japanese-inspired gardens because they defied a lot of Japanese garden design principles. I've spent a lot of time studying Japanese gardens, including 2 weeks touring Japanese Gardens in and near Kyoto Japan with Judith Clancy who has written a book on the subject, so I know what is and isn't a Japanese garden. There is much more to Japanese garden design than putting rocks and trees in together. EDS did landscaping for a neighbor a number of years ago. The work in front is lovely, However, in back there are 5 evergreens that looked very nice when planted, but were placed too close to the house and now that they have grown will have to be taken out because the branches are rubbing against the siding and the trees are blocking windows. One of the berms installed and another area also became overrun with European Snow on the Mountain that required Roundup to eradicate it.
