I had Jack do a complete roofing tear off and some masonry work. I waited two years to see how everything was going to last and it couldn't be more perfect. If you want to hire someone and have the ease of mind knowing it will be done right call Jack. I've included pictures after two years. read more

It took me sooo long to find a contractor/mason in chicago who I could count on! Jack showed up on time, knew what to do to help, stayed in touch and did exactly what he said he would do. His guys showed up and quickly redid the eyesore of a window I've been trying to get done for a year! read more

The best in the business! Jack and his crew know What the hell they are doing. They worked with my HVAC guy and handed all the proper b-vent so they can finish off the roof. Experienced, knowledgeable, professional and all around good people. I just wish I had more work for them. read more

Unfortunately we live too far for service but within a fews minute of getting off the phone they sent me info for another company near by our location, without me even asking. Not sure how many other companies would do that! Super impressed by this that I had to leave a review :) read more

I needed a crumbling concrete-on-brick-sided front porch replaced, and Jack arrived to provide an estimate the next day. I had thought that the concrete porch had cracked in places because the footings were not properly installed and had caused the stairs to rise up about three inches over the walkway in front of the house. Jack explained that the footings were fine, and it was not the porch that had risen, but the walkway and side walkway leading to the backyard that had settled over the 30 years following their initial installation. He provided a very detailed description of the work, itemizing exactly what would be done and provided an estimate for just the new porch and front walkway, as well as an additional estimate for replacing the side walkway which had also settled. I decided to go with the overall replacement, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the work. It was very tricky replacing the side walkway of the house since it's right on the property line, and the neighbor had concreted over the side of his house leaving only about an inch of space between my existing walkway and his. Jack couldn't use the normal 2x4 framing for the new sidewalk without narrowing the width. When I called and requested the framing be done with more narrow plywood to allow me to maintain the 1" gap, he explained that he would try, but that he was concerned about the edge being a bit wavy due to the narrower framing. He removed the initial framing, and took meticulous effort in installing the more narrow framing. When he was done, prior to the pour, I couldn't see any waviness at all. Everything looks great now, and I'm very happy with Jack's work. He patiently answered all my questions both before and after the work started. Replacing a concrete porch takes a lot of coordination. The demolition, framing, scheduling of the pour and subsequent smoothing and edging of the new concrete, and the measurement and installation of the new railings (by a subcontractor), takes a while. Also, since J. L. Contractors is a small firm not interested in generating volume sales, it takes a while for them to schedule the work, and then complete the job, but the bottom line is that they take the time to do it right, at a reasonable cost that will leave you completely satisfied. I heartily recommend Jack to anyone needing concrete work done. Phil M. read more

Love Love Jack & his team, they did an awesome job. Jack always call back with any questions or concerns you have. He is flexible and just great to work it. Thank you Jack, my sidewalk & front stoop looks great! read more

Outstanding! I work in the construction industry and have extremely high expectations. JL Contractor Services exceeded those expectations. They know the CORRECT way things should be done, price accordingly, and stand behind their work. All of the masonry and roofing work completed was high quality. I'm confident that IF an issue comes up with their work (and I don't think it will), they will come back to correct. They truly care about their reputation. read more

Jack and his crew do flawless work. We've used them to rebuild our garage and again to install a new front door. Our neighbors were awed by how clean and efficient they were when building the garage. I couldn't find a single nail lying on the ground outside. Priced very well at the same time. Can't recommend them enough. read more

I'm blown away with the project Jack and his team completed for us. I gathered around 10 proposals over 2 years for the work needed on our house. Of all the contractors we interviewed, I was most impressed with Jack and appreciated his perfectionist eye for detail. He was incredibly thorough and in his proposal provided a detailed project cost. Jack was transparent in the costs of additional work he thought may be needed once they pulled back the roofing material and exposed our badly disintegrating brick (from 1895!). There were no surprise costs or delays during the project. JL replaced the top 2' of brick around the perimeter of our house, they rebuilt our chimney, and replaced our entire roof and gutters. These guys are highly skilled and experienced. They run a clean job site and I loved that they swept the sidewalk and street near the dumpster before leaving each day. I can't say enough great things about our experience with JL Contractor Services and look forward to future projects with them. read more

Jack and his crew were great, he had no problem rescheduling when we needed. The work is fantastic, pricing was very fair for the amount of work that was done. Looks like a different house. Crew was great- very clean after every end of the work day. I can't say enough about the quality of work. The tuckpointers did a great job. Would highly recommend. read more

Jack and his crew just did a whole new roof and gutters on my ranch-style house. They did a terrific job, and even with the additional cost of replacing the 17 pieces of rotted decking and fascia they discovered after removing the old roof, they came in way less than my other quotes-even using the same materials. They sent me photos of everything as they went so I had a great sense of what was going on (I was out of town for the majority of the project.) They were quick, courteous and totally responsive, and they will be my first call when I need more work done on the house! read more

Contacted JL Contractor Services for RFP on tuck pointing for a single family home. Really short phone call. The moment he heard we wanted a chimney liner installed too, he said he doesn't do those. He didn't want to come and look-over the tuck pointing job at all. Instead, he told me to find someone that does both, insisting we'd get a better price having both done by one outfit. In Colonel Potter's words ("M*A*S*H" reference), Horse Feathers! Got a quote from our HVAC company for a Carrier brand aluminum insert $650 installed. And a quote from another highly rated tuck pointing and concrete service that broke-out their tuck pointing quote and their chimney insert quote. Not only was their tuck pointing quote quite reasonable in contrast to other bids, their chimney liner insert was $300 higher than our HVAC guys will install for. No idea why JL Contractor Services didn't want any part of our work, but this was our experience. read more

It took a few weeks or maybe a month to get our roof replaced, but it was worth the wait. JL contractors gave us a quote 2k less than another company and my entire roof was replaced in about 6 hours. I will use them again if needed. read more

I emailed Jack to set up an appointment for Tuckpointing after reading the great reviews on Yelp. He was very nice and the price he gave me was reasonable. Jack is very professional in getting back to his clients. After a prompt initial estimate was made I inquired about getting more services added. A+ for customer service. read more

We needed roof and concrete work done JL Contractor did both and we could not be happier! Would recommend!

Jack and his crew have been a PLEASURE to work with on various projects. Jack has just finished a lintel project on our condo building. We had them come out over the course of three spring seasons to get all of the lintels replaced. Not only is Jack communicative throughout, but his crew is the real deal. They know what they are doing and the craftsmanship is impeccable. We also had this company repair some work on our roof when a different company did a less than ideal job. If you need a company you can trust and is dependable - look no further. read more

Jack is awesome. Helped me on some masonry work last min, matched the price on The last guy that fell off the earth. Turned out great.

Jake and JL Contractors are one of the best and reliable contractors out there. Did couple projects with Jack and his guys. First, you're find Jack is very responsive to his client, small, large, simple or complex projects. Doesn't matter to Jack, you're all the same. He honest, and his guys are top notch. Trustworthy, prompt and true professionals all around. Will keep them on my short list of contractors/go to guys for sure!! FIVE STARS all around. read more

We had our roof and siding replaced on our 110 year old house. It was easy from beginning to end. He came out when he said he would, the written estimated gave you a lot of detail so you knew what you were getting, and was always communicative throughout the process. Very rare in the construction business. As a female, I felt comfortable dealing with him and his team. Too many times the construction guys want to deal with my husband but he and I developed a good rapport and he was fantastic to work with. I can't go on and on enough about how good the quality of their work was. Attention to detail. There is no sloppy work here with his team. Unfortunately, there were some issues with the interior of the house due to the thin walls of an old home. Jack, coordinated the workers to fix the issues promptly and without too much fuss. I am incredibly happy with the resolution. These guys are 5 stars and I would recommend him and his company to anyone. read more

Jack and his crew are extremely professional, courteous and skillful. From beginning to the end it was a great experience, no hassles, no inconveniences. Jack was easily accessible via text, phone and email and responded quickly whenever we had a question. We had an insurance claim and the entire process went smoothly. Jack replaced our roof and siding on both our home and garage, including window caps and gutters. The result.....FANTASTIC! It looks like a new home, great quality products and quality workmanship. We constantly get compliments from our neighbors. Jack's crew cleaned up nicely after everyday of work and worked extremely hard to get the job done in time. I got 5 other quotes for this job and not one other company came close to being as knowledgeable and professional and fair as Jack. I highly recommend him and his crew! read more

These folks do very good work at very reasonable prices. I just had some masonry work done by Jack and his crew, they did a top notch job. Wall and chimney look great. My only regret was not using him to do my roof/gutters after he quoted me a price. Being a first time homeowner, I made the mistake of hiring someone else to do my roof/gutters instead of Jack. The guy is really honest too, when he quoted me for the wall, I asked about the other walls. And he told me they did not need tuck pointing at this time and it would be a while before they did. Since I'm new to this stuff, it's good to deal with someone honest. I know people say it's best to get a few quotes before picking a company to do the work. But as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. I can honestly tell you that if you get a quote from Jack at JL Contractor Services, you do not need to look any further. His prices are very fair , especially for the quality of work they perform. He always responded to my emails and was always very professional. I will be using only his services now for all my home repair needs. Since I just purchased a home, I have a few things I need to take care of. Again, I highly recommend Jack and his crew for any of your home repair needs. read more

Our condo building needed some concrete pads replaced. This estimate came in less than six others, and the work was done well and completed in the time frame promised. Jack was very communicative and responsive. Originally, we had a contract with another firm, Proven Crown Builders. That contract was broken, and the owner was rude and unprofessional. I am so glad that job did not pan out, and I got one more estimate. Highly recommended firm. read more

Jacks team tore down and rebuilt the masonry on the front of my home at a height of about 30' - 35' including a chimney and interior masonry flue. After a year or so, the mortar was efflorescencing and powdering away and some of the brick was coming apart. I called Jack and he returned to see the issue. He brought his entire crew back out and re performed all the work on this 3-4 day project at no cost to me. Did not even haggle about it. That was about 7 years ago and no problems since. THAT is as strong a testimonial as I can give. His integrity was far more important to him than his profits. A man that can be trusted to do the right thing. Thanks Jack! read more

I contacted Jack to replace my roof (15 squares) on my 110 year old, two story, brick house. The existing roof was 4 layers thick and still had the original cedar shingles. Pieces of shingles were slowly falling off during each strong storm. Jack promptly responded to my email, came out on time, and completely evaluated the roof. He recommended rebuilding the chimney because its height did not meet the building codes. He also recommended replacing the gutters, fascia and soffit. His proposal was detailed and complete. I contracted with Jack to replace everything he recommended. We decided to completely tear off the old roof down to the skip boards, apply 1/2 inch plywood, and re-roof. His prices were competitive with other proposals that I received. Jack's crew was knowledgeable and efficient. They finished the job on time and on budget. The job site was cleaned perfectly each night. I highly recommend Jack for roofing, gutter, and masonry work. read more

Jack and his team were great! They were fast, hard working, and very responsive! I needed a slab of concrete poured for a hot tub and an extension to our driveway! Not only were they able to complete in within 2 weeks of my request (and did a great job!), they were also were very fair with pricing! Highly recommend them for your next outdoor project! read more

Absolutely terrific! Contacted Jack on behalf of my elderly in-laws. They needed to have their chimney rebuilt, it started to crumble towards the end of winter. Got quotes from 5 different masons, Jack wasn't the cheapest, but definitely not the most expensive. Jack was courteous and professional right from the start. His quotes were straight forward and honest. Right after we signed the contract the chimney seriously deteriorated. Although Jack originally scheduled the chimney repair for two weeks from the contract sign date, as he had other projects to complete, he really came through. He sent out a crew immediately to dismantle the chimney so it would not pose a risk. A week or two later his crew returned to rebuild the chimney. The chimney looks great. My mother-in-law feels it's the best looking chimney on the block. 2 thumbs up for Jack and his crew. read more

WOW! Talk about a knock yoursocks off contractor, this is as good as it gets! I had over $20K in work done by JL Contractor Services. New Roof, new gutters & downspouts, new siding, new window and door wraps, some soffit and fascia replacement and lastly 2 window's removed. The roofing crew was quick, conscientious and when all said and done very thorough in their clean up. The siding guys, talk about real craftsman and meticulous these guys took their time and made sure that every cut, fold, tuck was done with pride. They are true CRAFTSMAN in their work. I highly recommend JL Contractor Services. read more

We originally met Jack when I called on him looking for chimney liner installation. He did not do this kind of work, but referred me to someone that did. As that reference worked out well, I figured I'd call him again to review this project when we decided to move forward with quotes. For reference, the house is a single family brick bungalow with dormers both front and back with a detached garage. The ashphalt shingled roof was a complete single layer tear off that was 22 years old. Some decking and fascia board (about half the perimeter of house for the fascia) needed replacing. Venting was cut into the soffit and ridge vents installed. The dormers were sided instead of being shingled as they were previously. Jack and the team did a great job all around. Their attention to detail and the fact they were very responsive with concerns made this project a success. Everyone was on time every day and put it a full day's work and then some. They made sure the demolition as well as the rebuild did not cause any issues with damage to the neighbors homes which were in close proximity. Jack does a great job when quoting and was available and answered any and all of the questions we had especially when it came to materials and process and scheduling. I can't say enough about his attention to detail on this project. Originally, pricing was in line with all others quoting, but the others were lacking in detail. Pricing actually wound up more favorable, although that was not the reason for selecting JL Contractor Services. Again, I stress Jack's attention to detail. This grouped with the responsiveness and quality of materials and workmanship should seal the deal and make your decision easier regarding whom you go with for a project of this nature. I can fully recommend JL Contractor Services and will call on them again for any home improvement projects read more

Wow. I highly recommend this company. I had some fireplace/chimney repair along with some masonry/tuckpointing work on the house. Since I already hosted like 2 contractors for this work I knew they tricks to charge me more, and here comes Jack - the paladin of sincerity - with like an honest plan and pricing. I was surprised when 1. work was done on time AND FLAWLESSLY 2. final bill was exact as the estimate :) Now Jack is doing some roofing work for me, like replacing roof and repairing chimney. read more
